I'm trying to find a way to get comfortable with the thought that we have more than just an "any given Sunday" chance but just can't seem to get there.  TB is quite strong against the run and I figure they go ahead and stack the line.  I'm thinking back to McNabb's 1st playoff game where we just couldn't throw and the Giants just stuffed the run with 7 men at the LOS.  That was more on the receivers than McNabb but I see us having similar trouble hitting shots downfield to counter act a TB D setup to clog all running lanes.

I read that while TB is very good containing the run up the middle, they are allowing 5.8/carry off-tackle. So, perhaps a low volume day for Howard and an opportunity for Miles.

I can't speak for other schools, though I expect they are not greatly different. At Michigan, football expenses are 35% of the athletic department budget but generate 80% of the athletic department income. Football and men's basketball are, I believe, their only athletic programs that make money. In essence, they pay for every other sports team and program. My point is that these colleges are not rolling in dough from the efforts of their "unpaid" players but are using that dough for the benefit of other athletes.

If you argue that college football players should be paid, does it not then follow that the gymnasts or wrestlers or lacrosse players, etc. should be charged more in tuition because they are costing the university money?

Right, so players want to play for Alabama but suggesting paying players would somehow upset competitive balance is silly. There is no competitive balance in NC.   Sure, Oregon players might get big money to play for Oregon but that's not going to negatively impact the playing field.  We are talking about a handful of players that sit out bowl games.
