If that's the case I doubt they let that happen, because it opens them up to questions about why it wasn't an option last year, especially if Minshew wins the battle.  Bad look if that happens, and we know they hate bad looks.

After what just happened, I don't think it's really a bad look anymore.

You really are a clueless, lol

Comparison is if Burrow, Herbert or Jones declared the year before they were actually drafted in they would have been late round picks like you said about Pickett. There final year helped them get drafted early, just like what is happening to Pickett.

You misunderstood what I meant.

I didn't mean if Pickett were drafted last year, he would've been the 5th or 6th QB taken. I meant this year's version of Pickett would've been the 5th or 6th QB taken in last year's draft.

I think they can write it off as the playbook was too limited early in the year and now he’s had an offseason to digest it.

I don’t think that’s an issue at all.

We are going to get massacred next season with hurts at qb playing a 2nd place schedule. He was barely average or worse against cupcakes this year

I would take mid rd fliers on Zappe and Coen

$3.5M is peanuts for the most important position on the field, that’s not going to sink us. If he can’t play, that would be the issue.

I hear what you are saying, but its $3.5M that won't make a difference in the QB position.  Why spend money on a QB you know isn't good enough, when you already have Hurts and Minshew on rookie deals that aren't good enough?

I get investing in the QB position, but there are good investments, and there are bad investments.   When you are a playoff team contending for a title, you pay richly for a backup QB as an insurance policy.  But, when you have no starting QB, but have multiple placeholders already, then you stick with what you have.  What benefit is there to add Mariota?  He's not the guy he was when drafted, was never a very cerebral QB so he's not a 'mentor' type guy, he'd be new to the system, so its not a Doug Pederson with Andy Reid situation where he's a coach on the field type that can help install a new system.  And frankly, Minshew's career might actually be better than Mariota's so far.

It's not about the money, except that it would be wasting the money... kind of like they wasted money on Flacco this past year.  Howie has already wasted plenty of money.  No need to throw any more away.

Well there is a waste of a draft pick.

Yup.  Howell ran 183 times in 12 games this year.  Drafting him, Corral or Willis is just spending draft resources for more of the same

Howie didn't accumulate all this draft capital to draft defensive tackles.

He will move heaven and earth to get a franchise QB

If Watson isn't suspended, that's the easy move.

People may not want him, but that's irrespective of whether or not it would be a good move.

If you can get a top 7 QB in their mid 20's, you do it.

And like others said, 2023 QB class may not be better. It may. But what if it isn't. You keep kicking the can down the road til you find one? And waste Smith and Mailata's prime, and what remaining years Lane and Kelce have?

I think the odds of Lane and Kelce being contributors on a contending Eagles team are as close to 0 as it gets.

Nice throw and catch by dak

Maybe... today was a pretty bad look.

Aikman knows exactly what he’s looking at.  He was pointing out Hurts’ deficiencies in real time today and was 110% right on every point he made

True... midseason acquisition being their fall back safety zone.

The heaven and earth will put Howie back in his place when he blows those picks. But, then Lurie will forgive him and nothing will change.

How many QBS were taken in front of Wilson, Brees, Prescott, Marino, should I even say Brady? There are a ton more that can be named.

Its all about the right player in the right scheme with the right coaching.

Difference is... they actually played the QB position in the NFL... and at a high level.   ESP isn't even a good reporter.

Whenever I watch the Cowboys I can't help but think Cedrick Wilson is what Quez Watkins could be if he was used the right way.

Terry Bradshaw today said that Ben Roethlisberg is still an elite QB.

Aiyuk has done more today to help the 49ers than Reagor did all season.

If Bradshaw in his incoherent, inability to grasp that he's alive, can't string a complete sentence together state points out the passes he missed, you know that the performance was really really really bad.

That doesn't mean Pickett will be. I don't think he's special, so I don't want him. Don't know how to be more direct than that. People can think a certain way about Pickett, but I don't know what people saw from him to have him as your #1 desired scenario at QB going forward.

Feels like a panic move rather than the right one.

I dont need anyone to tell me about Hurts' lack of ability to play the QB position in the NFL. I have eyes, and an ability to be objective.

I dont need anyone else's opinion.

It’s so depressing seeing other QBs throw passes and make it look easy.
