That's why you have to be patient, if Hurts looks this bad in game 12, well, that's a different story. What you want to see is the game to slow down for him

Part of his problem (and Lawrence et al) is in college, the QB wins games, in the NFL, the HC wins games - by that I mean a good NFL QB isn't the offense but runs the offense. The best example I've seen is Vince Young, who was "superman" in college but couldn't run a pro offense.

That's what Hurts has to learn to do or he's history.

True enough, but keep in mind some of us might be counting his game in Dallas as Game 7 or 8 already.  He did see quite a bit of game action starting with the Green Bay game last season when (the last guy) was benched.

The guys you start with aren't necessarily the guys you end the season with - lots of young players sit for half a season, and Gannon tries to rotate everyone, so players who are buried on the depth chart now may get more and more reps - and players on the PS who look good in practice will get a shot to show its real.

Once you're realistically out of playoff contention it's easier to play young players without losing the clubhouse, the veterans understand, it was up to them to win games to make the GM think of this as a playoff team, so they know that if the team is 2-7 it's inevitable is that they'll lose PT to younger players.

I named players and asked who.  You give me a general response but don’t identify those young players.  So, again I ask who?  Do they sit Nelson and have McPearson play?  Williams has been playing.  When Wallace gets healthy do they sit McLeod? Harris sits so Chachere can play or do they elevate Riley?  When Taylor gets healthy do they sit Singleton?  When Scott gets healthy do they bench Maddox?  Marlon T causes them to sit Ridgeway?  Do they elevate Wilson?  Jackson causes them to sit Kerrigan?  Do they elevate Stevens to the active roster and sit Wilson?  Edwards sits and Bradley plays?  Is this what you are foreseeing?

If I’m going to watch bad LB play, let it be Taylor.

I don’t think much of Edwards since he brings little to the table in coverage, but I’m at the point where I’d rather watch him get beat in coverage than Wilson getting pancaked or rode 15 yards out of the play.

Yeah, those "good" 1 year free agents Howie signed kinda suck.

Do you want to see more Bradley?  Remember, the premise of the argument presented by AFan is once the Eagles are out of playoff contention that the Eagles will use the remaining games to evaluate the young players. Taylor fits that argument but the suggestion in TC prior to the injury was that Taylor was going to see playing time.

Fair.

Jalen Hurts sucks, though.

I’d also add he’s had an entire offseason unlike rookies to work on the things he needed too. I understand new offense and all but he’s not a rookie even if he sat for 11.5 games last year. He had the benefit of what the nfl is going into his second year and an entire offseason to prepare unlike a rookie who usually don’t have an entire year of being in an nfl organization and offseason when entering the league is usually shorter due to when they are drafted and sometimes school restrictions.

Watching and learning for 11.5 games (some action), 4.5 games his rookie year, an entire nfl offseason and 3 regular season games is not the same as a rookie entering the league

Why should he be paid money he forfeited by not reporting?

Frankly, I don't care about anything in trade for him, I just want him gone.  The team likely wins against the Hawks with Maxey on the court.   Granted, they won't be as good without him in the regular season, but they will be better without him in the playoffs.  Because they won't be forced to play 4 on 5 offensively, or have possessions go by with him just being pathetic at the foul line.   Good riddance.

I remember during the broadcast Griese saying it's a rule of thumb QBs don't pull the ball down at all in their own end zone, because of the risk of a holding penalty giving up 2 points.  Lots of stuff wrong there.

Not holding the ball in the end-zone is 100% fair. They're showing Cover 2 pre-snap and post-snap and the safety bites on the post to the side that Hurts is looking at. He didn't even have to hold the ball. Just throw it.

Does that fall to Brandon Brown, who has directed pro scouting the last three seasons and Max Gruder, his assistant for basically the same period?

In college scouting and picks, what blame goes to Patch and Wolking, who has been by his side for a decade here?  What to Cunningham? All of them were involved in college scouting leadership roles during this particularly bad drafting period for Howie.

And what blame goes to Weidl and his son?  And what about Caldwell and Donahue as advisors?

Howie hired all of them.

Nah.  It goes to Howie, because he hired all these people.   Buck stops (or should) with Howie.   Chop off the head of the snake, replace the rest with the new guy's guys.

I've never seen LB play as bad as it was agai st Dallas on Monday, Wilson looked like he was trying out for the LB on blindsided that gets blocked into the parking lot, and it wasn't just one or two plays it was every running play, he was stuck on a block 10 yards down field, I mean come on, if I'm going to watch a LB get blown up every play at least give me o e like Taylor with some up side.

Not to mention Wilson's strong suit was supposed to be in coverage and he's been useless there as well 👎

So, what you are saying is it's the PR staff's fault.

It should have been Priority 1 to get him traded immediately after the season ended; his meaningful time in a Sixers uniform was done.  I'm not sure who would take him on with his contract as I don't know the NBA financial landscape, but a bag of donuts would have been adequate return.  Addition by subtraction.

Well given that scouts usually stay through the draft, those same guys will be evaluating those four top 50 draft picks next year.

So, yes, not just Howie but his whole crew.

Not if we fired them now... or better yet, last offseason.

Yes, they need to do what they should have done last offseason... and fired...

Honestly they wanted to remove themselves from the super bowl and go in an entirely new direction they should’ve just removed everyone and completely started over. Not saying players on the team (however some should’ve been) but i was ok moving on from doug and even Carson when it became obvious he wasn’t coming back. But I’m sorry I’m not for keeping the guy here making poor draft decision after poor draft decision, bad restructures and bad contracts as well. And not learning the lesson from agholor’s 5th year option disaster with Barnett.

Get rid of all three and clean house in the FO start over fresh. Now you have the same guy in place making decisions that got them into a complete rebuild, dumpster fire and dysfunction. he might be able to rebuild it (im thinking it fails still) and there’s up and down cycles for organizations. However there’s no reason besides poor drafting and developing, bad contracts and horrendous restructures for the eagles to have a lack of youthful talent to the point it might take them 4-5 years of a rebuild and that’s if they actually begin drafting better. The eagles finished bottom 5 in future rosters by  espn. Even with those picks this year they still have to pan out for them to have the start of a new young core

Is rent still due? Asking for a friend who has been sleeping on my sofa the last few weeks.
