I'm not sure what to make of those comments

Why?  Because they're logical and make complete sense to anyone that follows the team?

Which would a brilliantly bad Idea.  I would trade him right now.  But then again, I would have traded Ertz 2 years ago.  And now we just get to see him drop passes and emo step on the field on Sunday's with his yellow hair.

I agree with the Ertz part. Goedert should be the guy rn especially if Howie is still interested in extending him. Not sure if they're trying to up Ertz trade value by splitting reps. Going into the season they said Ertz would backup Goedert. I don't see that

Why would any FA want to come to this dumpster fire right now?  He has a first row seat to it.  I wouldn't be stunned if he wanted out.

I would say money but Eagles don't have much of it paying all the has-beens currently. If the Eagles can find a qb, there's a lot to like on offense

If they are not sold on Hurts (which I am pretty sure they aren't).  Then there is no reason to put big cap money into Tight End.  But again applying logic to what Jeffpetto Lowie does is a useless practice.

That's part of the reason why I expect Goedert back

You're making it sound as "what would you do" or "what would you prefer".  If we are going to make predictions on what they would do, then I can get pretty creative if you need me to.

I'm sure everyone can

Ertz should have been traded a couple years ago.

Goedert is a good starting TE, nothing more, nothing less.  He's not going to be a real weapon in the receiving game, but he'll get his share and he does block well.  He's on pace for 691 yards this year (over 16 games, for an easier reference).  Those numbers from a good blocking TE are nice...but I don't see the value in a mega contract.

Goedert likely gets franchised for next season IMO -- unless there's a big trade offer, which I don't see happening.

He'll be 27 by the time next season rolls around.

He'll want to be paid.

You're applying "Sense" to this front office and direction of this team?

Which means they'll probably dumb a brinx truck on him.  Because it would be a dumb idea.

He isn't a running back.  Tight Ends have long shelf lives.  So 27 years old certainly isn't old. He wants to be paid and he probably should be paid. Eagles will franchise tag if need be but they will re-sign him. TE is one of the most valuable positions in the league today and you don't let young blue chip talent that you drafted especially at a premiere position go.

Here's a question...which we can check in on in several months too...have Mailata and Sweat's value gone up, gone down, or stayed the same since their extensions?

Dickerson tweaked his ankle. Should be fine for Thursday.

Zach Ertz, a finesse TE who never had his body abused, was dead in the water here at 30.

Well Sweats contract has been surpassed by a guy with 8 sacks in 4 years. I'll say stayed the same. Mailata has miss some time but I'm sure it'll go up at years end

So far, after his 1st start he could barely walk back to the locker room and in his 4th game he didn't finish.  Again, I'm being bullish on him but for a guy with his injury history, not a good start regarding his health.

Here is where I am so conflicted after a game like yesterday...

I want one of two things: either for the Eagles to be an elite SB contender or for them to have the young, talent pieces in place to project as developing into an elite SB contender.  If we are neither of those things (and we aren't), then I have a hard time getting swept up in individual games and enjoying isolated wins in lost seasons.

In 1999 and 2016, those were flawed teams that were not going to compete, but you could see pieces coalescing into place.  Then, it was easier to get excited about a win in a lost season.  Now, from the owner, to the GM, to the HC, to the franchise QB (if you want to call him that)...I'm not sure we have ANYTHING in place.  Makes it a lot harder to "just enjoy" a win.

I don't think that makes me a bad fan.

Pretty much how I feel. I’m not "pissed” we won, but I can’t get excited by it either.

He didn't really commit to him being back anytime soon with his answer though.

@LeanMeanGM

They don’t run enough , but they don’t have to  with the passing game they have

They don’t ever make a commitment to the run game . They don’t run  and teams can’t run on them , eagles will have to throw early and often .

Yep, same here.

It does mean that Lane didn't beat up Howie Roseman or have a conduct issue though, otherwise he wouldn't qualify for immortalization status on the visor.

"We're hopeful to have Lane back this year"

Damn.

How can you not like Williams taking snaps from Kerrigan and at DT? Taylor taking snaps from Wilson?  The performance of some of the young players on STs? Quez taking snaps from Reagor? Reagor taking snaps from Ward?  Good play from Dillard, Mailata and Driscoll and some playing time for Dickerson and Herbig?  Sweat playing 70% of the snaps and doing well  Gainwell getting playing time and doing well.  While the cupboard is a bit bare (blame Howie), there are some young pieces.

Devonta Smith +2023 1st > Jaylen Waddle

But it may turn out that Toney + 2023 first + change > Devonta Smith

This really should have been a red shirt year for him. I was surprised they brought him back as soon as they did. But he was injury prone in college and now seems to be injury prone now. So I can’t say I’m surprised.

Sounds like he's out for Thursday definitely then.  Was unlikely anyway, but this would pretty much seal it.  In a short week, they don't usually like to make changes.  And if they can't have him in the lineup today... he won't be in the lineup on Thursday.

Which is why using pick 37 on him was not a good use of resources.  If teams continually passed on him and he's there in round 4 kind of like Josh Sweat, then you take a chance on him.  Not pick 37, just 5 away from round 1.
