Narratives change very fast in this city. Just seeing how people have flip flopped 5 different times on Howie in the last year alone is evidence of that.

Will be interesting to see how the narrative changes on Hurts(if at all) based on how he performs Sunday.

Playoffs mean new expectations. Making the playoffs in a transition year buys a lot of rope, but fans usually recalibrate expectations once the playoffs start. An @ Giants type performance on Sunday will be interesting from the fans or the front office.

And he if goes out there and balls out, then obviously it would really make a strong case for him being the guy in 2022. Despite opinions otherwise, I still don't think the Eagles have decided on anything.

It's exactly how it works. Don't fall into the "Sunk cost" trap.

I disagree.  Hitting on a Mailata or a Quez should be a bonus.  It should not be to replace the failure of Dillard and Reagor.

Believing in Siri is coach him up. He’s been the 4th-5th option in a run first offense. What sort of an investment are we going to make this off-season to improve that?

Let Watkins play more... let Greg Ward play more (whom folks around here know I am no big fan of)...

The issue isn't Reagor's inability to produce based on limited opportunities, it's his limited production with the opportunities he has had.  As many as Greg Ward's warts are, he's far more productive in his limited opportunities than Reagor.

Reagor has had 57 targets... for 299 yards, 2 TDs and 13 first downs... with a long of 34.    5.2 yards per target. 0.23 first downs per target.
Ward has had 11 targets... for 95 yards, 3 TDs and 4 first downs.... with a long of 27.   8.6 yards per target. 0.36 first downs per target.

And that's not to mention Reagor's rushes... 10 rushes for 32 yards, including 2 fumbles.

Every snap they give to Reagor right now is actually hurting the team versus having another player on the field.

Correct.    And no one is going to hit on 100% of his first round picks.  That ludicrous, but it seems that Howie cannot hit on ONE if it's not in the top 13.   And since we are supposed to be this great playoff team year in and year out, that's where most of those picks are going to come from... so, we need a GM that can either make the right pick... or get out of the way so that the people around him who do are the ones making that decision and he just has to rubber stamp it.

Frankly, if Howie just stopped vetoing the scouting department, I think the drafting would be much better.

I'd much rather have Gainwell run more routes and let Huntley get more snaps at RB/KR then use Reagor at WR and Gainwell at RB/KR.

Unfortunately the team plays higher drafted people over people who are more productive- I can only assume this is to not make the GM who spent high draft capital for the under performers from looking like he made a mistake.

One thing I have learned over the years in business, making mistakes comes with the territory,  But not not moving on from your mistakes fast enough will kill you. As soon as you realize it was a mistake you HAVE to change directions.

Looking at the draft, the Eagles roster, and the way the NFL game is played, I would not be shocked if the Eagles go WR with one of their three 1st rounders.

You know the goal should not just be make the playoffs. Heck that’s what lurie said himself after he fired chip and put howie back into place. The goal was to build it up and make it a perennial title contender. Your goal should be to be a title contender more consistently.

2017 they were a title contender. I would argue 2018 they really weren’t for most of the season in their performance and they got super fortunate for a double doink to win a playoff game. Like people talk about they were Alshon Jeffery drop away from going to another NFC championship game. They were 43 yard double doink field-goal away from losing to matt Nagy and Mitchell trubisky in the wild card round. And the following year it took winning the worse division in football and needing to play 4 games against top 5 in the nfl draft the last month of the year just to make it.

The goal shouldn’t be let’s just make the playoffs  and boast about it. it should be trying to become a legitimate title contender not a fringe playoff team

Another option.   Huntley has a wonderful asset right now... fresh legs.   He's no all-pro, but he's the best KR option we seem to have right now, and likely the 3rd best RB option as well.  He should be active.  Meanwhile, Reagor is about the 4th best WR we have available.   Deactivating Reagor really doesn't cost you anything for the playoffs.   We need a PR?  No big deal, throw Ward back there and just tell him to fair catch it or get out of the way.   He's not great back there by any means, but neither is Reagor.

Tickets. $200. 9 hour drive. Free place to stay. Should I?

Of course.

Replace Reagor with Ward, Gainwell, Stoll, etc. Just get him off the field.

Of course.  Which is another reason that I wanted to move on from Howie last year... because the new GM wouldn't have had any reason to push for Reagor or JJAW to get snaps over anyone else.  A new GM makes it a true meritocracy (at least with the previous regime's players... though they would then become more loyal to their own rookies).

Frankly I look at it this way. If we were way better in the first, second and third round with our draft picks we’d already be a contender. However since we hit on like 5 of 13 first thru third round picks since 2017 (smith, Dickerson [could change if he can’t stay healthy going forward], hurts, goedert and sanders… Williams and Taylor an unknown but Taylor is beginning to be injury prone) we find ourselves as a fringe playoff team who went 0-6 against playoff teams this year and 1-7 against teams .500 or better.

Of course.   Gold standard and all that...   Apparently, the Eagles are actually more content to be the bronze standard.

It rivals Pinkstons alligator arms attempt and hopefully the result will be the same

Pinkston made a business decision, dude weighed 165 lbs dripping wet and had Sean Taylor bout to break him in half on a medicine ball, JJAW just flat out dropped a pass that hit him right in the chest.

Not to mention I probably would have called OPI in JJAW and he still dropped it

JJAW is just straight up trash, sure it's fun to poke fun at pinkston but at least pinkston had some production in his short career.

So TJ Watt got hosed out of setting a new sack record because on his first sack the ball bounced before it got back to Huntley, which counts as a fumbled snap by the center (?), a recovery by the QB Huntley -- who then is deemed a runner, and a "tackle" and forced fumble by Watt.

What a bunch of horse crap.  I'm positive Huntley could have still thrown a pass, which means he's still deemed the QB and the tackle should have been a sack.  Come on, NFL -- you can still get this right.

well in fairness it is the 18th game and the steelers suck

The Texans signed a running back who looks like this to a contract extension.

JJAW and it's not that close

Hurts will get a go of it next year.  And the problem will take care of itself.  As nasty as all the fights here have been, we all just want a QB that can win us a super bowl.

With every fiber of my football knowledge, instinct, and philosophy, I really don't think Hurts can ever be that guy with the type of QB he is.  But I truly, genuinely, would love to be proven wrong.  And if you doubt that, know that I prefer when you lunatics bash me to when you agree with me 😆

Again, the offense, as a whole, exceeded expectations this year.  It is my belief that Hurts was a mere passenger, if not an anchor for that.  But the net result buys him next year.  If the Eagles go 9-8 next year with a bottom 10 pass attack and loss in the wild card round (or worse), the next steps will be obvious.  (And they'll have wasted opportunities not looking at QB's like Davis Mills and Carson Strong with less premium draft picks while they were busy evaluating Hurts).  And if this Baltimore Ravens style offense (going great over in Baltimore by the way) gets them deep in the playoffs next year, then we know they should ride this running game Hurts train until it goes off the tracks.
