Well we don't need to be bad all by ourselves. The Dolphins are doing a good job of that as well. Lol

We need them to keep getting worse.  I'd love two top 10 picks.  Even better if one of them (Dolphins) ends up top 5.

In theory it’s what they should do but lurie isn’t going to do that. He’s not going another season without getting his QB. I don’t even think it needs to be a drafted QB. I don’t rule them out of russell Wilson if he becomes available or watson.

This scares me.  We would pay a kings ransom for those QB's and the defense would be just abysmal.  But it will sell merchandize so Lurie will be happy.

Well in that case we are still not getting rid of Howie. Lurie seems to be in the mindset it's the coaches fault and never Howie.

Which is why you'd have to hope for an epic collapse of the roster for Lurie to come to his senses and realize that the current set-up is broken from the top down.  It is a lot to ask for... but I will ask for that 'come to Jesus moment' for Lurie.  And it needs to happen before Howie gets to draft this year.

Then he's our guy!  Fits in perfectly.  If he blows his knee out this year, you can bet he'll be the pick in the 2nd round.

Not sure if miami finishes top 5. They still have the Jets twice. Get New England at home where belichick teams tend to not play well. Also still got the jags, houston, atlanta and giants. So that’s likely 4 wins more wins added onto the 2 from the Jets. Bringing them up to 7. Plus they nearly beat the 3-0 raiders with brissett. He is a upgrade from Tua. I’d have more confidence they could lose some of those games cause tua isn’t good and brissett when given reps and practice time is competent.

A leopard doesn't change its spots is the exact reason why i know they will make a move either draft or trade to get a QB. I had the discussion with big E about a month ago about the eagles history of what the eagles have done to get a good backup and a franchise QB dating all the way back to when they brought in Garcia.

I’m shocked! I’m actually not. This is what i was talking about Monday night. Legitimately he did this sort of thing all night and when he did make the right read he threw behind his receiver. They should break down the 3rd and 5 to goedert where it’s a good play call cause goedert like smith in that video has enough cushion to make the catch and get extra yards after to pick up the first. Instead hurts throws it behind him and to the defender instead of leading goedert. Riddick also pointed out during the game he had a wide open touchdown (i believe it was either goedert or ertz— waiting for the all 22 if it comes on game pass) if hurts makes the the throw.

sirianni deserves to be bashed for not calling enough running plays regardless. That was idiotic not to when hurts was bad. However the passing game would’ve looked a lot better if our QB could make the simple throws, made the right reads and put the ball where it should be.

Not making the right read also falls on Sirianni.  They have these images immediately available.  I think the problem, in part, is that Sirianni is not emphasizing processing speed during practice.

If I am comparing Watson to Hurts?

No Brainer

what about Watson vs, any qb prospect coming potentially coming out in 2022 draft?

Thats all I need to know.

We have too many holes to be trading for a QB who will be 27 next year. I rather draft a young QB when they find the right guy

Well then we have to get used to Dallas putting 40-50 on us every game.

I believe he had one surgery , the second was a cleanup on same knee ,but he is back , nothing lingering or restricting him

Complete lack of drafting success?

2018:  Goeddert (49), Maddox (125), Sweat (130), Pryor (206), Mailata (233)

2019:  Dillard (22), Sanders (53), JJAW (57), Miller (138), Thorson (167)

2020:  Reagor (21), Hurts (53), Taylor (103), Wallace (127), Driscoll (145), Hightower (168), Bradley (196), Watkins (200), Prince (210), Toohill (233)

2021:  Smith (10), Dickerson (37), Williams (73), McPhearson (123), Gainwell (150), Tuipulotu (189), Jackson (191), Stevens (224), Johnson (234)

Goeddert could be argued was a bad use of resources, cost picks (which we had few of) in order to draft a #2 TE.  #2 TEs grow on trees.  They are always available in the mid rounds.  He has never become what he was drafted to be.  Part of that is that Ertz is still here, but either way, as a way of building the roster, it wasn't a good pick.

Sweat is a rotational DE.  Not a bad pick, a pretty good one for Round 5. But, nothing to really write home about.  We'll see if he lives up to his extension based on his extended playing time this year.

Mailata was a 'great' risk to take in Round 7.  Seems to be paying off.  We need him to stay healthy now.

Dillard is still very much a "?".  He lost the battle at LT to Mailata and has yet to prove he can be a swing tackle.  What do they do with him in the offseason?  Then we'll know if that was a good pick or not.  Right now he is in the category of 'hasn't produced much of anything' for the team.  Results on the field matter and Dillard's are few and far between.

