Hurts' job is not to pad stats but score points, he's the leader of the offense.

If the Eagles score more than 25 ppg he's a success. That's about the median offense (24.8).

Given the Eagles relative offensive skill talent (OL above average, TEs above average, WRs?, RBs average) that would be a good season for essentially a rookie QB.

People put too much weight on QB stats, QB yardage does not win games, offensive TDs win games.

We've been over this... you can't take a single stat and elevate it to this level to make it one stat to define success.  Even wins and losses, in a vacuum is not a proper measure.  Context, context, context.

Hurts will be a success if he is progressing as a QB, making the right reads, eliminating bad plays and not overly relying on his legs to make up for other deficiencies in his game.

Garbage time points scored if the back 7 turn out to be terrible is a meaningless measurement.  CONTEXT.

Offensive TDs do not win games.  Check the 2000 Ravens... nary an offensive TD for about 11 straight games... and yet they won.   Context.

There is?   Not so sure.  The offense didn't become dynamic when Hurts entered the games.  And innovation isn't the issue when the plan is to throw a flanker screen to Greg Ward.   That's just not understanding how to 'put players in the best position to make plays'.  One of the biggest issues was not using the personnel properly.

and the penchant for playing old washed up guys instead of younger developing guys. Playing Peters over Mailata, or Alshon over anybody last year was a complete and utter joke. The whole team saw that happening and it had to be a gut wrenching killing of any and all motivation....

Then why are you trying to say that's his job? Quarterbacks job is passing the ball and finding and hitting open receivers. It's the whole offenses job to score points.

You have found the loophole for when the points don't come.  Howie specialty.

Whoever And is will be more valuable than Nola.  His issues might be between his ears by now.  He has regressed so much.

And by his metric you are punishing the QB for missed field goals, turnovers etc @austinfan.  If you go 5 for 6 for 68 yards on a drive and the RB fumbles inside the 5, how is that the QB's fault, and you are punishing him with the points scored metric.

Huge upgrade

Desperate to have something to post.   Dude is wearing a T-shirt with a number on it walking around in shorts.   Take a pic, and post it to Twitter.   Awesome action shot.  Dickerson definitely looks like he was worth the #37 pick.

Cowherd has Eagles 3-14. We’re going to be good

We drafted a safety last year who we need to find out about. Wallace time.

So what’s the smoke with Dickerson?  I am shocked and will admit I was wrong.  I thought he would have been on the IR or very limited to start the season.  If/when he’s ready he needs to slid to LG.  Will he be used early?

Hasn't taken a snap.  When we see him in pads, I'll start to get interested.

Called that months ago.  And who knows how effective he'll be.  Older and injured.  Not a good combination.  Pretty shallow in the secondary.  Probably would have been good to target in the draft.  But hey, we have a back up center.  So that's something.

And a backup QB. Not like Jeremy Chinn would help the team.

Is this new for this team though?   Seems like the standard now.  Even drafted a kid that was younger and oft-injured, just so he'd fit in with the culture.

17th in pass yards/ game was 248

17th td% was Minshew at 4.4

17th in pass completion was also Minshew at 66%

Where would hurts have to fall along those 3 to be considered successful

Say if he's 17th in all 3 is that good enough going forward hoping for improvement?

Talib was the worst color commentator I've ever heard. I can't believe anyone would actually want to watch a game with him.

My comments were really regarding the lack of the use of motion.  That's a fair point and ultimately all of the problems fall on Doug as he likely had the most control.  I do think there were a lot of factors the played into the failure to utilize motion.  I really can't find any stats on use of pre-snap motion with Hurts vs. Wentz.

bacarty is the Talib of this message board.  His posts hurt my eyes.

Assuming all the offensive linemen other than Dickerson dress on Sunday, who do you think would be the in-game replacement at each position if the starter went out? I would guess it would go something like this:

LT -- Dillard

LG -- Herbig

C -- Herbig

RG -- Herbig

RT -- Toth? (or would you move Mailata to RT and put Dillard at LT?)

I have never turned on someone (for the positive) as much as I did for Talib.  I went from hating him to loving him, in the manner of 1 quarter.  Maybe it was the Vodka.  I don't know.

Same here.  I'm waiting for Marshawn Lynch to become an analyst and calling games with Joe Buck.

I liked Talib as a commentator 🤷‍♂️

You're too sensitive.

Talib is the Jalen Hurts of broadcasters. Mostly bad, a flash here and there with a seemingly strong (and small) support group for some reason.

Omar is one of my favorite characters all-time. Michael K. Williams was fantastic in that role.  He was also great in Boardwalk.  Such as sad loss.
