Yup.

https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/2021-nfl-rulebook/#section-2-dead-ball

Rule 7: Section 2, (o.3)

when an official sounds the whistle erroneously while the ball is still in play, the ball becomes dead immediately.

  1. If the ball is in player possession, the team in possession may elect to put the ball in play where it has been declared dead or to replay the down.
  2. If the ball is a loose ball resulting from a fumble, backward pass, or illegal forward pass, the team last in possession may elect to put the ball in play at the spot where possession was lost or to replay the down.
  3. If the ball is a loose ball resulting from a legal forward pass, a free kick, a fair-catch kick, or a scrimmage kick, the ball is returned to the previous spot, and the down is replayed.

Cut and dried.  No grey area.

Refs might as well blow a whistle anytime then. There was no reason to blow the whistle. That rule is in place for turnovers, players being held up, and mainly penalties. Not so any ref can blow a play dead for no reason. Again the whistle had no effect on the play. It is subjective. lets end the discussion here, because i think your dense as well.

This ended the discussion.  You're wrong, it's ok to admit it like an adult.  Have a goodnight.

I don’t want everything to fall back to the dead horse of our qb situation…but if you run into a team in the playoffs that plays like this…and you usually will on a SB run…you won’t hang without a qb who is playing out of his mind.

Now…the Bills themselves can’t play like this every week.  But if you do run into a team clicking like this and have a running offense with a minimally passing running qb…you are dead on arrival.

It’s funny you say that.  I’ve been watching on Prime.  Still in S1.  It’s my all time favorite show.  Haven’t seen these episodes for 10+ years.  It’s like I’m watching it all for the first time again.

Yeah, I haven’t watched Cheers in 15 years easy - looking forward to it.

Damn, was hoping he'd be a RD2 target for us.

Okay so refs can end a play in the last half second at anytime for no reason and we are okay with it. Got it, you too

The Bills fans have to be loving this.

My grandmother was from Buffalo so I rooted for them in both the Cookie Gilchrist days and the Jim Kelly days.  I’m happy for Sean McDermott as well.

I did a binge of a few seasons recently, on Netflix or maybe Hulu.  It aged pretty well too.  Great show, probably up in my top 10...MASH takes the cake for me though.

MASH is my show.  I binge watched it before binge watching was cool... back in the late 80s/early 90s... I had videotaped it off the TV and would watch the shows when no one else was home.   I can tell you everything that happens in any episode, almost without exception, by being shown just about any 5-10 seconds of an episode.

Rewatched the entire series again on DVD at the start of the pandemic back in April 2020.   My wife said, "You know... you aren't the only one being quarantined."

Friends of mine that are much involved alums said if we had won last Monday he'd be coming out. He wants to leave on a high note. Wants a Natty next year. Alot of the defense that could get drafted this year are staying.

Life without Brady is hitting Belichick hard. Better get used to it Bill.

Yea life will be hard with a Young QB who took the team to a 10 win season in his rookie year.

In Asheville so we’re all screwed.

Always good when Bourne talks crap to the crowd down 33-9.

Wonder if that keeps the starting offense from sitting?

Haha for Christmas sometime back my parents got me the collectors edition box set on DVD.  When I worked nights I'd always have the late night marathons on as well.  Such a good show for most of it's time (though I'd argue as wonderful as Alda was letting him write so much at the end really made it darker than it needed to be).  The first 3 seasons with Col Blake was some of the best TV to ever grace the airwaves.

Asheville is such a great place to visit. We stopped there on the way to Charleston and spent a night restaurant and brewery hopping, eating appetizers and drinking craft beer. Shockingly dog friendly.

I’d love to go back.

My old man was like that.  Saw every episode like 5 times.  New the jokes long before they happened.

Amateur... I must be up to over a dozen each... much more for my favorites.  Trial of Henry Blake is one of my absolute favorites!  Must have seen that at least 2 dozen times.  .  I'm not sure I should be proud of any of this!

I'd have no problem at all with the Bills winning the Super Bowl (well, provided the Eagles are eliminated by that point).

I would like if they make it out of the AFC.  I certainly would want them to win over any NFC team.

Part of the issue is this team doesn’t have the ability to stop a hot qb.  I think at least the ability to run the ball allows the team to move the ball.  You’re right the team is unlikely to be able to score consistently without a better passing qb.

No one said that.   What has been said is that there is a rule in place for when it happens.  How many times have you seen it happen?  It doesn't happen because the official wants it to... it happens due to a mistake.  And there is a rule in place for when it does happen.  What is so hard to understand?   It's almost like you are being intentionally obtuse about this for some reason.

The rule is black and white.
