People forget about this now, but Brandon Graham was our best EDGE vs. Atlanta in week 1.

Graham gets the full year to rehab his achilles, he should still be a good run-stopping EDGE in 2022.

I'm not betting on a 34 year old coming off an Achilles.

I can't rely on Graham for 2022, mostly because I can't rely on Graham for 2023, 24, 25, etc. even if Graham is the answer as a run stopping edge in 2022, that's not going to matter moving forward.  They need a YOUNG answer there, not to just keep trotting out the older guys.

Exactly  Good point.  But if we get Tampa, Gannon and the D can't be passive.  Brady will just pick us apart underneath.   We have to pressure him like the G Men and Brandon did in the Super bowl.

Well, the key there was it was still only a 4 man pressure.

Graham is a roster-lock for 2022. I'm not worried, his game is power/technique anyway.

Sorry, just the option play in general. We've run it a few times this year and mostly successfully. Maybe it was a designed run, I'll go back and look

Gotcha.  I'm fine with it, as long as the design is for the QB to pitch pretty much every time, unless he's got a wide open running lane to pick up at least 5 yards without being touched, and can get down without taking contact.  I don't want the QB taking contact as a runner... and that includes running out of the pocket on a passing down.  If you get out of trouble, great... get down or OOB before the hit comes.

But, my biggest concern with the QB running, there's really ZERO protection for the QB when they are a runner.  And more importantly, QBs who run often don't get the same levels of protection even in the pocket.  Brady gets all kinds of calls, because he's a statue back there.  Guys like Josh Allen don't, because of their ability to run.

I don't disagree, but his presence should have no impact on building the roster for 2023... starting in the 2022 draft.

Eagles played a real soft zone against Brady on that Thursday night game , Brady just picked it apart , was extremely accurate , 81 % completion percentage  ..and release time average was 2.45 seconds , hard to get to him under those circumstances .

All sorts of examples, but a famous one was someone asking Dez if his mom was a prostitute.

Personally I might have asked if she was insane like her son

Greg Cosell is a big fan of Josh Sweat on the Eagle Eye podcast he said that if allowed to be a wide 9 rusher regularly that Sweat would be among the league leaders in sacks.

He’s still pretty high in pass rush win rate.

While we need to see more consistency from Sweat, he will benefit from better DE lining up on the other side of the line.  He's the lead dog right now and that's not what he's built for.  I'm not talking about BG coming back, I think we need a guy like Harold Landry lining up across from him and then add some youth in round 1.

Sweat, Landry, Ojabo, Jackson would be fun to watch.

what? You can ask me anything, the only thing it might do is help me decide NOT to work there. But no, "ish" wont get real because someone asks an inapproriate question.I'm thicker skinned than that.

I would honestly probably ask. "Why, does your Mom thinks she knows her?" I have walked out of interviews when the guy giving the interview turns into a dewsh. No need for that and I have never needed a job that bad.

I don’t see it as an argument of semantics at all. We’re talking about the effect Hurts has on the ground game. He clearly has an effect. The size of the holes are in large part due to extra attention paid to Hurts rather than a guy like Minshew. I don’t see how anyone could argue otherwise.

I also don’t think over the course of a season, our ground game would be just as effective with Minshew as it is with Hurts. But if people want to box score scout a single game vs a terrible run D and draw significant conclusions from that, ok, I guess.

Wasn't the run yardage basically the same when Minshew played?

For those that keep pounding the table for an "Elite Passing QB", who do you want the Eagles to get?

Those questions need to be asked the correct way:

You cant ask, "is your mom a prostitute?"

You can ask : "what street corner does your Mom work on?"

You cant ask: "are you gay?"

You can ask "do your boyfriends mind you playing Football and getting all the attention?

But we all know he’s a great leader and he’ll always be a great leader and will never become an ego maniac like Scam Newton.  Because ….well we know. Ok?!

He's showing more signs of growing in to Cam Newtons ego than he is signs of being an above average passing QB.  Keep in mind, Cam was a mentor for him.  There are small mannerisms in him that make me think he could go the Cam route but I think he has a better head on his shoulders and has great leadership in his life to steer him away of becoming Cam.  However, we have no idea how success can change people.

OBJ wasn't OBJ at LSU.

Cam wasn't Cam at Auburn.

Antonio Brown wasn't AB at CMU.

The list goes on.  Success changes people in different ways.  You can see it in both DK and Justin Jefferson.  The more success they both see, the more diva they become.  I think DK is going to be a headache, especially when it comes to next contract/team.

Hurts has shown that he has A LOT of the look at me generation traits...will be interesting to see which direction he goes.

Playoff records

Cunningham 0-1

Griffin 0-1

Wilson 2-1 ( defense #1 in points allowed, 4th in yards allowed, 4th in turnovers )

Newton 0-1

Jackson 0-1

Murray - no playoffs, 8-8 regular season

So minus Wilson, and the legion of boom defense, all teams one and done or did not make it.

I could have sworn Wilson played in 2 super bowls

5 years from now when Hurts is still a lower tier starter or back up, somewhere, I wonder if these sheep will be saying. "He’s only 28 and only has 60 starts under his belt”.

so basically a rookie

He is only showing QBs that threw for 3000 and ran for 750 in the season they appeared in the playoffs.

Bucs took their foot off the gas against us in Philly, they will destroy us in Tampa.  And don't think Brady will not want to get revenge for the Super Bowl loss.

Rams, last time we played them in LA, we could not stop Tyler Higbee with Goff as his QB, what are we gonna do to deal with Kupp and Beckham.

Cards, for whatever reason we can not win in their stadium, and Ertz has that inside info.

I would rather play the Cowboys, as they already have their hands around their throat, ready for the choke job.

When's the last time we beat them in Dallas?  2017 I would guess.

Bucs at least are very banged up.  The freakin Jets almost beat them 😄.

I think many of us would be happy with an above average passing QB.

3 minutes ago, 4for4EaglesNest said:

Ah yes....that question.  I always love those.  For the record, we don't know who that guy is.  I have always said that we probably should hold onto both Minshew and Hurts and try to get another 1st in 2023 and hope a stud comes out in that draft.  Because that guy is not there in 2022 draft.    And who knows who that next franchise QB is.  Waiting for, identifying and getting that QB is a process.   The last thing we should want to do, is misidentify Hurts as the long term answer only to delay the start of that process.  Unless Deshaun Watson is cleared and comes out looking like a rose, I just don't think that guy is there right now.  So we will have to go with Hurts and Minshew until we get that guy.

That's the whole point, genius.  It's not a compliment that we are comparing him to Scam.

What's wrong with the question?

Your answer is pretty much where I think the vast majority of people stand.

At this point, there are NO options for that guy, so another year of Hurts to see how high his ceiling is the the only logical course.

Nah, I keep seeing Elite tossed out there when it comes to winning SBs.

So, who do you want?

The run yardage accumulated by the running backs was.   The total run yardage was not.

I want a QB who can see the whole field and spread the ball around to our WR.

So, you don't want to answer the question.
