It inspired me though.  Because I don't fit in.  I stand out.

Yes.  Gruden's personal email to Allen's Redskin address.  Obviously dumb on all accounts.

Thank god the mouth breathers in here didn't get their way when they wanted to hire him so many times.

The reality is they likely aren’t going to be sitting at 3-10. The next five games are houston, at sf, titans, jets and jags. Likely the favorites in 3 of those 5. I think the colts are going to split one of the SF and titans game. i think they are going to be sitting at 5-5 heading into the bills and Bucs games in weeks 11 and 12. Probably be 5-7 but with Houston, bye, NE, Vegas, Arizona and jags left on the schedule. Not sure 9-8 wins their division but i do think 7 seed is there to be had. Browns, ravens, chargers, bills are locks. Titans likely win that division. I’m guessing the chiefs get hot and get a wild card. Comes down to raiders, broncos, colts, Steelers and bengals for the 7th seed. The 4 games against the jags and Texans and one against the jets is going to help get them to 6 wins. I can see them winning 3 of these 4 games against raiders, titans, niners, patriots. Besides the titans i think they are better than all of those teams.

I think they will make the playoffs, but, the people who think they will not preserve a top 10 pick if the opportunity presents itself are kidding themselves.

They should have won last night.  Wentz played well, and put them in a position to win at the end.  As the former Colts QB said, they lost because of "some idiot kicker"

Davis darn near went broke building the stadium in Vegas and then Covid hit.  That contract with Gruden was bad and favored Gruden if he was fired.  This leaked emails situation has the smell of a hit job aiding the Raiders from the NFL NY office. Now the emails were likely obtained in the NFL investigation of Snyder’s operation, which miraculously has not had one word leaked and no report. The whole thing looks bad. Only solution to this constant targeted leaking is to reform the organization from the top down.

Gruden should be fired for being stupid really. In all of my adult life, never would I type out the things he typed out in a professional email server. He was working at ESPN at the time, but emailing with Bruce Allen who WAS employed by the NFL. I believe he sent the emails from his ESPN server.

I work for an insurance company. If my friend worked for another insurance company, and I was emailing him about the president of his company and making racist/homophobic slurs in general, then 5 years later got hired by that same company (obviously without them knowing about those emails), they'd be fully within their rights to fire me if they uncovered them 5 years after that.

I think we've all said similar things to what Gruden wrote, and 10-15-20 years ago it was OK to say those things. But never, never has it been acceptable to put those things in writing using company emails. He's just a complete moron to have done so and should be fired for that alone.

I agree.

from purely a football perspective, the raiders at the end of all this might turn out to be the best thing that it forced gruden into resigning.  Mark Davis was never going to fire or buy out gruden with 6 years and 60 mil left on his contract even if the raiders were perpetually sub .500. They were going to likely ride this out for a few more years and even then i don’t know if Davis would be willing to do the buyout with firing him. The raiders even without this mess felt like they were a stagnant organization that was caught up in what gruden did years ago and got locked into a contract they didn’t want to terminate and just move on. It’s a crappy thing to say but gruden being an idiot might have saved the raiders over the next couple of years of having to pay him and watch mediocre football.

We haven’t seen or heard what Allen responded too, but this investigation was into Snyder as you said. Snyder and Allen have had ongoing litigation with each other for a few years and it’s likely to continue.  Grudens emails were wrong place, wrong time he’s collateral damage.

It’s typical of today.

Without getting too much into CVON territory, it's sort of emblematic of society as a whole. The super rich (owners/billionaires) can pay to literally do whatever the hell they want, while the workers get punished for their misdeeds.

"Smart enough" to bench the QB they just traded for, who was just benched last year, all to save some draft spots?

No, thats idiotic, not smart.  That is analyzing like players and coaches are robots, theyre not.

Swing and a miss by the "smart people"

I tend to agree. I think Mark Davis did not want to pay that entire buyout to fire gruden. He doesn’t have the luxury of paying $60 mil in a buyout after everything. And he knew he was stuck with Gruden for the next couple years and this organization was really going nowhere. These emails came along and was the perfect storm for the raiders to be able to get out of that contract. And it basically forced gruden into resigning. Listening to schefter either the raiders don’t have to pay him cause he resigned or it’s significantly less.

it’s funny because on the blog during the first week of the season we talked about when they would fire gruden. And you didn’t see it coming for a while because he still had six years and $60 million left on that contract. The raiders managed to start 3-0 but the last two weeks crashed back down to earth similar to what they have been

They won't "bench" him, he will go on IR with an "injury".

As I get older I better understand the saying "the world belongs to the younger generation".

Sesame Street employed a gay writer who said he wrote dialogue for Ernie and Bert based on his own point of view that they were a gay couple (even while being employed by a children's program).  Mark Knopfler had to give the go-ahead for an entire verse of Money For Nothing to be censored and removed from radio play.  There are many other examples that the world is trending directions I don't agree with.

I don't pay a whole lot of attention to it -- in part because I have the Brothers In Arms CD and I listen to the entire song (and nobody can tell me I can't), and I'm from a generation where I got to watch and learn from Sesame Street when it was good.  I do fear for the current generation of young people, though.

In hindsight Frank reich should have known his kicker was dealing with an injury and instead of on 3 and 8 from the 15 and running the ball with Taylor should have let wentz sling it for the first down to kill more clock and try to get the touchdown so he didn’t have to rely on his kicker.

obviously this is hindsight because you could also say well they make the field or the game is basically over. However looking back on it with an injured kicker and how well Carson Wentz was playing it wound up backfiring

That throws that team in chaos when they were one of the better teams in the league this year.  Suddenly a very winnable game coming off 10 days rest.

Wow.....just when I thought you couldn't be any dumber.  Unlike Lloyd Christmas, you did not totally redeem yourself either.

Soon we’ll find out why the show was called the "Odd Couple” to fit someone’s narrative.

I do know that the world belongs to the younger generation I for one am looking forward to my next "home". This country is going to be in rough shape sometime soon I would think but that's not to be discussed in here.

As a younger person, I’m definitely nervous about the future of this country. I almost envy the older generation they won’t have to see what happens
