I could have sworn Wilson played in 2 super bowls

The context there is just the seasons where the QB has 3000+ yards passing and 700+ yards rushing.

Nah...there's a large contingent who thinks he is the long term solution because he can run.  And he dodged a railing.  Also, asking who we want is hard to answer.  Since it's been discussed, at length, that the options are pretty limited thus far.

Maybe I've missed all these folks definitively declaring Hurts the answer.

I'm clearly not a Hurts guy, but the reality is he will probably be the QB next year. The one problem I continue to have is the takes of "he deserves to start" or "he's all but assured QB1 next year". You explore the options that present themselves during the offseason. If Wilson/Watson are available, you do your due diligence and make a decision. If you have the chance to interview or workout a college guy, you do your due diligence and then make your decision. The draft class appears weak, but that doesn't mean there won't be a guy or two that end up good pro's.

For all you Micah Parsons fans out there, he might miss the Eagles game Saturday.  Apparently they put him into covid 19 protocol.

Yep.   So much hyperbole and misrepresentation.   Same old TATE.

He's showing more signs of growing in to Cam Newtons ego than he is signs of being an above average passing QB.  Keep in mind, Cam was a mentor for him.  There are small mannerisms in him that make me think he could go the Cam route but I think he has a better head on his shoulders and has great leadership in his life to steer him away of becoming Cam.  However, we have no idea how success can change people.

OBJ wasn't OBJ at LSU.

Cam wasn't Cam at Auburn.

Antonio Brown wasn't AB at CMU.

The list goes on.  Success changes people in different ways.  You can see it in both DK and Justin Jefferson.  The more success they both see, the more diva they become.  I think DK is going to be a headache, especially when it comes to next contract/team.

Hurts has shown that he has A LOT of the look at me generation traits...will be interesting to see which direction he goes.

Eh...success tends to bring out something that was already there. Let's be honest about Cam -- this was a guy who started his college career by getting thrown out of Florida after getting arrested for stealing a laptop. He then ends up at Auburn after being at Juco and wins a national title...and is already viewed as overly cocky. He was doing his annoying Superman celebration in Carolina from the beginning, and he was always someone who preened when succeeding and disappeared when struggling. His moment of truth came in Super Bowl 50, first when he refused to try and recover a fumble and second when he acted like a spoiled brat in the post game interview. From that moment on his career was basically a waste. Cam was ALWAYS a weak minded, self-obsessed attention hoor.

Hurts hasn't shown any of that. He wrote a letter.

Cam's physical gifts were well beyond Jalen's, but Jalen's mental makeup is far superior to Cam's.

So, you don't want to answer the question.

Cool.

What?  I answered what I want in a QB.  Now I see you asked who I want OK.   A guy on my radar is Drew Lock.  I think he could be a much better stop-gap QB until that franchise QB is available or one you think can be the guy is.

Derek Carr has been mentioned and I'd be happy with him. Same goes for Mariota.  I'd be fine with him on a 1-year deal.

I didn't ask about other "stopgap" QB's who are currently unavailable.

I asked who the "elite passer" crowd wants.

If that doesn't apply to you, or you can't give a straight answer, move along.

1.) Hurts is a stop gap.

3) show me anyone who wants an elite passer. we want basic things like, knowing how to read a defense. seeing the entire field. trusting someone to throw in the redzone

4) Sorry to bring facts.

Oh God, facts?

Have you missed the last week of Elite Passer v Elite Defense conversation?

And no, not everyone is available for the right price. That's stupid.

Hence the tongue in cheek responses of Mahommes and Herbert.

Some people around here going to be bummed about not seeing the great walk on water Parsons. F him. He's a cowboy.

Love how ignorant people like you act like Hurts isn't reading the defense. Every indication from the film breakdowns to Sirianni's own words is that Hurts is mostly reading the defenses correctly and going through his reads correctly.

