Yep.  If the Eagles are staying with Hurts and a run heavy offense, WR is a poor use of draft resources in the first round.  CB, S, DE, LB are all pressing needs and there should be ample talent where the Eagles are picking.  Free up enough cap space to bring in a vet WR as the 3rd receiving option behind Smith and Goedert.  If there's an intriguing WR prospect on the board in the mid rounds, that makes more sense

I agree about being a poor use of resources, hell I've made that argument about Smith too.  Doesn't that say something about the quarterback though if adding a top WR is a bad use or resources because they won't see the ball.

I'm not sure why he's renting.  Should be able to buy a place at this point.

Important game for Hurts' future this Sunday.  He went 12-for-26 for 115 yards last meeting with the Bucs; an efficient and productive playoff start would likely cement his place for 2022.  Another 12-for-26 for 115 yards would muddy the picture a bit.

And, all that said... for the game on Sunday... I don't personally care if Hurts rushes 40 times and passes it only twice... as long as they win.  From this point, it's not about 'developing' Hurts, but about doing whatever needs to be done to win.   So, while I would be more critical of a game where Hurts was used as a primary ball carrier, or had more carries than he has completions, that goes out the window for the playoffs.  Just survive and advance, however they do it doesn't matter one bit.  Just gotta do it.  And as the 7 seed, they are already at a disadvantage, so they need to use whatever they can to win.

Agreed.

I think we're really going to learn what Sirianni thinks of Hurts. If he lets Hurts throw 40 times, he'll really believe in him. Will he let him throw?

Will Todd Bowles let him run?

Ross from Clemson, someone bigger bodies like that i suspect

the wildcard for me is the TE Weydermeir or some such in the second round…could be too good to pass up. as much as i love the utah LB it feel like de and db have to take priority. Should still be LBs in the second and third rounds

Belichick threw an 8-man line in a playoff game and won. Hope Nick looks at that game.

I'd like to flip the script for a bit...

If you are Todd Bowles, what do you do?

Damn man … that was awhile ago.👍

He’s at the airport.

Probably mix of single high man under and cover 3. Bring a safety down very often with rpo/spy responsibilties

That's why the NCAA puts a limit at 20 hours 'in-season' per week.  And it's not really that different than students who have to hold down jobs while attending school to help pay for their education.   My wife and I both held part-time jobs while attending college... both of us working more than 20 hours per week.   Are you suggesting that my wife and I couldn't get the full value of a college education because of our commitments to the part time jobs?

I'd have happily worked 40 hours a week while attending college if it meant I walked away with a degree and zero debt.

I did work full time while in college and graduated debt free.  I also lived in my own apartment and supported my party habit.  But I would say my kids, who did not work accept summers got a more complete experience than I did.  But the cost when they graduated versus my costs were not comparative.

Feels like that would be easy picking for Smith on slants especially.

More recent than Gale Sayers, who was also referenced. Kelly had flexible ankles. Everybody else was on their toes; he was running almost flat-footed.

He was deservedly HOF, even with so-so numbers

Love watching the Gale Sayers highlights, incredible how he could cut while seemingly running full speed.

The call was correct under the rules in effect at the time. It was a stupid rule and they changed next season it but at the time it was called correctly.

The tuck rule won’t have made Blaine Bishop any faster or get Dawkins to catch a pop fly interception that instead went for a TD.

I meant correctly in the sense of there being an objective right and wrong in the universe.  Not some Walt Colemanesque excuse to screw the Raiders just because it appeared his arm was still moving forward.  Also, clearly Donovan never throws the pick 6 and they win in a comeback.

Who's passing him the ball?

Carr also threw for almost 2K more yards than our QB 🤷‍♀️

I don't think the Eagles are likely to trade up and draft a QB at this point.  That could change but it doesn't seem that some QB is looking like a sure fire first round pick. Absent a 500 yard 5 TD performance from Hurts, I think the Eagles will consider a trade for Wilson or even possibly Rodgers.  I just don't think the Eagles are a likely landing spot for either player.

I would give consideration to another Brown … Jim Brown.

Alex Karras, when asked who the best RBs were, said , "you say Jim Brown, and then you wait a while.”

I like the Cover-3 as it is innately strong against the run (as the SS is in the box and has flat responsibility in coverage), also given that Swag has been fixated on the right, Cover-6 is another option (aka quarter-quarter-half)…
