Ive been going back and forth in my head on this.  Im hoping its a learning opportunity for Sirianni

I think hes in a weird spot where he knows Hurts cant run his offense, but knows his offense is good and works

So his dilemma, as a first year coach:

--Do whatever he needs to do to make Hurts successful?   Meaning run basically an RPO offense.   Easier said that done when hes getting his first and maybe only shot to be HC and playcaller.

--Run his own offense and let Hurts sink or swim.  We have to figure that out, right?  Should we gear everything towards Hurts?? Doesnt seem right since the open secret is that he's not the guy long term.

Its easy to say, option 1 is best for the team.  But is it, really?

If this is Hurts... he gets about half of this season to prove that he's not improving, and then they turn the keys over to Minshew, who is not a great QB by any standards, but should allow them to run a more 'traditional' offense.  And they start the evaluation process for who stays and who goes moving forward.

This is worrisome to me.  Seumalo doesn't come off as the kind of guy who is going to attack his rehab and recover quickly.  He'll be going on 29 next October, the last year on his contract.  This is his biggest challenge yet.

So much for a good O line.

Looks like it will be Dickerson and Herbig going forward at guard.

I woke up and I just feel numb towards this team.  I'm struggling to find the positives and I'm really trying to.  I'm talking about young, positives who are going to make up the core of this team moving forward.   I'm not including Hargrave, there's no way he's here when the team is ready to compete.  Same with Miles Sanders and Dallas Goedert.  I don't think they are going to be back.  Why would Sanders want to be here?

-Watkins is a player

-Smith, based off college production and potential but Ja'Marr Chase is showing out every week (doesn't hurt to have Burrow)  Smith, you need to step up.

-Sweat, in a limited/rotational role

-Mailata, if healthy

-Sippos, hell even he's 28

-Gainwell

-Milton Williams, if they can find a home for him

Reagor, maybe

Punters can last for a good long time.  His age is immaterial to me.

Speaking of Slay, him and Nelson have probably been the best CB duo we’ve had in a really long time. It’ll be interesting to follow them over course of the year, but it hasn’t been talked about much how they’ve consistently done a good job against WR. Cooper and Lamb had some decent plays but weren’t putting on a show like they’re capable of doing. Our LB and S have been getting exposed bad though, can’t wait for Rodney to be back in the lineup, I think he’ll help Mask some of the issues

I agree they've looked good.  Don't forget Maddox, he's played well back in his natural position.  You're expectations for McLeod are too high though.  He was declining before the injury and now he's a 30+ year old coming off a torn ACL.

That’s what I thought.  Dumb comment.   Philly fans supported the ever living ish out of Simmons.   So much so that they cheered wildly when he made 3’s.  Up until he quit and passed up a wide open dunk in a playoff game.  So, try again.  Or better yet.  Don’t.

It has nothing to do with support. It has to do with an inner desire for chaos and getting off on it.

Can Johnson stay healthy until Mailata is back??

This roster for all the band aids is not good, and the glory of it all is the idiot in charge has made the cap position significantly worse by doing it.  Yes we want to compete, but not at the detriment to the future.  The Barnett cap move is brain dead on a brain dead player.

Someone in the Eagles org needs to make Barnett accountable for his stupidity. Trade him to Jacksonville/wherever, deactivate him. Make him watch his team mates suffer because he just can't stop being a moron. Maybe he will finally learn.

Howie knows what he's doing.   He brought in some top tier Free agents this year, too.   Let me think... Joe Flacco, Eric Wilson, Anthony Harris.  They are doing wonders for this team.  The back 7 is much improved.  Davion Taylor is really stepping forward.  Alex Singleton looks like the CFL DPOY out there.  And the restructures given to all those vets is paying off handsomely.

So Eric Wilson sucks

Ryan Kerrigan is still on a milk carton

Flacco is burning 5M sitting on a bench in a lost year

Anthony Harris is ok at best

The first guy we signed was cut and immediately picked up by his old super bowl contending team

Great offseason by Howie. Killed it.

Kinda sucks that none of the QBs next year look any good.

At some point we're going to have to talk about Minshew.  Putting up 37 TDs/11 Ints, over 5500 yards in 23 games (20 starts) in freaking Jacksonville is nothing to scoff at.

Dickerson had no TC and no pre-season. The kid is playing like it; but it doesn't mean he sucks.  The issue is playing him when he is so undercooked when you have Herbig as a backup.

Let's hope he can continue to play.  Was limping fairly significantly coming off the field last night.  Short turn around for Sunday.  Will he be ready?   Herbig steps in for Seumalo now.  Opeta likely moves up to the 53 now.  Sounds a lot like last year's OL.

I think that’s a fair assessment.

I agree. And on top of that being totally one dimensional with no threat of a run game is a recipe for disaster.

Dallas stacked the LOS and dared him to throw the ball down the field.

I think for the good of the team and what's best for the future they need to sit Dickerson.  If that means playing Opeta, Toth or Driscoll at RG so be it.  He just isn't healthy yet.

Dickerson tore his ACL on December 19.  Dickerson is 6-6 330 lbs. had already torn his ACL once prior to go along with 2 season ending ankle injuries.

McLeod tore his ACL on December 13.  McLeod is 5-10 195 lbs. and had torn an MCL in 2018.

The fact that McLeod has sat out the first 3 games whereas Dickerson played in 2 already tells me that they have mismanaged Dickerson's workload.  They tore their ACL's within 6 days of each other yet one guy is getting 28 extra days before playing in a game.  That doesn't make sense to me.

DE is a weak spot.  Should have been a focus the past few drafts.  But we drafted 5 wide receivers, and we think two can play.

and a Running qb in the 2nd round....

Made this reference before, he’s a terrific fantasy player. Look at the boxscore afterwards and you’d think he played well.

Which is why fantasy football and aggregate stats are worthless.

I agree, was just putting the age there because I was trying to point out the young talent on the team.

Dickerson is also younger and everyone's body heals differently.  Some quicker than others.

It's really pathetic.  They should cut Barnett and Kerrigan tomorrow.  Play Tarron Jackson, sign a street FA and move forward.  Hell bring back Joe Ostman and play him at DE.  At least you'll get 100% effort.

To be candid, Hurts looked like a college QB playing against professionals last night.  The true test for Sirianni might be whether he can look Howie and Lurie in the eyes at some point this season and say "I can’t work with this”.

I predicted the Eagles would be 2-7 through the first nine games so I’m not as shocked/disappointed as some.  A lot of draft picks out there last night — Smith needs to be a lot better, Dickerson needs to improve each week, Milton Williams was invisible …… trial by fire for these young guys

I had them at 5 wins before the season.  They are helped by having the Giants on the schedule twice, WFT twice and the Jets.  But those might be the only Ws left if they can't get this straightened out.  I wasn't surprised by last night's outcome, or even the way it played out.  But that doesn't make it less painful to witness.

We're on to Kansas City.......😔

Howie hasn’t has a good offseason since 2017. Biggest reason why Dallas looks superior. They actually draft well and their young players have an impact every year.

It’s unreal this dude is still GM. Just unfathomable.

can’t wait to see him trade all the first for Rattler and then Rattler sucks worse than Hurta

I get it but at the same time, there was no reason to rush Dickerson back.  They told us all along we might not see him for a while and then bam, week 2.  He doesn't look healthy to me.

I didn't think he'd get fired last year.
I think it may happen this year.
