Well given that scouts usually stay through the draft, those same guys will be evaluating those four top 50 draft picks next year.

Does it matter who and what they evaluate.  It is pretty much common knowledge that Howie and Jeff go rogue and draft whoever the heck they want.

Who are the apologists you’re referring to?

afan and bigefly for starters.

KC, whose defense isn’t that good, is banged up a bit at DE and especially at CB.

And they will still hold us to less than 20

Honestly they wanted to remove themselves from the super bowl and go in an entirely new direction they should’ve just removed everyone and completely started over. Not saying players on the team (however some should’ve been) but i was ok moving on from doug and even Carson when it became obvious he wasn’t coming back. But I’m sorry I’m not for keeping the guy here making poor draft decision after poor draft decision, bad restructures and bad contracts as well. And not learning the lesson from agholor’s 5th year option disaster with Barnett.

Get rid of all three and clean house in the FO start over fresh. Now you have the same guy in place making decisions that got them into a complete rebuild, dumpster fire and dysfunction. he might be able to rebuild it (im thinking it fails still) and there’s up and down cycles for organizations. However there’s no reason besides poor drafting and developing, bad contracts and horrendous restructures for the eagles to have a lack of youthful talent to the point it might take them 4-5 years of a rebuild and that’s if they actually begin drafting better. The eagles finished bottom 5 in future rosters by  espn. Even with those picks this year they still have to pan out for them to have the start of a new young core

Uh... yeah.  Been saying it since about October of last year.   If you are going to make a change, change it all.   Stoutland comes back, the rest... bye bye.

Someone is clearly defensive.  Wasn’t talking about you specifically, but now that you mention it. Haven’t you blindly supported or tried to rationalize pretty much every Howie draft day F up in here, the past few seasons?   Or the NS hiring?  Or am I "mistaken” again.

Afan will never see the light.

I’m not defensive. Just wanted you to clarify your passive aggressive post.

And rationalize? If that’s what you want to call it. I prefer to call it a discussion with nuance.

Not if we fired them now... or better yet, last offseason.

Yes, they need to do what they should have done last offseason... and fired...

Well, you and I have been on board about the accountant leaving for quite a while but we have to dig deeper than just him.  I have been questioning Patch for a while now and I think Wolking needs to go too.  Sure seems like Weidl may be a problem too.  Since Brown took his role at pro scouting lead, the signings have gone down again.  My suspicion is that the reason we see better results later in the draft is more say from the scouts. Question is which ones and what impact Some of those leaders have but I would leave that for the new GM to sort out.

That responsibility belongs to the new GM.  But frankly, the scouts supposedly were all over Justin Jefferson, but Howie over ruled.  They supposedly didn't have Hurts that high, but Howie.  JJAW was a pick from someone else.  And I'd bet that Dillard was a last minute change engineered by.... Howie.   So, I will let the new GM decide who really stays and goes, but they always have their own guys.

Of course there are a lot of people with a hand in this mess. We’ll never know who’s entirely at fault since everyone has an input. The bottom line is the guy making the final decision has made the wrong choice far too often.

You should try it.

Are you now willing to admit that Lurie is the guy that is making the wrong decisions?  It all falls on him.  Are you finally there yet?

What is the EIC?

Sooner than later, I hope.  We do have to figure out what the team has and build where they can from that.  I just hope the new GM finally drafts the secondary and really the entire back seven.

How much say or sway do those guys actually have though???

I mean reportedly JJAW was Luries pick, what's the point of having scouts and a scouting department if the owner is making picks???

Seems to me they're all yes men to Howie and Howie of course is Luries Lap dog.

Howie needs to go and I'm not so sure Lurie actually wants to bring in a GM that may not want be a fan of the owner making picks.

They have no real say.  It is up to Howie who is drafted, signed, etc.   They could leave and go elsewhere, but have no real say.

Sure the top guy but is he so bad that he is ignoring all input from the leadership in the scouting ranks?  I think it goes deeper.  After all, a lot of scouting input is from the syndicates that most teams utilize not just in house.  So the new GM has to look at the compilers critically too.

Yes, he absolutely can be.

That goes without saying. It goes hand in hand with a new GM. They weed out the dead weight and bring in their own guys.

While I am not going to defend organizational dysfunction, this perspective that the team is community property baffles me. Lurie owns the team. As such, he gets to mismanage it as much as he wants. If fans don't like it, they can vote with their feet and potentially make him lose money. Maybe there should be an effort to do change the ownership structure to that of the Packers and make the Eagles a community owned resource. Short of this, Lurie gets to play in Lurie's sandbox.
