All the posters proclaiming that Hurst has cemented himself as the QB of the future.

Clearly I (and many others) did miss this.

Because it hasn't happened.

But what HAS happened, a lot, is the daily belly aching about an elite passer.

So again, who do you want?

1st of all, Rodgers nor Wilson will be "Reasonably" Priced.   They will command a high premium.  Watson might be but his Legal drama present an issue.   So if you mark off those three whose left in the Draft?   Why give up Draft Picks for an expensive Rodgers or Wilson?  Even if you don't feel Jalen is the answer, there are clearly other issues on our team that need to be addressed.   I think this debate about QB would make more sense if we had a record like the Giants or we continued to fall apart after 2-5 instead of being in the playoffs.

If you can get a 1st ballot hall of famer (Rodgers or Wilson) for a couple 1st round picks, you do it every damn time. Rodgers is arguably top 5 all time. I don't think either comes here, but you are an instant contender with either. As for Watson, if he is eligible to play, I'd give up 2 1sts and more for a young, elite QB with 4 years left at non-crazy prices (I think $136mm in total).

"Is Jalen the long term answer".    Well he's on a rookie deal.   Why spend Draft capital fishing for Rodgers or Wilson when we do need upgrades in other positions?  We have a QB that's being successful in this new system and he's on a rookie deal.   I honestly think Jalen should be good to go for next season with some upgrades on offense and defense.   And let's see where we go.   After next year he will have been with the team for 3 years.  Then at that point we can see if a Long term contact is in order.   I just think this rush to "Upgrade" is premature.   I think Jalen is just getting started.   We have a golden opportunity.  3 1st round Picks from a Playoff team.

Jalen's limitations will take us only so far. Thats my issue. You can get into the playoffs almost yearly with the Likes of Kirk Cousins, or as was brought up before a Cam Newton. But winning championships? Rare without an elite QB.

In the playoffs your weaknesses get exposed against good teams.  Good teams will find a way to "stop our run, keep Jalen in the pocket" and Force him to beat you with his decision making and passing ability.

The question is, Can he improve?  Sure he can, but how much? I think his ceiling is low, but would be very happy to be wrong about that, and have him become an elite QB. I just have not seen anything that suggests he can become that guy.

I agree with the premise, but I don't agree that Wilson or Watson are elite.

Disagree, if you can get an established, elite QB at a reasonable price. Wilson, Rodgers or Watson -- you pull the trigger unless the cost is insane. Those guys just don't come available, and three of them may be possibilities this year. You don't change just to change, but if you can get someone elite, you do it.

Ugh. Some choice.

Wilson, I can see, if barely.

Rodgers is 38.

Watson is a human and legal mess.

They all want out.

You want Rodgers or Watson in your locker room? I sure don't.

You started out with reasonable and ended up just short of insane.

What is reasonable? Three #1s is too much. Insane. I think 2 #1s is too much. Maybe a 1 and a 2, for Wilson.

The other two? Just no.

This has been my position. Although it is not a popular position in here. I happen to agree.

Rodgers for a guy who wants out- is still playing at a higher level than any other QB this year. Yeah I want that!

Cousins for Baker? Which team says no?

I agree with the overall tone of this, but I always come back to the fact Hurts was a 3rd round prospect the Eagles took in the latter half of the 2nd round.

The premise that the Eagles couldn't do better by drafting a QB in April is wrong, IMO.  Would the Eagles be drafting a QB who is a significant enough upgrade?  Odds are "No", but it's not out of the question.

I don't think so...not anymore. Still above average.

He's got like the 5th highest QB rating with no OL and playing left handed.

Between draft capital and cap hit taking either Wilson or Rodgers would annihilate us. We're only 4 years removed from a SB win so I don't see the need in risking the near future of the franchise for maybe one more SB win. If this was prior to the 17-18 season I might be more on board out of sheer desperation but I don't think that's as necessary anymore. Not to mention that we're fairly short on offensive firepower so we're going to handicap the franchise to bring in an elite QB. If we had a top flight duo and TE and the only puzzle piece was missing was a QB I'd agree but we're also not in that position either.  If you're trading for Rodgers/Wilson we're probably looking for another top tier WR whether it's through the draft or FA as well.

This is probably our best year to re-tool our defense since DE, LB and S (+ CB to a lesser degree) are big needs so it seems short-sighted to push that off into future years. With Cox and BG's contracts expiring in 2023 it would be the best time to give rookies a year to acclimate and see what we have going into 2023 when you're making large re-signings.

In a vacuum getting an elite QB is a great idea but it seems like a poor choice for this team. We're not really setup to take advantage of it in our current state.

I just said he's still above average. But he is not elite.

Okay so now I'm really confused. Why do I care if Minny and the browns trade quarterbacks?
