Is TheDraftNetwork site dead? They still have no prospect info up for 2022 prospects. They still have 2020 and 2021 on the site.

This was posted today.  Doesn't seem dead.   Seems they are just behind.

The fact that Ward was in for that crucial 3rd and 4th down plays in 12 personnel just completely flabbergasted me.  Just trying to clog the short stuff.   Watkins threatens deep and might actually open up something underneath and carry an extra defender away from the LOS.

That was giving me PTSD from last season when we so frequently trotted out the slowest playmakers who created the least amount of separation with zero ability to stretch the field.  I need some Pepto Bismol just thinking about how congested that offense was.

Watkins got more snaps than Reagor did.  It's happening.  Give it time.

Reagor competing with Ertz for time on the field as Watkins is pretty much playing outside.

When Smith is your third fastest WR, speed is no longer an issue. Get Jackson healthy at TE (4.59 40) and we can run a track meet.

Too bad JJAW can't play, Eagles could use a big possession WR to complement these guys.

I thought he was going to be an H-back extraordinaire?

Since we're talking about the Eagles' athletic developmental players, anyone watching Milton Williams? How does he look?

Weird. I was told he was a bust based on his one bad game at RT.

He's been solid/good at LT overall.

We lead the league with 5 WR penalties.

Let's get an early season EMB ranking: Hurts, Sirianni, Gannon

Sirianni
Gannon
Hurts

Don’t forget Hurts and his photo op practices

As compared to each other?  Or the entire league

To each-other.  As in how much you'd like them to keep their job relatively.

Id rather send Ertz, Goedert is younger and has been playing better than Ertz

I've made my anti-Goedert argument plenty of times on here, not because I don't like him but because this team can't afford the luxury of a top paid tight end.  Get value for him in the form of draft picks while you can.

Tight end is the next position that is going to flood the NFL with ridiculous athletes in the draft.  Georgia alone has 4 NFL quality tight ends on their roster.  It makes no sense at all to sign Goedert to $12-15 million/year when he's averaging 3 catches per game.

That's true and yet, outside of those top offenses, we've been really good at keeping points off the scoreboard.   It isn't pretty or exciting but it has been working.  Holding teams under 17 was the mark for JJ, and that was a long time ago before the rules got even more points happy.   He's done that 3 times in 5 games with garbage.  That's encouraging to me.  I also expect that we will be very disappointed Thursday night with the defensive effort, for this exact reason.  It might be like a 7 on 7 for Brady against the scout team.   But, that's fine.  There are lots of tests to come against mediocrity that will be more illuminating about progress.  And I want to see much more of the young guys at LB.  Wilson shouldn't be on the field anymore.  Singleton either.  Taylor, Bradley, Johnson... let them figure it out... or not.  Whichever.

I was going to say, in reference to your previous post breaking down the D, where you mentioned Gannon might add more wrinkles into the scheme as the season progresses, that it would also depend upon the development of certain players with the LBs being most notable.  Agree that at this point they should just move on from Wilson and Singleton and let the young(er) guys play and see what they actually have in them and how/if they progress this season.  Taylor is very quick and likes to tackle, but he needs to learn the position more and begin to anticipate than mostly/solely relying on his athleticism.  On the other side of the coin you have Bradley and Edwards who lack the athleticism, but possess the awareness of where they need to be to make a play.  They pretty much are what they are, but they are willing and more reliable than Wilson and can do better than basically being a clean up stat padder like Singleton.  Johnson seems to have more upside than either Bradley/Edwards, but his projection out of college was for a LB in a 3-4 scheme.  He had over 20 sacks in 3 seasons at Tulane, but also was supposed to be good at processing the run and being able to drop back in zone coverage.  I'd like to see what him and Taylor can do since they are the unknowns and the rest of the lot we know what they are for the most part.  Play the ones whose upside you don't know what it is or how good it can be and find out.  Only way they can get better and learn.

The interesting thing with Johnson is that Gannon seems to want to be able to flip between 4-3 and 3-4.   So, having a guy who might be able to play SAM, and then flip to a rush DE would be a nice wrinkle for the future.

NS is as bad at his job or worse than Hurts is at his.

It's a weird dynamic. Hurts hurts Sirianni at the same time Sirianni is hurting Hurts. I don't care what he says during his PC's but from the game it looks like Sirianni doesn't want a QB like Hurts. The combo feels like a square peg in a round hole.

Have to say this line of reasoning does make some sense.  Goedert has never 'turned the corner' and exploded like some of us thought he might one day.  We are cap strapped for the near future and if he wants (near) Kittle money we have other areas that are in more dire need of upgrades, like most of the D positions.  And he would fetch a better haul in a trade than Ertz.  A real shame Jackson got hurt as he was looking pretty good in TC/PS.  So we'd have to roll with Ertz and Stoll for the rest of this season (Dick Rod is still a FA, too) and hope Jackson heals up fine and can be at least serviceable next season (while growing into the role) and maybe add another to the stable with a later round pick in the next draft.  And honestly, we're not using the TEs much since we're not throwing to the middle of the field for now, so in this case the reward looks to outweigh the risk.

Theyd literally laugh out loud at you.

Let me do the talking....

Take him for a 6th and get him off my roster.

You know even less about negotiating than you do about football evaluation.  That is an incredibly inept approach to negotiations. Eagles are no longer in a cap relief situation so sell cheap for cap relief is off the table.  You might read up on "anchoring” in negotiations.  So my offer was anchored with the second round valuation that was widely rumored as the Eagles ask.  (So, by the way was @Iggles_Phan’s suggestion of a 2023 first which is a great gambit as a first two years removed would have second round value). I played to their ego while focusing on a need multiplied by their success possibly being driven far this year thus amplifying the need.  Basically, you will be picking 32nd if you fix your hole with Ertz so your first is practically a second but to compensate for those few extra slots, we will throw in a fifth, and offered the cowpads, which is currently the lower of the two the Eagles own.

If Howie didn’t cut off discussion if they counter with a 6, then he is not even the horse trader he is rumored to be.  We got a 6 for Pryor and a seventh.   A sixth would be the type of lowball offer that cuts off negotiations before they even start.  The fifth is enough to be enticing to the other team.  If I was the Cardinals, I’d counter with a fourth for Ertz and the higher fifth hoping if I could land that package with a third on my next bid.  I would point to age and last year’s production, which they know the Eagles will counter with recovery from injury and this year’s performance, hindered only by our wealth with Goedert.  That suggests the possibility of Goedert as an alternative in the discussion.
