I REALLY hope the NFL reviews last nights penalties and tells officials to be a little bit less trigger happy. If that's the direction the NFL is going, and they don't have an issue with it, they are going to lose a lot of fans. I think a lot of fans are already on the fence because of other things the league is doing but the gameplay keeps people around. If trash talking is now a penalty, and it's continually called...bye bye NFL. What's the reaction in here going to be the first time an Eagle is called for taunting? When there's a facemask, PI, hold, offsides we can clearly say OK that flag was warranted. When there's a flag called on someone yapping it up how the hell can any of us say OK that's justified. It's a horrible rule. It was discussed when it was announced but to call a penalty on a guy taunting, yet be perfectly OK with an entire team sprinting 90 yards to pose in the endzone after a turnover makes ZERO sense.

I like the move back to those jerseys. And they go back to those jerseys where they really had more success with dick tomey and Larry smith.
September 10, 20214 yr Big news: I’m in a wedding today and was expecting to drive the six hours home on Sunday, missing most if not all of the Eagles game live. This morning my wife tossed out the idea to leave Saturday night, and I was like, "Oh, yeah, that’s a great idea. Then the kids can sleep in the car and we can sleep in.” Then she said, "you’re just excited to watch football on Sunday, aren’t you?”

The percentage of people going to college has only slightly increased. The real difference is the cost. I do think young people don't tend to think through the consequence of getting a significant student loan. There are plenty that make poor choices in careers and majors. I do think there are plenty of fields such as teaching, finance and engineering that you will not be able to get into without a degree. The real exception is for like a construction trade although there are more degrees designed to help people in that field. I don't think the education system is any worse. I think generally educational theory and curriculum has advanced. I think the blame is more complex. I do agree that a fundamental problem is that Universities have over spent on facilities. I also think the availability of money and the failure for kids to do a real cost benefit analysis is a problem. I mean a lot of kids would avoid problems if they stayed at home and went to community college. Unfortunately, they are lured by the idea of having a college experience. The cost VS value equation. It starts there. If the ROI is not there for a field vs your cost to get that degree, then why bother? Thats the bottom line, it is in large part due to the cost being astronomical, but still, you need to know what your likely future earnings will be and what the cost of getting that degree will be, when the ROI is not there, like it isn't for so many today, then WTH are they doing? It starts there.
September 10, 20214 yr Watching Dak, I can see why he was the comparison for Hurts. Mobile QBs with average NFL arms. Dak's arm is no better than Hurts, yet he puts up the numbers - the key was being coached up. Say, who was Dak's QB coach in college? Dallas had a good game plan, don't run at the teeth of the TB defense, get the ball out quickly, lot of short patterns and pick on the weak link in the TB secondary (by the end of the game, it was almost anyone they threw out there, that guy Adams, didn't we cut him in camp?). Dallas has good WRs, but their TEs have their pictures on milk cartons. Wasn't that impressed by the Dallas OL, it'll help to get Martin back, but I think Smith/Collins are a bit overrated at OT. And the other interior OL? Parsons is fast, but I don't think he's a game changing player, he'll help that defense but they need a lot more.

This is quite the overreaction. Taunting penalties aren't going to make a huge dent in the NFL's bottom line, IMO.

Bucs were extremely sloppy last night. 4 turnovers, I think Brady was 23/40 at one point with 2 picks. Looked like SB hangover to me. A better team would have beaten them. They’re basically running unopposed in that division this season, though, and won’t have any trouble winning it. I hope DAL is saying "We were right there with the SB champions” — truth is, the football they’re playing doesn’t win. Dak led the NFL in passing yards in 2019 and they went 8-8. Dak was throwing for 450 yards per game to start last season and they’d have been 0-4 had the Falcons not done that Falcons thing. Last night was just more of the same ‘pretty looking’ bad team.
