Because Leal is a stud and makes Cox tradeable. Cox is a shadow of his former self at this point and the contract is an albatross. If we can get something for him and move on, as much as I love the dude…it’s time.

I also believe hargrave is on the last year of his contract in 2022 (excluding the dummy years) and is going to be turning 30 after 2022.

With the emergence of Milton Williams, and we still have Cox/Hargrave under contract, I don't see the benefit of going DT in RD1. EDGE is such a bigger need...

Cox is here for 2022 and no more, if he's even here in 2022.   Williams is a nice looking player, but he wouldn't be a reason to pass on Leal.  Right now Williams is a nice rotation piece, but that's all he's proven to be so far.  Hargrave is signed through 2022, and no further.  They can resign him, but he'll be 30 in 2023, so the question is how much would it cost and will he be worth it?

Upon doing these new mocks, I'm seeing David Ojabo is consistently gone by pick 13... Not good

That’s PI but that ball wasn’t remotely catchable. No one was even in the area. Landed like 25 yards away from where the PI happened

So the defender was really really dumb for grabbing him.

Not sure Cox is tradeable on that contract.  I also am intrigued by using Williams at LDE.  Or at least as a chess piece who rotates between LDE and DT, which still means we’d need 2 other quality DT’s either way.  Ridgeway is going to have a 10 year Eagle career, but he’s best served as a #4 DT.

I wouldn’t go out of my way to get another DT, but I wouldn’t turn one down if they are BPA.

I agree. If somehow both Leal and Ojabo are on the board at 15…they should have both their cards ready immediately. Then at 19-21 you grab the next best CB, hopefully Sauce Gardner.

That would be amazing, but I don't think Sauce Gardner is there at 19-21. Of course things change a lot after the combine.

Will Brady shake Hurts hand after the game if the Eagles win? I think he does.

Looks like we got an officiating crew that likes to involve themselves in the game.

Just made the same point on hargrave. At 30 you really want to give him a big contract he likely asks for? Not so sure that’s smart. Leal with Williams gives you a nice couple of young DTs. Can make a decision to try to sign a young DT in free agency or even bring back hargrave potentially

Idk wtf Harris was doing.

If Leal is there... you grab him and thank your lucky stars he's there.   He's the type of DT you want... he's a blue chipper type.  You don't pass on those unless you already have both Aaron Donald and Fletcher Cox in their prime.  Cox is no longer in the prime of his career... only his price is a premium now, not his play.

What position does Leal play exactly? He's too small for DT and not quick enough for EDGE.

I don’t really think first round picks are well spent on DTs.  The list of DTs in the NFL who make a difference for good teams is very, very short.

Ask yourself what positions have long-ish lists of difference makers on contending teams.

I actually thought he was a guy they’d use him a lot like how they used Vinny curry. That’s where i think his value has always been especially with his athleticism and build.

But... its Howie, so he likely resigns him to a huge number and locks them in to him for a premium price and makes him unmovable.  That's what he does now.   He did it with Cox, Graham, Brooks, Johnson... it's just his way these days.

No leak on game times yet?

We should probably be thinking of the DL in terms of NT, DT, 5-tech DE, and 3-4 OLB. That is how Gannon likes to play it. I don't know anything about Leal, but it sounds like he might fit as a 5-tech DE.

betting nbc released them after this game.

This draft at least at the outset looks much weaker than a lot in recent memory. If they can't trade for a QB. Trade down for 2023 firsts early and often.

I might have to lay a little something down.

Fine line with Williams.  His raw athleticism and speed are excellent even for an edge rusher, but he’s bulky, stout, and it’s physically impossible for him to really bend around the edge like a speed rusher.

You could end up with a DT who is too light and doesn’t anchor well enough and a LDE who isn’t much of a pass rush threat…..or you could get a DT that is too quick for any interior OL and too dangerous for OTs with his ability to beat them around the edge or out-muscle them inside.  He’s off to the right start, but his coaching and usage are very, very important.

Like you said, I think his upside is best realized with a creative role like Curry…or early career Graham, or Darren Howard if we reach back far enough.  He’s far more explosive than any of those guys, but he also has a bigger learning curve and is less polished than they were.

You had the intensional grounding because the ball wasn’t catchable 20 yards away. Then the DPI even though the ball wasn’t catchable 20 yards away.  The refs are being consistent - just throw flags baby.

I got the over, so I don’t know why I’m ****in.

Niners and cowboys gonna be Sunday night.

Been seeing that a bit too, but I think there’s still potential to be there at 15. However, were they to trade up for him or Karlaftis I’m ok with it.

He probably isn’t but I’d definitely try. Leal is a potential stud, you have to grab him if he’s sitting there. Can’t foresee how he isn’t BPA at 15.

Played up and down the line , better results lining up outside and rushing from standing  position

You’ve got to let Hargrave go at the end of his contract, thank him for his service, and embrace the free comp pick.  Tough decision to make, but that’s the way to do it.
