Forgot about that. He got drafted by the Phillies but refused to sign, correct?

Yup. And he never wound up being nearly as good as i believe his agent was trying to build him up as. I believe his agent was Boras and was hyping him up like he was Bryce Harper. Never turned out to be close to that.

Even Chip Kelly is more of a meh to me.  It was a failed experiment.  The trading of DJack and Shady are inexcusable and his arrogance was next level but he's proven that he's built for the college game.   He brought a philosophy, mentality and a system he believed in to the Eagles and he failed.

Ben Simmons doesn't try.  He panics and fails under pressure.  He doesn't apply himself and work to improve.  He doesn't accept blame and is scared to succeed.  He has all of talent in the world.  He has LeBron James type of talent...yet he doesn't apply himself.  There are games you watch and you know if Simmons wanted to, he could take over and dominate the game but he doesn't.

If Ben Simmons was out there doing everything in his power to improve and become a better player, if he was taking the shots in the games and trying to be the best he could it would be harder to hate him.  TO, Rolen, and even Chip Kelly were 100% devoted to the game.  You can't question any of their efforts and passion for the game whereas you look at Ben Simmons and can say he just doesn't care.

I agree with all that but if you said two Philly sports figures over the last decade that were hated the most by the city and fan base i would put chip and Ben at the top of that. Chip was universally hated by the time he left. Similar to Simmons. I’d put wentz up there but i don’t think he’s nearly at the level as those two

But what about those videos he posts every offseason of his shooting in a gym?

Coward wouldn't even work with a coach the team hired and just worked out with his brother.  How many pro basketball players has his brother developed?  I'm guessing somewhere around zero.

Ben's issues are 100% about Ben.  He doesnt want to be great at the game, he wants the game to make his life great without putting in the work.  Its a real shame.  The guy is so unbelievably gifted athleticly that he should be a dominant force, but the hole in his game is so big, even he could put a basketball into it from 15 feet away consistently. (That's a mighty big hole.)

People hate Howie more than Chip now.  Chip is irrelevant now.  Howie is still making decisions and messing up the team for the future.  Howie is a current problem.  Chip was yesterday's problem.

Meh.  Simmons was the top prospect in a weak NBA draft class.  Only played one NCAA season, and didn’t have an outside shot in college either — he just can’t shoot.  Couple that inherent limitation with the ‘don’t give a crap attitude’ you speak on and the Sixers have what they’ve got.  I think you’re overrating his ceiling.

He needs to be switched to SF, because you can’t count on him with the ball in his hands — especially late in games, and teams don’t have to honor his outside shot AT ALL.  His niche should be taking the pass, getting in off the wing, and powering the ball into the hoop — or kicking the ball back out to a 3-point SG.

I’ll disagree on that one. People are mad and upset at howie right now. However after he’s gone and years go by people will still view him better than chip as he won a super bowl. Chip was an arrogant ahole and failed

He is afraid of being fouled now and having to shoot from the foul line.  He's not going to be useful as a take it to the rim guy either.  In the playoffs, he'll be a huge liability every year until he can hit foul shots.

Yup if he was just a 70% free throw shooter i think it makes a huge difference for him going and wanting to go to the line.

Burks is the best WO in college football , and it’s not close  ,IMO , love  to see him with a top QB

He told.lebron a few years ago that he can't become a super star over night and he can't become a good shooter over night. Lebron told him to.keep chipping away at it lol. I don't think lebron meant to take this effing long lol.

Lebron was kind of giving him that look like yeah whatever, the more Ben kept saying it over and over.

Ben thinks he's a superstar though.  And I will go to my grave believing that if they had done an offense/defense platoon with him in the 4th quarter of every playoff game (like I said that they were going to have to consider in Round 1), the Sixers would have won that series against Atlanta.   I suppose they considered it, and then they considered Ben's feelings and preferred the early exit than to actually hold Ben accountable.    Playing time and embarrassing him publicly by pulling him out of the 4th quarter for an offensive replacement in Maxie at every chance would have sent a message.   For that matter, if they had just left Maxie in the game for the full 4th quarter, they might have won anyway.   Ben was a bigger offensive liability than he was a defensive asset.

Absolutely, Ben is a good to great defender. However, I don't think he is the best defender on his own team I think Thybulle is. Anyways, with the way the league is set up for scoring his defense will never be a big enough as an impact to make up for his absolute trash on offense.

Doc Rivers enabled him even more and there was no way he would want to go back on all the things he said about Ben to then bench him even in the playoffs. Doc should be getting his ass handed to him too for that crap. Not the first time Doc would of got canned for catering to the stars while the rest of the team fell apart.

I agree Maxie was more then capable of giving the sixers the boost they needed. Another flaw of Doc not letting the youngsters play even if they are the better option.

Moore for NC State is a player , just made 3 stops in a row on the last drive , played the run and the pass

I’m not a big McNabb guy, but Owens was 100% in the wrong in every way possible.  Signs a 7-year contract and wants to renegotiate one year into it — then turns on McNabb because he didn’t "have his back”.

Neither one of them could be called easy to get along with or emotionally mature, but Owens’ track record of being a knob was much longer.  Didn’t even show up to his HOF induction because he couldn’t even get along with them.  The guy would be in a mental asylum if he didn’t have money.

Yep, on part with what I've been saying.  He doesn't want to be great but has every tool you need to be one of the best.  It's the most frustrating thing.

He was solid just never as good as the hype was. Like harper had that type of hype and lived up to it especially his mvp year. Drew was always solid to good. Never a generational type talent like was made out to be

Yea, I can't recall a QB as of late (last 5 years or so) who was being so highly touted as the next great thing, who showed signs of greatness when Lawrence was out last year, only to get the job and then crap the bed.  I thought he'd be in discussion for the top pick in the 2023 draft but geez right now he's looking like the next Logan Thomas/Tyree Jackson project.

Yeah TO was pissed about that because McNabb went to bat for Westbrook... Well yeah no sheet, TO just signed a deal and Westbrook was coming off his rookie contract.why the hell would McNabb go to bat for someone that just signed. TO was a dope.

Sure...  don't forget Doug, Wentz, Foles, Jenkins and a host of others.   And if they could move on from them once it became apparent that it wasn't working anymore, they can move on from Howie now that he's proven to need to go.
