Because you don't blame a rookie WR for a pick six that was entirely your own fault. That's bush league level garbage and has no place anywhere on this team, let alone from its supposed "leader".

I think you’re putting way too much into that exchange. It could have been as simple as "F, nothing is going right. What a S night.”

Anyone have the video of it? I don't remember seeing it but a bunch of people caught it

I still think the eagles will be in that game. Carolina tends to keep even bad teams like the Jets and texans in those games. Jets lost by 5. And texans were in that game 14-6 going into the 4th. Even the Saints they let hang around after going up 17-0. It was 17-7 with 8 mins left and then Jameis went jameis.

we will still lose but I’m think it’s close going into the fourth.

If you know you threw a horrible pass that gifted the other team 7 pts, the only reason to ask your receiver why he fell, and then roll your eyes after acting incredulous about it, is to deflect blame away from yourself. That pass was getting picked regardless of whether Smith fell or not. We know it, Hurts knows it, but Smith might not, at least not in that moment.

Of course this draft is a weak QB year.

I doubt in that moment Hurts realized how bad the pass was. He probably legit thought the fall resulted in the pick.

Obviously that wasn’t the case. It was six regardless.

It was supposedly strong last year…

Poor Fran. He has to do God’s work to polish that turd of a game.

I just hope we don't go for Rattler. He's got bust written all over him.

I did not see this.  I know he was upset and talking to Smith.  I don't know that he blamed Smith.  I really don't think I can blame him for being upset.

Frankly they don’t have to take a QB and build the team up. But you damn well Know lurie and howie aren’t going to sit around for another year without having the "franchise” QB. If hurts fails this year and i could bet on draft kings or fan duel or mgm the eagles taking or trading for a QB I’d put a ton of money on it.

We should still have a shot.   That team is beatable.  Sirianni needs to greatly improve as a play caller and Hurts needs to stop regressing.

The Hurts pick 6 was a horrible pass/decision, but Smith has to improve his play strength. Something like that has happened to him a few times already.

It was a frustrating game for everyone. Afterward he took the blame for the loss. No need to kill him for that exchange, or to make it some kind referendum on his leadership.

The defense deserves some blame, it's easy to forget Hurts had a drive that got them to 27-14 with lots of time left, even after the pick 6, that's when your defense has to step up. Oh well.

Yes, the defense that spent a ton of time on the field was gassed by the end of the game.   You are correct, they get some of the blame.  No one has absolved them, but the offense was so putrid that that's where the attention is found.  Let's not forget, the only points for the majority of the game for the Eagles were the result of a terrible play by the offense, followed by a great play by the defense.   The defense was far from good enough, and the offense was far from NFL caliber.   That said, the most important question moving forward is the QB.  We all knew (or should have known) that the back 7 was going to be putrid and they were going to give up points... a lot of points... this season.  The only way the Eagles would be winning games would be by outscoring their opponents in shoot outs, not by winning defensive battles.  And until the back 7 gets addressed, that will continue to be the case.

That pass was going to get picked off whether Smith fell down or not.

So Dillard's not a big crybaby piece of crap after all

most QBs  no matter how good they were in college , should redshirt their first year , IMO  ,  you’ll ruin the majority of them sending them out there right away … sit behind a quality veteran and learn the NFL for a year  .

I think he knew how bad the pass was and he definitely knew that Smith fell. A QB going up to a receiver to ask him what happened when he was literally staring him down the whole time is weird to me if his motives were anything other than to deflect from his horrible pass.

He fell, so not sure how to not let that happen.

I bet Doug enjoyed last night immensely.

Spencer Rattler was on the Netflix special blaming his team mates for losing a game.  He looked terribly selfish and unwilling to accept any role in the team's failure.  He's probably number 1 on Howie's draft board.

RTK is correct.

That was getting picked no matter what.
