I didn't crown them as good teams... I crowned them better than the Cowboys, and believe they are better than the Eagles.   I had this team pegged for 5 wins before the season.  I think it might be 6 games now.

Agree 6 wins, split with Dallas maybe edge out Carolina.  Raiders look good tho.

It was just timing!

Yeah, anyone who thinks that is crazy. Hurts threw the ball maybe 45 yards.

I don’t think it ever should have taken Graham’s injury to make DE a priority.

QB is too combustible to debate, so we can table that position for now.

I do think the right side of the OL is a bigger priority though.  Kelce is going to retire, Brooks is nearly toast due to injury, and we are just waiting on the other shoe to drop with Lane.  That’s 3 spots and all we have is Dickerson.

I was actually worried about Lanes ankle vs Bosa. Figured it was going to give him problems. Was not expecting Brooks to be the one to go down first

Graham was old before his injury.
Barnett was a Jag before this season started.
It should have been a priority already.  That’s the problem with this team.  Front Office waiting for 33 year old (past their prime) players to breakdown before they draft a replacement.

It was always a priority but now is perhaps top priority.

Yeah obviously you can say QB but my gut feeling says Hurts/Minshew will be the best possible situation going into 2022. A lot can change though.

Yeah OLine is definitely a possibility. Even a LT with Mailata switching to the right side.

Need to take a good long look at Mailata against speed rushers and as a pass protector over 17 games.  If he locks it down, then we need a RT.  If there are some concerning cracks, then I’d be open to the switch as maybe look for a finesse pass protector.

It won't come to that, Howie will throw in the farm for Watson.

Be interesting to see what happens in Houston of Tyrod Taylor’s injury is serious and Davis Mills doesn’t play well.

So 45 yards is a stretch ??

I don’t know why you would switch Mailata.  If he continues to progress, you keep him right where he’s at.  We def need to draft a replacement for RT.

Of course…if he continues to progress, which he has.  If there is concern with speed around the edge ( a little bit last year, none to my knowledge so far this year), then you can think about it.

If Dickerson’s future is C, then we need RG too.

Andre Dillard.  Can’t get more finesse, at LT, than that.

He busted, but I do think he was a very good LT prospect before it all went downhill.

it was the critical situations that let the Eagles down, 5/12 on 3rd down and obviously 0/1 on 4th down.

The Eagles were a handful of plays away from winning, that's football.

they need to be better running the ball while the coaching staff figures things out.

In Atlanta running backs ran 24 times for 111 yards and a TD.  Today just 19 runs for 69 yards.

And Hurts' arm didnt look so bad throwing to Watkins.  His arm is plenty strong enough

That's why they play the game.   We'll see.

I don’t understand how anyone could have watched today’s game and come away with that conclusion.  And I’m not really someone who emphasizes arm strength.

Hurts' arm strength is TBD.  At times it looks sufficient and other times seems not strong enough.

If the Eagles do end up with 3 1st round picks my guess is it’d be (in no particular order)… OL, DL, secondary

Veach said when they drafted CEH that he was better than Westbrook. No way, no how

I dont think the strength of his arm is the problem.

I find it interesting that AR, one of the founding fathers of the NFL aerial pass only onslaught era, still insists on keeping a FB on the roster.

I would much prefer Dickerson at guard then center.   He’s huge.  I don’t know why everyone keeps penciling him in at center when Kelce is gone.  I think for his size, road grading guard can be more valuable than a center.

He played C at Alabama.  Played OG at FSU.  He can do either.  At RG, he could be good... he needs time and to stay healthy.

Mailata handled Bosa today. He won.

The throw to Watkins sorta throws some shade on the idea he can't throw a deep ball... that was a beautiful 50-yard pass on a dime, and pretty effortless to boot...  I'm hoping they're still working on his mechanics, and that's why we haven't seen some more versatility in his throws...  we'll see I guess...

The more I watch, the more I think he has that Lamar Jackson mechanics issue.  When he throws all arm he's getting some range on the ball...when he sets and has time, uses 'mechanics' he struggles to hit the mark.  Maybe the arm strength is there...but I think he's just a natural all arm passer.  The throw the Watkins he had no room the step up or do anything, he just heaved it.

A throw where he has a perfect platform from which to launch the ball is nice.  But, what about those plays where he won't/can't have a perfect platform?   What about the 20 yard out from the opposite hash on a rope?   I haven't seen any 'rope' type passes from him for more than about 10 yards away from him (like the Goedert throw in the Atlanta game).   Can he throw the ball with any velocity when off platform?  I haven't seen it yet.

See my above response...the throw to watkins IIRC he didn't have a platform at all he just slung it without his feet being set.

He just doesn’t process things quick enough. Mechanics are definitely part of it but I think it’s mostly his inability to process through his progressions and see things presnap.

Amateur Observation:

Hurts throws more accurate while scrambling than in the pocket while set.

I'm pretty sure he just stood in the pocket as a statue staring down Watkins on that play.

It’s not fair we got stuck with Jalen "one read” Hurts and the Chiefs have that guy

Depending on who provides the opinion, Hurts' arm strength ranges from problematically deficient to average/strong enough.  Then the $1billion question...how long is a franchise willing to wait on a 6' 2nd round pick with average at best arm strength to work on mechanics, polish, progressions, timing, etc?

Hurts has 15 more games to provide an emphatic answer.

I got home at almost 9 o clock. I had 7 hours of horrible, sloppy youth football, and a bunch of crying kids writhing on the field for things like getting a finger stepped on.

I did not feel like watching the game, yet. I had enough football.

I dont always take the time to watch a DVRd loss. But on my drive home I talked to my friend who was a 49ers fan. He really spoke highly of the eagles today. He felt they dominated pretty much the whole game and should have won. There was the reagor TD that got called back. He also spoke of a very bad spot by the refs where I guess the eagles should have had a 1st down. He said our defense looks awesome.

I think most of us knew this wouldnt be a spectacular season. But Im encouraged by his impression of the game, and this team. I may actually watch this loss.

I read every page of this thread, and it sounds like his assessment isnt too far from what happend. Of course, the red zone offense is frustrating, and it seems like Reid at times, Sirianna  likes to get too cute. Saw evidence of that last week too even in a convincing win.

My friend thinks Hurts is ok. But did say we probably win with a better QB.

I feel like if Watson can get cleared sooner than later, we throw the farm at Houston for him and make the playoffs easily.  Not just make playoffs, but actually make noise in the playoffs.
