Both the OL, and Miles, are very good.

In 2018 and 2019, they were strategically attempting to keep the window open and continue to contend.  But they failed miserably.

The failed 2017 draft started to materialize.  We couldn't field a competent secondary.  Injuries to an aging WR group impacted QB play and exposed Agholor.  Injuries in general brought the team down quickly.  Then the 2019 draft and irresponsible contract extension put the final nails in the coffin.

Making the playoffs in 2018 and 2019 wasn't a step towards contention.  It was a consolation prize for a deteriorating team.

This year is a different situation.

I agree with you however I’m also not the one that boasting about they made the playoffs 4 out of the last 5 season. Making the playoffs winning 9 games is not something I would boast about. Especially since they added a playoff team in the last two years and we are only in it cause of that addition (frankly a last place schedule really helped). Am i happy they made it? Hell yes. 2018 i don’t think they played up to the expectations and benefited from the double doink and cousins to finish where they did. And I said this at the time in 2019 that was a fool‘s Gold run.

I think that’s yet to be determined if they get it right. they trying to build towards that and we are hoping they achieve that.

My suspicion is the defense will look overmatched, though.  Part of that might be a Gannon issue, but the bigger problem is a lack of talent.

Disagree. Yes the team lacks talent. A few weeks ago I would have pointed at LBer as the biggest deficiency but now I feel it's DE.

However the biggest problem is the soft scheme we see too often from Gannon.

Turned on sports radio in the afternoon for the first time in a while because it's playoff week, and the first call I hear

"I don't think the Bucs are as good as people think, that WR Mike Williams on the Bucs I think is overrated

"You mean Mike Evans?"

"Yeah, I think he's overrated"

Ok then.

Broncos looking at another DC.

Good sound knowledge by the caller there!

Requested to interview Dan Quinn to be their HC?

Meanwhile, Mike Silver, a national reporter is openly accusing Cal McNair of being racist, and Doug Gottlieb asked him for proof and he links to an article he wrote where McNair apparently referred to COVID as "China Virus" at an event. Case closed!

I hope Cal McNair sues him for libel. Silver is an insufferable C.

Making the playoffs 4 out of the last five seasons is representative of something other than the current state of the team.

It shows that, despite what you read on these boards, we have a pretty well-run organization.  We are a top-five team in terms of winning percentage this century.  The other teams had QBs like Brady, Favre/Rodgers, and Manning.  Just look around at the coaching carousel today and the usual suspects taking part.  The recent FO mistakes are real and frustrating, but there is a base level of competence that other teams would envy.

Ah yes let's pick the worst branch from the worst coaching tree.  We complain about Howie but look how stupid so many of these front offices are.

So his expected YPC and actual YPC were the same?

Rough estimate based on scaling, but...
Expected YPC = 5.1
Actual YPC = 5.5

Leslie Frazier is the name I've heard most connected to the Bears, for whatever reason.

That caller probably watched One Tampa game all year.

That's a good enough reason for me. 🤣

The birds can't win a shootout, they are going to need to lean on the ground game and control the clock. They absolutely cannot let TB have quick scoring drives, defense will need to step up and make plays.

They only need these two things to work all game, unfortunately, they haven't been able to do either this season.

Their defense was good this year, was it Fangio’s fault the Front Office couldn’t find a QB?
You think McDaniels finally gets another shot this season?

I’ve been hearing Mike Tomczak quite a bit. Also Gary Fencik.

You can look at it that way. I look at it as the Eagles were fortunate to play in the **** NFC East in 2019 otherwise that team is not a playoff team. They were the benefactors of a division being awful that someone had to win

I look at it this way and I don’t really care what other fans around the nfl think, just simply making the playoffs isn’t good enough nor some amazing accomplishment. The Steelers just made the playoffs with a quarterback that really can’t even throw the ball down the field anymore. My biggest concern with the Eagles is they get themselves stuck in purgatory. They can make the playoffs the next 10 years in a row. but if they’re doing it with only 9 wins every year and they really don’t have a legit shot to win a Super Bowl then what does that mean exactly?

i’m not saying you have to feel the same way I do. You can feel they way you do and go with that. I look at the playoffs this way now. They added an extra team. So in the NFC there is 16 teams. That means you have to be just barely better than half the NFC to make the playoffs (if we’re being honest I think there’s an 8th playoff team that’s coming to both conferences at some point in time). And there’s legitimately 8 just  bad teams in the NFC.

Nagy likely gets a job with Doug’s team, and re-treads aren’t necessarily terrible if you feel the coach has figured out why they failed.   Dennis Allen deserves an interview as well.

I think you can cross DEN and IND off the list for McDaniels to get interviews.

That’s actually an interesting question. 27?
