Well, jeez he can only throw to the players out there, Siri has gone with a base formation for most of the season, either 2 TEs or 3 WRs.

The RBs haven't been good receivers, except part-time guys like Scott and Gainwell, Stoll and Jackson aren't part of the passing game yet, Reagor is #@*&$, and Ward hardly plays.

So who is he supposed to be throwing to?

The point is, whether it's Hurts or not, the QB should be a distributor of the football for the offense to reach its potential.

Hurts in 2021 is 139 runs to 432 passes -- that's 32.2% run-to-throw ratio.  Too high -- way too high.  You go ahead and show me any QB in history with a ratio above 20% who's ever won a Super Bowl.  Since Hurts returned from injury he's 17 runs to 81 passes -- that's 21%.  Do you think the change in that ratio is because he's learning to go through progressions and distribute the ball from the pocket .... or do you think it's because of his ankle injury and he can't run as well??  When his ankle heals he'll be back up over 30%.  You can almost bank on it.

So you want him to win "playing within a team concept" without having a team around him?  Oh I'm sorry you don't even care if they win as long as you're entertained. And if he doesn't agree that having a second quarterback instead of 100 year old oft injured receivers to start the year then he's got an ego problem.

Let's just say I agree with Wentz and not with you. Especially since he cares more about winning than entertaining you alone.

Fair enough.

I don't think he has gotten average value at the most important picks.  We can blame Chip Kelly, Doug Pederson and Joe Douglas for bad first round picks.  We can blame Reid for Watkins and Jarrett.  Your response, though, begs the question of why we would want a GM who you "doubt who knew Watkins was."

I assume he means Doug didn't know who Watkins was.

But, the idea that Pederson was pushing for Reagor to 'win now' doesn't know anything about the draft.  Everyone who knew anything about the draft knew that Reagor was a project, and knew that Justin Jefferson was at worst, the second most Pro-ready WR in the draft behind only Jeudy.  I had Jefferson ahead of Jeudy but I was in a minority in that.  But virtually no one had any other WR as more 'pro-ready'.  Lamb was considered a better prospect, but many had him pegged as a slot type WR, and having played in the Big 12, hadn't seen the same level of DBs as the LSU or Alabama WRs had.  If Pederson was pushing for Reagor because he was in 'win now' mode, then shame on Howie for going that way over his scouts, because he should have known that Reagor was a project compared to Jefferson.  It was plain as day to anyone who'd spent any time looking at that draft.

Not when your QB makes 1.5M a year. You can absolutely win a SB with that.

McNabb while never the high volume runner hurts is, relied on his athletic ability too many times, when he broke his ankle and couldn't run around and was forced to stand like a statue in the pocket and deliver the ball he had a really good game

Maybe hurts hurting his ankle will force him to actually stay in a clean pocket and throw the ball I stead if one read and run.

Last game he actually looked like he hit a secondary read occasionally.

Generally, I'd agree that there are a lot of lessons to be learned through sports...

However, in the context of professional sports...

This isn't some church league softball team.  This is professional football.   (Meanwhile, I also played to win in every church league softball game I ever played as well.)

If anything McNabb shunned his athletic ability to the point it was a detriment to his potential.  He wanted to be seen as a pocket passer when he wasn't that great of a passer.

I assumed he was talking about the Danny Watkins pick and that decision being Reid's.

The reality with Hurts is that if this is the conversation about him as of the middle of next season, the team needs to move on from him.

I too would like Justin Herbert to be my QB. However, that option is not available, so having a QB who is 16th in EPA (expected points added) is fine.

It's better than fine for now, it's excellent value for the contract he has.

However, that level of production will not be good enough for a 2nd contract.

So either he dramatically improves, or sooner or later we will need a new QB.

I'm thinking about going now. Tickets have dropped from 200 minimum to 73

I would hope not.   It's hard to know.  It might be either one, and then he'll just defend whichever one we decide to argue against.

Going to be a glorified PS game from the Eagles' perspective from the sound of things.

Oh I'm aware. Still might be fun for my son and I. I like Minshew too. Although sounds like Dallas going all in with starters

Lol I heard that, I literally was cringing during that call. He also said since we will beat Brady the rest of the teams would be scared to play us because he's the GOAT or something to that effect, so we would win the next rounds.

Yeah RG3 was legit before that trash organization put him out on a messed up knee in the playoffs which resulted in a far more damaged knee and he was never the same after.

They should have never let him play in that playoff game but part of that decision was on him.  RG3 didn't do himself any favors afterwards.  He got his coach fired because he wanted to be just a pocket passer.  He was bad as a pocket passer.  Some of that may have been because of his knee but some of it was his failure to improve himself and unwillingness to accept criticism.

I think the all-time what if for him would have been if the Eagles had drafted him.   Reid reportedly really liked him and the Eagles wanted to trade up for him but couldn't make it work.  I mean that was thought to be one of the reasons the Redskins traded so much to the Rams for him.

Because of  backups playing plus the snow and the fact it suppose to be in the 20's and at night so no sun to warm them. All the far weather fans are jumping ship.

He was really fun to watch and while I don't wish injury on anyone, I think we're lucky he got hurt.  He had special talent.  His rookie year was ridiculous.  As you alluded to, the questions were between the ears.  Did he have the mental makeup to continue to improve and work on his game?  We'll never know because he had to rehab so much and then just went downhill.

He would have been something in AR's offense.

I agree. I mean to some extent the same thing happened with Randall and the Eagles. It's a big what if for them both because of their injuries.

reminds me of the 2011 playoff game against Green Bay. we started tailgating at 10 for a 4:30 kickoff. and we lost of course.

Yup if one is making the reagor pick based off of win now mode then that's an idiotic decision

I was a fan of reagor pre draft, I was in  the crowd that was of the opinion that while Jefferson was pro ready he was also just a slot and the eagles didn't need a slot and needed a guy with speed who could stretch the field, which is why pederson said they took reagor which at the time I was fine with, but if one is taking reagor over Jefferson because one is in win now mode everybody with a pair of eyes could see Jefferson was more pro ready draft time

Turns out he's not just pro ready but he's shown to be far more explosive than reagor as well.

I'm not sure what the heck happened to reagor, his college tape is full of explosive plays and for whatever reason he has about 1 explosive play a year now.

Doug, Howie, Lurie , who ever is at fault really missed the mark

Another failed first round where Cam Jordan was sitting there rip for the pickin', but nope, we had to take a firefighter to play football. Can't even make it up. I'm sure the Saints were laughing like the Vikes were when we let Cam go right to them with the next pick. He would have been a great pass rushing DT here. At the time our DT rotation was just decent.
