To say Dickerson was a road grading guard isn’t to say that he was deficient as a pass blocker. He was a really good pass protector at multiple positions in college.

His agility hasn’t been a problem in the pass protection, but I’ve noticed him struggling to hit a moving target — Parsons for one, and he missed a DB on a Sanders screen on the second level.

I’m rewatching the game now, focusing on only him. He had some clunky double teams, and Brown beat him cleanly for a pressure. He and Dillard had an issue with passing off a player on the deep completion to Quez. Hopefully a month from now he’s ironed those things out. He hurt his ankle and gave up a pressure on a play.

It certainly wasn’t a perfect game (I’m midway through the fourth now), but I think if people watched him closely they wouldn’t be nearly as down on his performance.

As I watched, the more concerned I was about Driscoll. Vaea is going to absolutely destroy him Thursday. He’s simply not strong enough to handle him. I wonder if we should start Herbig over him.

Life of an O-lineman. They could have 40 great snaps but 3 really bad ones and they overall suck in public opinion.

I was thinking the same thing when people complained about Mailata at RT, except it was more like one really bad one, a weird snap by Kelce and a hold that happened because Hurts rolled out to his side and he naturally held so the DE couldn’t peel off for the QB.

Don't hate Dickerson the player. And I hope he improves as the season wears on.

For me, its the opportunity cost of the players they passed on to draft him.

I'm just really sick of cancel culture and those that support it and take part in it.  It has really ruined our culture in this country.

Also you're thinking very in the context of 2021 with the emails.  This happened 10 years ago.  For context it wasn't until 2013 that Snowden exposed all the widespread spying the NSA does on everyone with all of their communications.  There wasn't some sick thirst in our society yet to try to ruin other people for harmless things they did in their past.

People get fired from jobs every day. It’s not a new phenomenon.  This wasn’t some public outcry for Gruden to quit.  This was Gruden quitting because he knew his owner was going to fire him for what he had said.  If you are a white male in the US you have likely had another white male approach you and say some racist and sexist things to you that they meant.  So let’s not pretend that it would at all be surprising that a white male that is middle aged would make a racist comment.    So while we still know very little about what is in the emails, Gruden knows it’s enough that he will be unable to do his job because the people around him will not trust him.  Gruden is not going to go broke.  He’s likely not even going to be out of football forever.  I don’t think Gruden is a terrible person.  He, like everyone else, is flawed.  If your flaws keep you from doing your job, then your employer doesn’t have to keep you on the job.

Let’s just hope there’s some emails from Howie in there too that will get released soon.

Mailata got owned twice bad. Great story with the potential to be a great player but he’s not a lock hall of famer like so many of you are making him out to be.

I’m torn between him moving to RT. I want Dillard to succeed at LT but also don’t want to hinder Mailata’s development by switching him back and forth.

I thought the hold was avoidable but it wasn’t because he grabbed the DE to prevent him from turning. I think he had his jersey already and when the DE turned his body it was a hold. I don’t think he knew Jalen had escaped the pocket.

Hopefully there are no Jones emails. He needs to stay owner.

The other thing about Dickerson is that he was an elite road grader in college. We barely ask him to do that. So he had no offseason, minimal training camp and now he has to pass block 70 percent of the time as a rookie.

People didn’t like the pick, so they’re going to get their lashes in, context be damned.

I think he was more than a road grader.  He was also looked at as a solid pass blocker.

I’m no OL expert, but it seems fairly common that OL have handfuls of Jersey on any given play. It only matters (or is obvious and callable) when the player tries to change direction.

Agreed. I mentioned that later.

Don’t agree. The DT is well left of the throwing lane. The ball was out on time but missed by a lot.

You are a smart person. Draw a line on the first picture you posted where the ball needs to be to hit Reagor in the hands. It literally goes right into the helmet of the DT. Blaming Hurts for being inaccurate on that pass is just not correct. You yourself said it was two yards behind him. So simple geometry holds that the pass had to be one yard wider when it crossed the line of scrimmage. And what was one yard to the left of Hurts at the LOS when he threw the pass? 320 pounds of unblocked defensive lineman.

Nah, I said Singleton is the best LB the Eagles have, which is sad. I never said he wasn’t a JAG.  That isn’t puffery, it is kind of the opposite. Bemoaning is what comes to mind. But as raw as Taylor is and as JAG and lacking instincts as Singleton is, they aren’t matadors afraid of contact as Wilson. Fed up isn’t the term that comes to mind there, it’s disgusted.

Not you, but others were talking about Singleton as a legit atarting NFL LB.

I didn’t hate them taking interior o-line with that pick.  It was a need and there were talented players that were 2nd round picks.  I am not sure Dickerson was one of those players mostly because of his injuries. I’m concerned that we have treated him like a plug and play prospect when he’s still a rookie likely still recovering from the ACL. He is having to compensate for likely having a weaker knee and that has probably contributed to some of his struggles.  My guess is that if he can make it through this season healthy he will be better next season. Of course, he came out on Sunday due to an injury.

I didnt say taking an iOL was my problem with it, it was taking an injured iOL that I had a problem with.

I finally got caught up on Panthers game. Offense was rough again in that one, I’m really starting to lose faith in Sanders too. Gainwell has outshined him every moment. Defense did a better job, still needs much work though.

Quez Watkins & Devonta Smith are so fun to watch, and our punter better make All Pro

If he's not deficient pass blocking, why would it matter that they ask him to do it 70% of the time?

I am going to wait out this thing with Dickerson, but it wasn't a smart pick at the time.   He's here now and getting reps, but I don't think the knee was ready yet.  A RS year would have likely benefitted his health.  But with injuries on the OL (again) no such luxury exists.  Then again, so many injuries on the OL is exactly why I was against the pick of an injured OL at the top of Round 2.

Mailata didn't look fluid at RT, but I blame his knee injury/brace not flipping sides.  Then again, he's going to struggle at times still with certain types of pass rushers anyway.  Reddick is a smaller, shorter, quicker player, that's going to be tougher for Mailata as a bigger, taller, OT coming off a knee sprain.

So the defensive tackle was half the distance away from Hurts as the target?

Gronk or no Gronk, the Bucs will score. Their WRs are just too much for our DBs.

It's a question of whether we can keep up with them. We couldn't vs. Dallas or KC.

Do you seriously think that's a question?

He wants his day in court because it forces his accusers to be in the public spotlight, something many sexual assault victims aren't willing to do as they feel they could be re-victimized.

The odds that all 20+ plus women whom never have met each other and all have similar stories are lying is highly unlikely.

Watson stands a better chance of playing chicken with them demanding they reveal their identities in a public  court and seeing who blinks first.

Hopefully the women stick to their guns stand up for  themselves and each other and call his bluff then we'll see how willing he is to sit in a court of law and have 20+ plus witnesses testify against him.

When they have the same lawyer the odds get better.

Instead of arguing over emails, let’s talk about drafting an interior OL with massive injury concerns, justified by "elite can’t miss talent,” who is playing extremely poorly right now….

Rookie OL struggle out the gate anyway...and we're asking Dickerson to play multiple spots off a torn ACL. Rookies being lights out (Wirfs, Slater) are exceptions, not the rule.

Driscoll doesn't have enough power to play inside. I prefer him at RT.

Dickerson is a rookie coming off an ACL and has only practiced for like a month. If you're not gonna be patient with that guy, then I guess you're not gonna be patient with anyone.
