I thought this was a good game, in some ways better than Atlanta.

SF is a really good team, physical, disciplined, with a veteran QB. They made the plays they needed to make.

Eagles are in transition, but it's obvious they're not the train wreck than many predicted.

Hurts is a work in progress, but those throws to Watkins and Reagor (even if called back) and the deep throw to Smith, he can throw it 50 yards without it quacking. So let's put the arm strength issue to bed. He's not in the top five, but he's good enough. The bigger problem is recognition, but his young WRs didn't help in this game, and I think there's a reason they got no trade offers for Ertz. Smith will be great, but he got schooled a bit today, Reagor learned about establishing position along the sideline, etc. The bigger problem was Brooks/Lane, the right side was not good enough, and Dickerson isn't quite ready to start at RG (no surprise here, college center misses TC then tries to step in cold).

The defense played well, but the lack of talent in the back seven was obvious, they're not bad, but there's not a single playmaker out there, Nelson was the best of the group.

Dallas has a terrible D.  The Chargers will be in this all game.

This is the #1 problem in the offense. You can't be consistent drive to drive without what is the easiest throw for a QB.

Can’t run WE screens forever. And on that third downs on-throw to Goedert, he wouldn’t even take the easiest throw.

The pressure is already on the Chargers to fire back now.

I'm pretty sure this take is not going to be popular here, but my 20/20 hindsight on the game when compared to what I was expecting going into it is mostly positive.  The Niners have a good team, and they clearly came to play today.  Where the Eagles fell short in the game was often just as much due to the Niners' successful execution as it was due to the Eagles' failure to execute. Last week the Niners scored 41 points.  Today they scored 17 (more than likely only 14 if the delay of game call is made by the refs).  Our Offense fell short, but I definitely liked the fact that all three wide receivers were able to get separation much more consistently than any Eagles receivers were able to get over the past two seasons.  It was definitely discouraging that Hurts' arm strength wasn't sufficient to take advantage of that separation, but that wasn't a surprise.  I believe Sirianni needs to design plays where Hurts can release the ball earlier in the route.  The old expression "throw the receiver open" comes to mind.

Sure the zebras didn't help, but no one likes the zebras.  They are what they are.  The San Fran fans probably are complaining about them too.

All in all, I got my money's worth ... and am looking forward to the Cowboys game.

I just think Smith and Reagor could tear defenses up with quick slants.  The only crossing pattern I really remember was the Gainwell and the throw was behind him.

Ok.  This day is starting to suck.  Started out great though. Shot a 40 on the front.  47 on the back.  Eagles lose in frustrating fashion.  Now Dallas is playing well.

I guess the Phillies offense will go in a shell tonight.

Did you have a Falcons collapse on the back 9?

It's frustrating to know this D-line has a ton of money invested, maybe the richest in the NFL, and when push came to shove they couldn't get the big 3rd and 4th down stops. Not like the Niners have a top 5 o-line either. Frustrating

The issue is that this isn't the first time they've had this problem where they struggle to get stops in the 2nd half of games.  How many times has the O scored a TD only for the D to then allow a TD instead of getting a 3 & out?  Seems it happens quite a bit.  On top of that, they lack play makers who can create TOs.

They were dominant for 1.75 QTRs today then they got pushed around.  Need to be more consistent.

He was here for the year already.  I'd prefer to have him walk away on his terms than by injury.  I always hate to guys leave by injury.

Injuries are awful, especially to Eagles and especially to Eagle greats…but the Eagles needed to embrace the future at DE and on the right side of their OL and they were never going to do it on their own.

You and I saw a lot of the same things.

What exactly is their future at DE bud? Behind Graham is Sweat (OK that's good) and then who? Kerrigan, he isn't the future.

Game awareness again.  Throwing the football 3 rows into the stands doesn’t speak well for football IQ when it’s 4th down.  Hurts wasn’t open — throw it at him anyway; maybe the defense grabs him and you get a first down, maybe the defense loses the ball in the sun and it’s a TD ….. try running the damn ball in.

It wasn’t the right call by NS for sure; I would have taken the gimme FG and kept momentum — but a bad job by players makes the coach’s decision look dumber

That's part of the problem of putting the ball in the hands of your, like, 9th choice on O...  that was just a terrible call...  let your best players make a play, and don't get cute...  not there...  we never recovered from that momentum swing...

Let's hope we can put up plenty of points next week

You might all call me negative, but I’m actually optimistic in my blaming more of this on Hurts than most.  I think the coaching staff, lines, weapons, and overall team talent are a lot closer to competing than we previously thought.  This game looks a lot different with a qb that is a better passer.

That’s the point.

Yep.  Tough final 4 holes.  19 strokes the last 3 holes.  So yes.  Collapse.

I guess you had the same issues finishing that the Eagles had today.

The Cowboys look good. Monday night could be a going to bed early type of game.

Time to embrace the future — Ryan Kerrigan and Tarron Jackson.

Can’t wait.

What's the point? That they don't really have young depth at DE?

You have to think they've talked to him about this

The time for talking has past.  He can't be gone fast enough.  But hey, when he leaves next year, we'll still have dead cap space to remember him by.

Should've taken the dumb clubs out of your hands lol

The three things that irked me. Blocked FG, 1st and goal from the 1 and the BS penalty for hitting to hard robbing us of a week earned TO.

They have, by far, the best offense well have seen so far…but their defense is more Atlanta than SF.

The space saved is carried over. No harm no foul.
