Based on what they previously said about abdominal issues I'm guessing that he had his appendix removed.

Yea that makes sense, although life threatening is a huge exaggeration and he really wouldn’t be close to playing today.  Even when an appendix perforates and people become septic, it’s very rarely life threatening.

Then again, they always like to say that pro althletes almost lost their leg after a routine post op infection requiring more surgery.

His issue was listed as abdominal, so I wonder if his appendix burst and he needed emergency surgery.

This seems plausible

Appendicitis maybe? Not a lot of "life threatening emergency procedures" you can shake off that quickly.

You know more about the rest of the body than I do…I’d say life threatening is a bit of an exaggeration.  Id also say there was no way he’d play today after that.

What could be life threatening in a young person that also was adequately reversible through a procedure that he nearly played today?

Pneumothorax requiring a chest tube…although he really wouldn’t be even close to playing today.

Cardiac arrhythmia seems most likely…although those are major issues that threaten careers.

Severe asthma attack…maybe, but not sure what the procedure would be.

And then there are various toxic/metabolic issues which can definitely be life threatening, yet quickly reversible.

Sorry to speculate, the human body is just a puzzle to solve sometimes.

It was an abdominal issue. They have been saying that much all week.

Eagles said it wasn't Sweat's appendix.

diverticulitis infection, possibly

The Bucs' D has added Lavonte David, Antoine Winfield Jr and Carlton Davis since the last matchup. Davis will get Smith unlike last time and they'll double Goedert with one of their safeties.

Not a huge exaggeration.  If you don't get surgery in time and it bursts it can kill you.

Look at anything else, if you get COVID it is very rarely life threatening but people still try to act like it is this extremely deadly virus that has made people deathly afraid of it.

Regardless, I expect the eagles to outmuscle and outrun the Bucs in a chaotic, messy game today.

Paging Javon Hargrave... paging Fletcher Cox.

Yeah, we aren’t going to get him off his spot with our outside rushes unless Barnett us a game like he did last year vs Trent Williams. We need Cox and Hargrave to provide frequent visits reassure to at least make Brady a little uncomfortable.

Automatic week in the ICU, so def not that.

Could also be gall bladder or spleen maybe. The "he was almost ready to play" is the confusing part.

Is Barnett even still on this team? 😉

Josh Sweat not playing has such a major impact to pressuring Brady...and everyone know what Brady does when he has no pressure on him...he picks you apart! 😞

This is really bad news for the Eagles D...I just hope that Cox & Hargrave can get some push up the middle, but this is a major downer! 😞

Howie should have had all the players' appendixes removed before the season began to avoid this scenario.

Bummer about Huntley. We could have used some juice in the return game. Is Chachere hurt?

Sua Opeta at RG. Ugh.

We have lost the following at G: Brooks, Seumalo, Driscoll, Herbig. Opeta is the #6 G on the depth chart.

What would the surgery have been then? Resection? If so, how can you recover from that in 4 days?

Don’t really understand what the point of signing him to the 53 just to make him inactive was

I don't get it.  Now we get to see more Reagor doing nothing in the return game.

Sua is going to get worked.

Can PS guys be signed away during the playoffs?

If so, maybe after the positive showing against Dallas, they wanted to make sure he stayed around.

It said emergency procedure, not necessarily surgery, so not sure.

There aren't many things abdominal that could get you close to being ready in a week. Certainly not a hernia or perforated bowel.

Healthy scratch it seems

By other playoff teams. But they still can protect 4 guys. I guess that’s the only thing that remotely makes sense.
