Herbert is a superstar phenom like Kyler Murray, it’s going to be very difficult to find that. Senior bowl have a clue on Herbert but still you have to kinda luck into it.

One, even two... I wouldn't worry about it either.  It seems like it happens every week, and almost always costs us a TD.

What part of the scheme do you like? The 30 WR screens per game that go for one yard per attempt?

Or the offensive penalties they get for the same stuff over and over every week that never get corrected?

Did they get 1 yard???

@Iggles_Phan i thought the defense and special teams did a great job in this game. Defense was getting after darnold which the panthers line is bad. And they finally were making some picks and turnovers. Special teams had the block but also the huge field goal right before the end of the first half. Honestly hats off to elliott he’s been much better this year.

that said i thought the offense was frankly bad outside of 3 drives. The drive right before halftime to get a field goal. The drive in the 3rd quarter to bring it back to 15-13 and when they punched it in after the blocked punt. Otherwise it was a really hard watch. Similar to how the offense looked for long portions of the niners and Dallas games. Which when we play teams like atlanta and KC who’s defenses stink we are fine. But we have to see improvements in games not just against bad defenses like the giants, Washington and jets later in the year. we were fortunate that was a safety not a touchdowns. But the ball bounced our way.

i have to go back and re-watch the game pass but seemed like the oline was ok. Not great but solid enough. Penalties are still an issue hurting the eagles. We missed some throws and the running game still isn’t clicking. But defensively and ST were good.

I can get behind that.

Hurts not having any quit in his isn't something to really hang our hat on.

I'm not worried about who we are beating or losing to.

Let me just address these two statements briefly...

The 1st, you've taken completely out of context, to launch into an entirely unrelated direction, by not including that I said "I'LL TAKE THAT FOR NOW"

The 2nd, I was extrapolating and talking about a large chunk of the fan base... as I eluded to several times in my post...

But anyway, I don't think you'll have to worry about my take for very much longer, as the tone of discussion in here is quite toxic and pointless...  there's very little sensible discussion...  it's just constant ranting and blood-letting...  this is nothing like even the later generations of the Blog, and miles and miles and miles from the original Blog...  I gave it a try, but this isn't for me any more...

Lol, I'm 44, probably not exactly far removed from whatever your generation is. I can enjoy both a defensive battle, and a high scoring game. It's possible to like more than one thing.

Hey we finally had a game without illegal touching called. Progress.

lol.  We didn't run that 9 route (or at least, Hurts didn't throw it).

I will say this, on that free play, it looked like Reagor (or was it Watkins) worked hard to stay in bounds.   #Progress

Today was the first time I saw Anthony Harris flash on a run play.  He read and diagnosed perfectly and flew up to make the play near the LOS.

Yup. Me too, even Wilson made a tackle that wasn't 10 yards down field.

Whatever Sirrianni said to Gannon and whatever Gannon said to the D players worked, they played well, maybe Gannon needs to return the favor and tell the offensive coaches to get in shape so his D doesn't have to carry the team

It's very fixable.

The point is that with a QB like Herbert you are a contender, with Hurts not so much. The comparison elucidates where we need to go and where we are.

One is a 6th overall pick, the other is a 2nd round pick. One has one of, if not the most, talented rosters with elite players & a strong supporting cast of weapons; the other has a roster full of past their prime players and young unproven guys, With a very young group of skill players.

there are so many things beyond just the two of them

You can Thank Sam Darnold for sure. Game ball goes to Sam Darnold who threw the ball exactly where the strength is with Gannon's defense. He is really a bad QB. Anyone who studies film sees Gannon runs a cover 2 sink zone style base defense 85+ % of the game. Sam threw exactly where the outside CBs are sitting. Made zero sense he released the ball to those areas. Just proves how dumb Sam is at QB. He gave the Eagles the win on a silver platter. Now I will give the Dline a big thumbs up for finally showing up this season as a group. That was the biggest eye opener on the defensive side of the ball.

That game wasn't an enjoyable one to watch.

It was the abridged 2019 season.  Crap for the first three quarters, then the good guys barely come through.

I know it is... the fact that it hasn't been fixed yet is what is so frustrating.

With the defense giving you three picks and the ST blocking a punt, you should win by more than three. Offense needs to step it up. Defense bailed team out today.

I suppose it was...

I don't think most people know bad play calling when they see it... just bad results. They're not the same thing.

Well when you call just 3 runs against Dallas and 37 passes to 13 runs today with a QB he should know is lacking to say the least that’s on Sirianni and his play calling.

I don't care in what round they were picked. Hurts doesn't measure up to Herbert's standard of play. If we swapped Hurts and Herbert, then the Chargers wound not be as successful and the Eagles would be more successful.

We should be running the ball more... you can't have all your run calls be RPOs. I'm sure the running game wouldn't be as effective with our banged up OL, but it's not an excuse.

Pretty poisonous tone overall after a road win over a 3-1 team who was favored to win by Las Vegas oddsmakers

4 days from now, after a double-digit loss at home to the defending Super Bowl champion?  Most of it has already been written, but it won’t stop folks from jumping off ledges

I'd like to see it with the young guys and let them get into a rhythm.  Running is really a rhythm thing and you only get better at it, by doing it.

I was trying not to be too cynical and give them the benefit of the doubt.

I know it might be silly to criticize the DL after today's performance but I hope Rocker is working with these guys on their moves as much as possible.  Quick, guess what the DE are going to do to avoid engaging the tackle?  Did you say spin move?

They had 3 sacks today.  That should be the norm for this DL.  It's something to build on but I want a defense when we say they only got 3 sacks?

Exactly. That’s not Hurts fault. We know he’s a one read and improvise QB. He needs a power running game with 20-25 pass tops.

I think with the system Hurts can be successful. Like a Ravens type offense.

Actually, the reason for the rule changes and the game going "soft” is the NFL wanting to avoid CTE lawsuits from the players in your generation who currently have mush for brains, are committing suicide, and can’t remember what they had for breakfast or get out of bed in the morning.

And the taunting rules that seem "soft” were spearheaded by John Mara with the Giants because he was tired of getting his feelings hurt being the owner of an awful team. And the last time I checked, he’s from your generation, not the new one. Talk about being a softy…