If you think he's just going out there and playing backyard football I'd love to see you get off your recliner and get in there and be just as effective.

Someone just leaked that the new name for the Redskins is the Admirals.

You know, as in the guy who lead the charge to steal the native americans land when they arrived in this country

Where did you see that?

A heck of a lot more posters in here saying Hurts is the answer then there are guys saying we need an "elite passer", like you proclaim.

Who?

The most extreme Hurts supporter I have seen is RTK, but I don't even think I've seen him say Hurts is unquestionably our long term guy.

I seriously don't think even 1 person has taken that position.

For those that keep pounding the table for an "Elite Passing QB", who do you want the Eagles to get?

I would fall into THAT category, and I am on record stating I would take a swing at trying to land Rodgers or Wilson. No, I may not get them, but you either have one or you dont, and when you dont you are looking for one. There are less Elite QB's then there are teams in the NFL and year in and year out, the MAJORITY of superbowls are won by teams with Elite QBs, not having one all but eliminates your chances of winning a SB.

Since it is very rare that any eliete QB might be available by trade, you have to take that shot again when you dont have one. (Or you might end up like the Browns, always looking to find one). You can tell me the 1000 reasons why it WONT happen, that doesn't stop me from trying - You miss 100% of the shots you do not take.

Well, as silly as thinking we have a shot at Rodgers is, at least you answered the question.

You think Wilson is an elite passer?

That should go for ANY position and EVERY position as well.  In the NFL, if you aren't moving forward, you are falling behind.  You have to look to upgrade constantly... and that goes for any position.  It always comes down to the cost analysis and the risk/reward calculation.

Hmm much to unpack here. In Here most agree Hurts needs more improvement before we decide to "hitch" future contract "wagons" to him. Now there have been a few posters who take exception to that opinion, especially when Hurt's limitations and or weaknesses are discussed. Even though most posters also give him credit where it is due.

Most however aren't willing to trade for a Elite QB, like I am, I know I am in the minority on that one.

I also unveiled that as what I would suggest when I saw the uniform with the stars on it, and recognizing that 'Washington Generals' already exists, so Washington Admirals made sense, and it also doesn't run into a lot of branding issues, like they mentioned with Red Wolves.

He is an elite QB, His decision making, his passing and his athletic ability are pretty high.  (this year not withstanding between the downfall of his team/ oline and his hand injury)

No he is not as Gifted as a passer as Rodgers, which is why I go Rodgers first even though he is older. No one is playing better than Rodgers.

Hampton Roads Admirals of the ECHL would like to have a word.

I did say 'a lot' of the issues.  I'm sure just about every name has someone who uses that name... but I think its about the saturation point of the name.  Admirals is fairly underutilized.

Yea, Cam had D-Bag tendencies but he also presented himself as a very clean cut guy, did really well at his press conferences and in a way charmed reporters...not the Andre 3000 character he created himself to be.

And, yes, as we both said, Jalen Hurts seems to have a great mental makeup to him.  However, I'm not just talking about the letter. Send the letter, keep it to yourself.  Don't send it then blast it on social media. I mentioned it last night but for me at least, it goes back to the summer when he was releasing heavily produced workout videos, talking in the 3rd person and such.   He's also been so damn coached up that he talks in cliché's and quotes.  It's almost an act.  That's not a knock on Hurts, just an observation of a coaches sun who then played for some legendary and great college coaches.

I don't think we know who the genuine/real Jalen Hurts is. That's what makes me question what he could become.  He knows that he's a brand now.  He's going to market himself.  The Philly media is GUSHING over him and you know damn well he knows it.

I think this off-season we're going to see the next step in marketing of Hurts.  I'll bet money that he signs on to become a Jordan Brand athlete.  You'll notice that he came in to the league wearing UA gear.  He's now wearing Jordan cleats (I know a lot of guys do but only a few are signed on)...just something to keep your eyes on.  He already has the Oakley deal.  Jordan is next.
