Peters time in the NFL should have ended about 3 years ago, that teams still continue to pay him is sad statement on the state of LTs in the league 

Super Bowl hangover for teams that lose the Super Bowl is real.  Only team to really bounce back was the Cheatriots.   Almost all the others in recent years (over 2 decades now, I think) have missed the playoffs the next year.   I don't expect that with KC this year, but its possible.

AFC feels more "wide open” this year compared to last few years. I have a hard time picking a favorite from that conference so far

It's fine as a penalty, as long as it is for egregious infractions.  If it's a minor thing, or whatever, let it go.  These are big boys getting paid to play a game.  If they don't like the trash talk and what not, that's fine, they don't have to play.   But, frankly, its a little ridiculous most of the time it's been called.
