Rivers and Ryan haven't won anything and Brees kept coming up short

Ben has been on a decline for years

It's not worth the picks IMO

Ryan was a league mvp and they blew a 28-3 super bowl lead and rivers is a hall of famer it’s not worth it cause they didn’t win a SB? brees had the Saints as a top team for years. You act like they were the main reason those teams didn’t win a Super Bowl. Meanwhile they were the biggest reasons why those teams had the success they did

im sorry I’d take any of those QBs at 27 in their primes for 10 years.

Been thinking about Howie's MO recently and believe that two events in the past have created principles that are leading him toward several of the curious transactions over the past few seasons.  These aren't necessarily bad principles, but I feel that he is overcorrecting here.

1) Watching Chip basically give away DeSean and LeSean.  He even stated when he returned to his role in 2016 that it's hard to acquire top-level talent in reference to those moves.  As a result, he is now extending the contracts of basically all of the "talented" players on the team.  There wasn't a need to extend every vet on the SB team.  I know there was the "window of opportunity" argument.  But that's all it is, an argument.  It is inconsistent with the "sustainability" that the owner has been preaching for a few decades.

2) Watching Foles win the Super Bowl.  I agree with Howie's approach to getting a premier QB.  Can't win without one.  But now it seems like the backup QB is the second most important player on the team.  Drafting Hurts was a mistake.  You needn't address backup QB this way.  As a result, you lost the guy you were trying to build the franchise around.  Then you throw $5M at Flacco?  Why?  To ensure that we can continue our playoff run this season?  Backup QB is important, but not to the extent that Howie is addressing it.

Time's yours.

In fairness i don’t think this is just based off that super bowl. The eagles have always found and brought in backup QBs they saw had value. Go back to when they brought Jeff Garcia in. Then they had kolb and mcnabb and brought in Vick. Even with foles they brought in mark Sanchez to try and resurrect his career and be the backup behind foles. Then even after they signed Bradford and were planning on moving up and drafting wentz they signed chase Daniel to big money. Then they brought in foles. Then brought in josh mccown. Then drafted hurts.

They’ve always valued having a good backup QB but the issue became they Went overboard and overvalued it to the point where they spent a second rounder on a guy they hoped would just be a backup for 3 years and then try to get value for him. You shouldn’t be drafting guys who best case scenario is solely just being a backup to your recently paid franchise QB in the second round.

"He didn't have a bad game" on Hurts

Oh, Okay. | Reaction GIFs

Eskin with an impressive question, is Hurts going one read and then bailing the pocket to early.

C'mon.

The actual quote was "He didn't have a bad game, he didn't have a good game."

He wouldn't be lying.

Well that makes more sense

Either way just say he has to be better and so do i. Would’ve made for a better answer.

My thoughts on both Hurts and Sirianni:

Yea, because he has to go to the extreme.

Get out of here. One of his "core values" is accountability. Hold him accountable.

They are really pushing him on Barnett, I wonder if they will bring up "It's always him"

That doesn't make the answer any better.

I’m still waiting for someone to make that gif

I guess Sirianni takes those padded stats in to the equation.

They did. He was asked at the PC after the game.

Stop, just stop.

He should have said, "there's some plays on the field that I think he knows he should have made and we are all working to correct that".

That simple.

He kinda said that as well during a different answer.

Basically said all the coaches and players needed to do better.

Seriously. "What do you want him to do, publicly execute him???" Yea, because its so hard to give an answer without sugar coating it.

"Nick, what do you think the biggest issue right now is? Is it the play calling? The defense? Howie? Lurie? Hurts?"

"Yes."

I guess Hurts is going to miss his rent payment this week.

Just now, 4for4EaglesNest said:

Fine.  But you don't say "he didn't have a good game, he didn't have a bad game" and then roll into a discussion about meeting standards.  The best answer is the non-answer.

You're not wrong. The PC is just a thing for the media to report.

He said he was happy Hurts was holding himself accountable.

It’s a PC, he doesn’t need to trash his players for fan service.
