NVM... I considered going that way, then decided it looked small... and the one thing I learned from keeping fish was: smaller volumes are harder to keep at steady parameters than bigger ones.   So, I then decided to go with a dedicated smoker, and ended up with a pellet.  Very easy to use and very low stress... which is what its all about for me.  Bad news is that I have to get a new grill as well now... the good news is that I get to buy a new grill now.   So, I'll have a smoker and a propane grill... both full size.  Best of both worlds.

Making St. Louis style ribs today.

Yea, my old gas grill went so had to get a new one. Went with the dual because at the time I thought it would be nice to have both to do different things. Then I started looking into smoking so decided to add a small fire box. In the next couple weeks I’ll just buy a bigger dedicated smoker and still have the smaller guy for weeknights. I can’t imagine even attempting a brisket on this thing. A few years from now maybe I’ll get a third pellet. They are super easy but I enjoy the whole process of offset, for now.

I was in the same boat.  It was during the pandemic the initial parts of the lockdown, so I had some extra time, and get into smoking.   And the propane/charcoal/smoker idea turned into... just get a smoker... and see how that works for the 'other stuff'.   The truth is its pretty good at everything you would want to do on a grill... even pizzas.  But, I want the convenience of propane for some things... waiting for the smoker to get lit and up to temp just isn't always as convenient as just turning on the gas.   And if I'm just cooking a few burgers, it seems unnecessary to wait 10 minutes for the smoker to light, then another 10 minutes to get to the proper temp.  Besides, my wife told me she doesn't like the burgers as much from the smoker... so on to the propane we go... and I'll get one of each.   Hoping to find a good deal on one this fall on clearance as they make room in their inventory for the snow blowers.  :lol:

I had success smoking in my basic Weber gas grill.  It's a simple technique and because it's gas, the temperature is easy to regulate.

Players on both teams will not be paid for the cancelled game (a policy the NFL and NFLPA already agreed on last season).

that is asinine , you punish a team like the Bucs , who are vaccinated from top to bottom , management , coaches  ,players .. smh

Did I miss something? Why do people think there will be a forfeit?

The rule is dumb but the game will be played so it doesn’t matter.

Because RTK said so

Nope. Rules state both teams would not get paid.

We will see.  If the trend from yesterday continues and more Cowboys test positive for covid.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure players on both teams collectively bargained and accepted that policy.

Maybe they should collectively bargain that vaccines are mandatory to avoid the issue?

Can't eat your cake and have it too.

Personally I wouldn’t postpone or cancel games , I would force teams to make do with your 53 and 16 man practice squads , you chose not to vaccinate everyone , play your backup WO at the backer position .

Games aren’t getting canceled. They didn’t get canceled last year, they won’t get canceled this year.

That is not something that is up to the individual teams.

Unrelated side note:

I know a few Falcons fans. Every single one of them has done nothing but say that Pitts will be essentially wide open all game, makes losing Julio irrelevant, will win ROY, etc.

Here's hoping he has no catches and Hurts puts on a clinic.

Eagles in round numbers:

  • Carson - $33.8M
  • DeSean - $5.8M
  • Alshon - $5.6M
  • Malik - $3.6M
  • Everyone else $1.2M.

You can take some solace in that the majority of this season is a result of one extraordinary event.

But remember, we still have another $14M for Alshon/Malik in 2022.

Is there a third option?

Like Flammable, Inflammable, and Nonflammable?

How does the rescheduling work? If a team can't play week 1 then how long until they forfeit? Does a team on Sunday have until Friday or Saturday to play the game?

So do both teams get a loss or just the team that has COVID?

Curious what Gannon does against Pitts

I think Pitts us going to be a monster and our LBs/DBs still have major question marks, but banking on any rookie receiver to go off game one is a bit ambitious.

Is Kyle Trask throwing to him? If not, we have nothing to worry about.

The grand total for 2022 is up to about $30M, I believe.

Ertz = $3.5M
Barnett = $7.2M
McLeod = $2.1M
Harris = $2.4M
Flacco = $1.9M
Wilson = $1.3M
Kerrigan = $1.1M
Nelson = $1.2M

My mistake... seems the number is actually around $35M for next year.  Yay!

Random thought...

Got a YouTube algorithm recommendation yesterday for the Vick Kelly Green game from 2010.

Some thoughts came to mind.

1. I'm glad the NFL made an effort to get unnecessary head shots out of the game. Watching some of those plays with defenders diving at a ball carrier's head when he's already going going down makes me cringe every time.

2. It was always SOMETHING with Andy Reid's Eagles. I mean, you can't stop Jordy freaking Nelson from gashing you on every kick return?!

3. Comparing Vick to Hurts... Hurts obviously has nowhere near the physical ability that Vick had, but he's bigger and he actually tries to avoid contact with defenders. It's almost felt like Vick was trying to get injured at times, he was so reckless.

I'd like to see him make some tackles before boarding that train. And I say this as a lifelong Notre Dame fan who's seen Hamilton play since his first game as a freshman and immediately thought he could be special. He's athletic as hell in space but he's no Dawkins level hitter.

That’s true but we’ll likely never see another Dawkins level hitter. The game these days doesn’t allow for that type of violence. I’ve rewatched some old Dawk highlights recently, thinking how his hits then must’ve been illegal now. I was largely surprised how clean a lot of hits were, even in today’s rule language.

That being said, while obviously being very important, coverage skills have overtaken tackling skills for what I’d want from my safeties I think.
