Hurts obviously has this year to take the job or not.

But, if we’re being completely objective, only 2 weeks in, he very much has an uphill climb.

I think he'll do just enough for Howie to roll with him next season. We'll see. I don't think he has it

Neither Goedert or Ertz were a factor today. Play calling didn't help

See I don't get that at all. Especially when you needed to use the middle of the field a little and move the chains. Got to get those guys involved.

Absolutely...  of course, a good percentage of the posters here have already made up their minds about Hurts, even though to my mind it's still an open question...

Did he build on last week, absolutely not...  does he need to improve in some areas, absolutely so...  is it time to scrap the Hurts era and move on, of course not...

There were a lot of questions about Hurts going into this season.  After two weeks, we haven't had many answers.  There will be more opportunities, but if the throw distribution chart doesn't start to become more varied... this will become a very long season.

Our young offense struggled against a really good defense. It’s not really surprising.

San Fran took our best punches but avoided getting knocked down. They’re a veteran team with a veteran coaching staff and it showed today.

No S.

No that's true and that's fair. I think he's got a good arm to a certain point. Like the Reagor throw was beautiful and so was the Quez throw but I'm not sure id class them as absolute deep shots. They were decent length absolutely but he's not going to throw 50+ yard dimes.

No absolutely not. I'm just saying Reagor and Smith are not big guys they need the ball out in front of them. Those throws are making them be possession receivers

Not a good game from the offense. Hurts is a one read runner. We still need a QB.

Need another WR too. Someone to compliment Smith. Quez is a speed WR. Reagor is decent. Give me that really good number 2 whom could be a number 1.

Yea, but the way he's been talked about you wanted to see more, a flash, something.  He looked bad.  Might as well have been Nate Herbig.  They used a 2nd round pick on this guy when there were players on the board who would have made this defense better.  I expect him to be good, even as a rookie.

Also, I don't want to see an extension for Dallas Goedert.

Way too early to bury Dickerson.   We should let him work at RG and work through the bumps.   It will likely hurt the team in the short run, but might help it tremendously in the long run.

Hurts had Goedert on 2 plays for first downs but he tucked it and ran for minimum gains

I have no problem with the play calling, personally.

The vast, I mean VAST, majority of your average football fan mistakes poor execution for poor play-calling...  although, I thought the Philly Special call at the goal line was awful...  that ship has sailed...

Lets see how the rest of week 2 plays out

Overall, I am not surprised by the end result today.  I thought that Sirianni called too many deep throws today and not enough intermediate throws.  Maybe attacked with the run a bit much.   Eagles linebackers aren’t very good.  Plenty of back ups and no starters but they held SF more than I expected.  If Graham is lost for a long period, that hurts. Dickerson settled down after a rough start.  Hopefully though Brooks injury isn’t serious.  Where is Kerrigan?  Saw more Tarron Jackson than I would have liked.

Are you sure Sirianni call ALL of the deep throws?

Or maybe Hurts couldn't figure out what was going on underneath and then defaulted to the post route.  Some of those tosses where late in the progression, as opposed to the throw to Watkins, which was hit the back foot and throw.

I know he didn't see Goedert underneath on the third down incompletion to Smith before the first FG.

Was he? My god I thought he was injured because I don't think I heard his name once?

Bo Wulf posted snap counts at halftime, he had 20. Ertz eventually got a first down later in the game, they were just ignoring TE’s. At one point in the third quarter all the TE’s only had 1 target all game.

I'm just chuckling to myself here...  your team wins, coaching was great and play-calling was great...  your team loses, coaching sucked, play-calling was crap...  never fails, you can book it... 😄

Playcalling is kind of important. We saw it today.

Yeah that's fair I would agree with that. He doesn't have a huge rocket arm.

The question IMO with Hurts is, have we seen what he does best?  What exactly does he do best?  He's a good runner.  He made some nice throws today but as noted, he also missed on some passes.  I'm still confused with what kind of offense they are trying to run with him.  Where are the crossing routes with Smtih and Watkins?  Where are the plays getting Reagor in space?  Any tight end seem routes?  Bubble screens gone?

It's too early to know what we have in Hurts.  If he was someone you build a franchise around though, I think those traits would have flashed by now.  He has the intangibles no doubt.  I just don't know what he does better than the rest.

I had this as a "L" before the season.   Had this as an "L" before the game, but was starting to talk myself into how they could win.  And in the first half, they were the better team for 28 minutes, but only came away with 3 points.  Gross.

I thought the first couple plays he did ok but, then it got away from him a bit.

I think Sirianni needs to sort that out. You have 2 really good weapons across the middle, use them.

To be honest, he doesn't even have an above average arm, rocket is far from it.

I hated that play. Put the ball in the hands of your BEST players. Not Greg fn Ward

I seriously never want to see the Philly Special attempted again.

He has a full season - same as it was before the start of Training camp. Last week, the defenses gave him the underneath and played alot of zone. After that game I shared my concerns that good teams will take that away, and This week 49rs played a lot of man and they took away the underneath and pressured him. The results were expected by me.

I stated before the season I dont think he will win this job this year, but he has all year to do just that.  I would love to be wrong. 15 more games to prove me wrong Jalen.