Sanders is a nice player, but nice RBs are available throughout the draft.  To be worthy of a 2nd round pick, the RB needs to produce (and be used) at a level like Shady was.  Sanders hasn't been.  Blame the coaches, blame the pick.  RBs are guys that can be added later and produce at Sanders' level.  Nice pick, but not a pillar to build a case upon.

Reagor is still a disappointment and remains in the shadow of the guy picked right behind him.  And he's struggling in the PR role, which was supposed to be one of his strengths entering the NFL.  No way he can be counted as a draft success.  He's still leaning heavily to the 'bust' side of the coin.

Hurts?  Really?  After that game and the snowball effect that pick has had you want to call that a good pick?

Watkins has made a couple nice plays, and for a 6th round pick, that's good value.  Not a cornerstone of the franchise.  Not to be expected from a 6th round pick, but when none of the other picks are either... someone has to step into that role.

Too soon to point to any of the rookies and declare them a good pick.  Smith has looked promising.  Dickerson has looked lost.  And Williams in the regular season has looked invisible.  Way too soon to label them at all, other than... TBD.

And none of those picks you listed have a chance (outside of maybe Mailata and Sanders) to sniff a Pro Bowl in the near future.  Good drafting teams find Pro Bowlers every now and then.  Last Pro Bowler drafted by the Eagles was traded away because of the Hurts pick.   The one before that was in 2012.  (You could argue Lane Johnson, but that's in the shadows of the Chip Kelly era... but even that was 2013.). Where are the 'cornerstone' pieces for this franchise to build on moving forward?  We have some fast aging vets and a few 'nice' players, surrounded by a bunch of jags and wannabes.

Possibly. I think hurts had some of the same problems last year that many glossed over and have revealed themselves this year. I didn’t think doug did a great job utilizing guys in this offense or catering to their strengths.

the point is if you’re starting quarterback can’t make the routine and easy throws and right decisions with the ball or staying in the pocket then your offense is not gonna be very good regardless of who’s the head coach. Even the great Kyle Shanahan with nick mullens in his 9 starts last year only scored 20 ppg and thats with one of the better coaches in the league.

These issues we are seeing at QB are similar to what happened with wentz last year where he missed open guys, poor ball placement, issues at times with deep ball accuracy and last game turnovers.

Not me, I'd rather obtain a proven QB, since so few actually pan out. Give me a guy we 100% know can play in the NFL. Especially considering how poorly Howie drafts.

Nope, much rather spend wisely and know the capital draft picks I use for Trading for QB is bringing actual value, over picks like Jjaw, Reagor, Dillard, Hurts etc.

Oh, I don't think it will happen, but I really hope it will.  If the Colts' pick is that low, I can't see Wentz meeting the 75% snaps threshold, and I don't want to watch this team end up there, though it might be the only way to get Howie out.

uhh....27 is young for QB.  Most other holes can be fixed relatively quickly.  I mean Hurts was the player most responsible for the loss.  The concern about Watson is that he's a serial sexual predator.

I’ve said for a while now i don’t think this team is getting out of this downward spiral til at least 2023 at the earliest and really you could see it extending into 2024 or 2025 if they didn’t get better at drafting and handing out better contracts. And that assumes we find our franchise QB during all that which isn’t a given.

the theory in the nfl its a quick turnaround league. a quick fix can happen. I wish i had the post from the old board where i went into detail about 32 teams when they did rebuilds and a good portion of league that took closer to 4 years to get back to playoff contenders.

And I'm still in the Rodgers camp as well.Having hime for 4-5 years will be much better than anything else we could get.

Depends what the asking price turns out to be.  If the Eagles have two firsts and two seconds -- yes, the path I'd probably choose is to build the roster first, then get the QB as the final piece, which means use those 4 picks on S, CB, LB, and DE to beef up the talent level on defense.  Watson is a unique circumstance in that he's a QB with a lot of prime years left (probably 8-10) who could be had at a discounted price -- both because he's vowed never to play for HOU again which takes away their leverage, and his legal issues which might scare competitive offers away.

If Watson could be acquired for a 1st, a 2nd, a player in return (Hurts), and a future draft pick in 2023 then it might be an option worth exploring.  You'd have a top 5-10 QB, still have a good supply of draft capital, and not hinder yourself too badly moving forward.

I firmly believe if the colts are 4-8 or 3-9 after week 11 and 12 against the bills and bucs that there’s a chance they come up with "his ankles are really doing bad” and IR him for the rest of the year knowing they aren’t making the playoffs or it’s a long shot
