He's bounced around quite a bit already, but -- hey -- it's a practice squad signing with no real cost or risk.

Lol at Matt Patricia

I’ve said for a while now i don’t think this team is getting out of this downward spiral til at least 2023 at the earliest and really you could see it extending into 2024 or 2025 if they didn’t get better at drafting and handing out better contracts. And that assumes we find our franchise QB during all that which isn’t a given.

the theory in the nfl its a quick turnaround league. a quick fix can happen. I wish i had the post from the old board where i went into detail about 32 teams when they did rebuilds and a good portion of league that took closer to 4 years to get back to playoff contenders.

It’s basically all down to finding a decent starting QB. If you do that, the fix is pretty easy. If you don’t it spirals out of control.

I think you want more than decent. Cause that’s what you got in 2018 and 2019 (for the most part) and were a 9 win team. The best chance you have to become a super bowl contender is if you find a good to elite QB. With how the eagles drafting has been just getting a decent QB and winning with a great roster around him isn’t a given to happen.

We need them to keep getting worse.  I'd love two top 10 picks.  Even better if one of them (Dolphins) ends up top 5.

Would be even better if they fire Howie to use those picks but we all know Lurie will go with the idea that Howie got us those picks so he should be able.to.use them.

Ugh it's never going to.end

Not making the right read also falls on Sirianni.  They have these images immediately available.  I think the problem, in part, is that Sirianni is not emphasizing processing speed during practice.

I addressed this earlier.  There is a physical ceiling to processing speed.  Some brains work faster than others.  And it has nothing to do with intelligence, we are talking microseconds.  But that matters in football, when the play only lasts for 3-4 seconds.  Some QBs are better than others.

I would suggest "recognition" is the issue that Sirianni needs to address with Hurts, especially pre-snap, where processing speed isn't as much of an issue.

I have zero doubt that Minshew could be a bridge QB.  I'd go so far as to say that the trade for him with an extra year on his rookie deal helps as well, because it would allow them to draft a QB and let Minshew start until the rookie is ready to step in.

Or build up the team with the possible 3 first round picks, and then draft a QB in 2023 once the team is younger at other positions.

Even at 27 with how the game is played today there’s a chance( if he isn’t thrown in prison) he could play to 40. I expect rodgers to play til hes 42 and i could see Wilson following in those footsteps

I'd call those outliers and not the norm

@austinfan

Curious, because Ive seen you seem to be against Watson based on his PPG and whatever else.

Who do you consider better than him?

Rather, who are your top ten at the position?

You know damn well Lurie isn’t going another offseason and year without having his guy at QB (assuming that hurts continues on this path)

That is the way I would like to do it. Build up the lines and the premium positions and then go get a QB. Asking any rookie to carry a team not set at any position is just a sheety way to bring a QB along. *Cough Giants cough*

There’s QBs playing into their late 30s over the past five years. Brees, rivers, Big Ben, Matt Ryan, brady, rodgers (More i could find). The better QBs (that can throw it… not cam Newton)in the league are playing longer. The game has changed that is allowing for it.

Even if he doesn’t get to 40. Let’s say it’s 36 when he retires. That’s a decade. It’s still a long time. in this hypothetical perspective if he played 10 seasons for the eagles, the only other QBs with a longer tenure in the past 30 years for the eagles would be mcnabb at 11 years.

Rivers and Ryan haven't won anything and Brees kept coming up short

Ben has been on a decline for years

It's not worth the picks IMO

You count reaching for Hurts starting the avalanche of crap we are in now a....a....a success?  😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

Reagor? Dickerson is TBD as he may be forever gimpy after playing with that injury history.

Dillard?  Throwing Barnett in there too?

JJAW?!?! 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣😂

I know you're Howie's burned account but good grief bro.

What @austinfan fails to realize, in a bubble, sure, Smith is a good pick.  But, it is the compounding mistakes that led to the Smith pick being necessary.

Add onto all these picks, bad Jeffrey extension, bad Desean Jackson trade, bad Golden Tate trade, Mike Wallace, Dorial Green Beckham

Then the other picks, Mack Hollins, Shelton Gibson, Nelson Agholor.

Mistake after mistake forced continuing to use resources to try and fix the continual mistakes.

Complete lack of drafting success?

2019:  JJAW (57)

2020:  Reagor (21), Hightower (168), Watkins (200)

2021:  Smith (10)
