I’m not disagreeing with anything you just said. I don’t want him. I’d rather build the defense, bring in a good veteran receiver, and keep the small Hurts contract for now.

Watson has 1 playoff win, latest record of 4-12, hasn’t played in a year, and his problems most likely won’t be solved by the draft.

Yeah, I’m not convinced that Watson comes back as the superstar player that a lot of people remember him as.

Eagles should be much more attractive of a landing spot compared to last off-season.

Watson was more attractive in 2021 from a cap perspective.  He costs $35 million guaranteed next year.  No team is taking that on until his name is cleared and suspension is locked in. (Chance of no suspension seems minuscule).  Suspension may impact the guarantees on his contract making him more acceptable.  $37 million against the cap next year 2023.  Then just $32 million the next two years.   How is Watson going to feel about a white coach, OC and passing coordinator?  Will he waive his no trade clause for them? How will he react if his guarantees are gone?  How will he do knocking the rust off?  Colts, Broncos seem like landing places for him.

Yea I think at some point his attorney said he wasn't going to sign any NDAs but then his legal team was sending them to the women so I guess they changed their minds.

Watson basically has a class action lawsuit against him, plus possible jail time.  Also, what guarantee does any team have he won’t do the same in their city?

Unless something changed, I think you have that backwards. There was a settlement proposed but Watson didn’t want to settle and he was also adamant against a NDA.

Assuming Kelce retires he's the closest thing I've seen to Kelce in a long time and perfect if the plan is to keep Hurts.  Burks gives us that big body WR opposite Smith that can actually go up and catch.  Got a power back "The Terminator".  Brisker I think will be the best safety in this draft class.

I just started checking out a few and Burks caught my eye, a different type of receiver than the latest models. Big Bad Burks taking over games even with the opposition knowing what’s coming and in the SEC. His relatively smaller counterpart Wan’dale Robinson did the same. Wait for the combine for better evaluations

Yes but as an extension of his primary job of O-line. What I meant was you never hear about him wanting to be an OC, run an entire offense, call plays, etc.

I think it is a bit more than OL coach.  He took that position away from Duce last year and I noted that.  He is listed as such on the website.  I do find it interesting that the running backs coach, like Staley, is the Assistant Head Coach.  I think that is incentive for that position with Stout being the running game coordinator.  Unlike when Pederson was out with Covid, when Sirianni went down, the assistant HC wasn’t running things.

What are people's thoughts on Jordan Davis?  DT should be a position of need and the big fella will probably be available in the second half of the first.  Don't seem him in a lot of mocks though.

He’s in his 40’s. Maybe a priority UDFA

I think he’ll be a first round pick for an AFC North team — CIN, BAL, or CLE could use him for sure.  I don’t think he offers much ability to pressure or disrupt the QB, but he’ll be great in run defense.  He doesn’t seem like an Eagles pick at all.

I think the Eagles wait until the mid rounds for a DT, while DE will be one of their first round picks.

Makes sense.  Seems like a Ravens guy based on profile and history.

Mostly just bored and trying to think outside the box in the first round picks.

Not sure he's a good fit, might be best as a NT in a 3-4.

Wyatt actually outplayed him in the championship game, if he falls to the 2nd rd I'd think about him.

1000% yes.

If the Eagles are thinking of trading for him, they shouldn't.

Say they did.....at any moment he can say he needs a mental break and decides to leave the team.  Especially in this city where you'll hear about it if you don't play well.

Not a class action or even close to one but many folks confuse mass litigation on a similar basis with a class action.  Major difference is that individuals can settle their actions in this type of litigation. Fact 18 were willing to settle suggests Watson’s team offered an all or none deal.  Plaintiff attorneys run a risk of running afoul of the Phillips decision if they offer an all or nothing.  They better have a written agreement by each plaintiff to do that, which is extremely unlikely.  If the depositions of the plaintiffs are ongoing, since those aren’t sealed, reporting on them could come in the near future. BTW, a forty hour deposition would be brutal. Basically five days.  Given that his massages probably lasted an hour or so, forty seems extreme and probably bluster as a threat by the plaintiff attorney.

When it appeared the Eagles would have a top 10 pick (7 or close) I was focused on Kyle Hamilton, DeMarvin Leal, and Stingley — in that order.  If any of those guys somehow falls to #15 that would be my preference.

Failing that, my wish list now is David Ojabo at DE, Booth or Gardner at CB, and Daxton Hill at S.  Hill isn’t the player Hamilton is, but he looks very good.  If there’s any way Wyatt or Christian Harris are available at #51 I’d jump on that as well

This is nuts:

"Their demand of three first-round picks and some combination of three second-round picks or young players who could make an impact for years to come. There were teams willing to meet those demands, but only if there was some sort of clarity regarding Watson's legal issues."

Watson is not an elite QB, he put up gaudy stats b/c he holds the ball, but Houston never had a top ten offense with him at QB.

Heck, if I'm Houston, I might be happy to go with Mills - his last 6 starts, 66.4%, 9-2, 7.06 YPA, 11 sacks.

And that was with no running game, Cooks and pretty much nothing else as receivers.  Tunsil and Cannon on IR.

Last game of the season, against the Titans, 23/33 301 2-0, with this group of players:

Johnson & Burkhead RB, Cooks, Collins & Amendola at WR, Auclair TE, Britt - Taylor - McCray - Howard - Heck as your OL.

I really like McCreary and Booth the most, I’m not as high on Gardner as a lot of others are.

Texans only had 5 picks in the 2021 draft and the first one wasn’t until Pick #67.  They used it on Davis Mills.

It’s their intention he will be their QB for the foreseeable future

Speaking of "out of the box" first round, I usually hate trading up but figured I'd give it a shot to see how things played out and I don't hate it.  Love Hamilton, but obviously a steep price to pay and we have plenty of holes to address.

He will have a good support system in Philly with the correct resources. His price won’t be high either. Mid round pick most likely. He will have to restructure his contract too. The upside is way worth it.

My preference is to stay put and/or accumulate early picks next year absolutely.  Just trying something different.  Grab an LB and maybe a DT in free agency and that could be a solid offseason.

What was the trade to get up to 4?

Falcons can actually roll over his contact because he missed so much time, so he would only cost $1.9M for next year and then have the $12M option year. But I think you are looking at a lot more than just a mid round pick to acquire him.

Fully expect Howie to revisit this trade in the off-season.

Watson was adamant about going to Miami, now he has to be open to other sports.

You do remember why Watson wanted out? he hates the GM and the owner.

You really think he will like Howie? Wasnt it also mentioned he wanted an minority GM and Coach?

Need to get off the Watson talk. that ship is long gone.

He missed 5 games in 2016 when he was diagnosed. He hasn’t missed a game for mental issues since. He now manages it well from his public statements.

You have made it known you would be in for Watson. Super strange you’re willing to do that but a mid round pick for Ridley is a deal breaker.
