Wade got crapped on but we developed and drafted way better with him then any time since he’s been gone. Heck same thing happened to him in Houston.

Yep, was thinking that after I posted about Houston.

Don’t shoot the messenger but was listening to mclane’s interview on 975 (i get its mclane) stated it wasn’t just the front office that wasn’t sold on hurts (hence strong interest in zack Wilson and watson) but the coaching staff wasn’t either and they kind of wanted their own guy.

Makes sense with the timeline and the other story that Sirianni signed on expecting Wentz. Also curious about the delay between hiring Sirianni and then eventually Brian Johnson. Seems like he might have been a possible last minute hire to get the most out of Hurts they can.

I’ve never had a problem with broccoli but just always did the boring steam or sauté. Until I randomly tried making roasted broccoli and it’s an absolute game changer.

Roasted broccoli in the oven with olive oil, sea salt, and cracked black pepper.

Out of the oven, hit it with sauteed pressed garlic, sweet chili oil, and real grated parmesan cheese.

It's a winner.

Bullpen has been historically bad. Offense went months before turning it on then disappeared when it mattered most. Pitching staff was down most of the year outside of Wheeler and Squarez who didn’t join till late.

Biggest problem is our Farm has nothing.

You need to clarify which of the past 10 years you are talking about.

Remember when Dominic Brown was the crown jewel of the farm? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Well duh. We all kind of knew that Chris. The real issue is does Watson want Philly.

Probably not, but he's a vastly better option than Hurts. Let's hope the legal stuff gets cleared up, it's not too expensive and he is interested in coming here.

Won't happen, but we'll see.

Where on earth have I been? When did DeSean sign with the Rams?

Makes total sense.  Imagine you're a first time offensive minded, pass first head coach coming to a team who has an MVP-caliber (2 years removed) quarterback in Carson Wentz.  If you can get Wentz back on track and have him find that MVP form, you'll be loved in Philly and on the way to a successful HC career.

When you get here, they get rid of that quarterback and give you a guy who's started 4 games in the NFL and is not a good passer.  Everything you envisioned for the team you take over is now turned upside down. Hurts limits the kind of offense you want to run.

99% of new head coaches want "their" guy.  Hurts is Howie's guy.

and at what cost to the Eagles?  If I'm the Eagles and Watson will accept a trade here, I'm doing everything I can to save the draft picks.  I'd include any combination of Hargrave, Cox, Goedert, Slay and Sanders on top of maybe one 1st round pick and some mid-round swaps.

In the offseason....and somehow he is still healthy after Week 3.

Pretty sure the real issue is will he be suspended at any point in the future as a result of his legal predicament.

Great summary.  I can't imagine finding out afterwards that my wagon is hitched to the Hurts horse.

I want Howie to trade for Watson, only to see the moment when the FO realise they've check mated themselves on the cap and roster depth by doing it.  If Watson can't polish a turd in Texas with a team a year or two back that had more depth, he sure ain't doing it in Philadelphia with this slop.  Esp with his legal situation still pending.

Can you imagine the research investment that is going into this decision?

All true, except that 2017 wasn't just two years ago.

With an actual QB, the Eagles can at least challenge for the division.  No need to make the team worse in other aspects yet.

If Watson is on the field, we'd be a good team.

I just have no desire to root for Watson.

Hurts has become Howie’s guy because of the chain of events leading to Wentz’s departure.  Hurts was a Weidl/Doug pick, and Howie was dumb enough to pull the trigger.

Howie is on the hook for the 2nd round investment of the pick, which is his accountability.  A 2nd round QB doesn’t typically get more than one season worth of rope, though, so Howie could wriggle out of that after this season — and the longer Hurts plays badly, the less egregious moving on from the pick looks, so don’t expect Hurts to get benched in the short term.

At least they didn’t spend a top 5 pick on Hurts like MIA did with Tua
