Re-watched the condensed version of the game, and something sticks out that I couldn't put my finger on earlier.....I really, really hate how dumb our players are.

From Barnett and his seemingly endless penalties and mistakes (though he played well Sunday), to Hurts throwing it out of bounds on an offside play that was a free toss, even if intercepted, to Sanders running out bounds not once, but TWICE after the 2 minute warning when we had a lead. That doesn't even cover Reagor and his stupidity. Then Ward, who can't run a simple pick play (and you have Ertz doing it in week 1 properly, just do what he did goddammit, look back for the ball and they wont call you on it); and finally Singleton taking a stupid penalty on DJ Moore after Moore gave himself up well behind the LOS. Just stupid, stupid plays. I'm not sure if coaching can fix this stuff, as a lot of it is just basic football 101.

I think the most frustrating one is the Hurts throw away. He knew enough that he had the defender nailed for offside, as he motions for the WRs to head upfield.....why, why, why would you throw that ball out of bounds? It's beyond comprehension to me. As a QB, he's gotta know the rules? And, I've seen the thought that he didn't want to throw it out of bounds, but he was just inaccurate and missed....I mean, that's even worse. I was OK to see how he developed this year, but that singular play swung the pendulum so far for me, I'm past the point of no return for him I think.

Barnett, Sanders, Reagor, Hurts, all appear to be very low level football intelligent, which further cracks Howie's drafting process. Stop drafting idiot players.

Not disagreeing about reagor but what did he do on Sunday that was stupid?

I do t remember him making any egregious mental mistakes like the above mentioned?

One time he brought the ball out and was tackled around the 20.

I agree we are stupid as a team. But is everyone stupid or is it just our players.

Football players aren't the brightest bulbs; they need to be coached hard on the fundamentals, and situational awareness can be the hardest thing to teach.

In the end, it's the coaches' jobs to make stupid players smarter.  Film study after each game should be pounding on the penalties and dumb mistakes and the guys who keep making the mistakes have to be held accountable for it to get fixed.

My quick and only points about Gruden:

1) Gruden - my god you are a stupid idiot - which doesn't surprise me. He deserves what he got.

2) Gruden cant be the only person in all the emails investigated that had typed out improper, or controversial opinions, or shared sexist pictures etc in a private discourse of email.... Cant be the only person. The NFL is /has been a home for prople who committed far worse,  from Murderers to rapists and all kinds of felonies. Lots of the coaches and some of the front office people were one time players in the NFL. Gruden cant be the only one, and unless more are revealed in the future and dealt with, I will firmly believe Gruden was targeted solely for one reason or another. Gruden is guilty of being an idiot, for sure, but he cannot be the only idiot found in the investigation. If he remains the only casualty in this, then he was railroaded.

There are tens of thousands of really bad people who are smart enough not to send their opinions via email.

Speaking of Barnett...

What is it? 11 straight weeks (going back to last year) without a sack?

Another Howie gem.

Defensive Ends are supposed to sack people?

C'mon ... he used two 'reallys'; that didn't sway you?

I like that Hurts got the team into the end zone twice in the 4th quarter to win the game -- that's good stuff for sure.  The 15 completions in the first half for 74 yards?  Not so good from him and Sirianni.  I expected 150-200 passing yards in the second half when it's that obvious the defense is keying on the lateral throws and screens.

Really really good???

I'd say orlavsky is really really high.

4 good plays in a game doesn't make for really really good, or even really good.

Just wait until Hurts throws a Hail Mary out of bounds. You know it’s coming

Always consider the source.  I don't remember any games where Orlovsky made 4 good plays, so .....

He essentially did that vs. Carolina, so....

I beg to differ.

Let's say I'm a racist, homophobic, sexist idiot. I can be all that every day. But I'm still going to be smart enough not to email or even post stuff on social media that identifies me as such. I work with contractors all day long a portion of them are very racist but they are smart enough not to make record of such racism. That is other worldly dumb!!!!!

Hell even the kkk wore hoods.

Clever.  I think the penalty toss out of bounds is something that will get pointed out and is unlikely to occur again.  This maybe was the first time the situation arose for him, and although he knew what to do, the excitement of the moment got to him.  IMO, Hurts has the make up not to let that happen again.

Yeah I wouldn't really call that lacking football intelligence I'd just say it was unfortunate.

Though he's been disappointing this year as a receiver he's made so e plays in the return game as a PR and KR.

I thought considering the game an consisted if throwing 40 screens reagor played ok on Sunday

He wasn't targeted much and it's tough to tell without watching the all 22 how often he was open and also difficult without knowing the calls to know often he was the number 1 option, seeing as hurts is a 1 read QB if reagor isn't the number 1 option on any given play chances the balls coming by his way are slim at best.

Twice. One time he got it to slightly past the 20. The other time he only got it to the 15 and the next play was a safety.

When running errands during the "work” day.  I listen to the local ESPN radio station. WRAL 99.9 The Fan.  They were slamming the Panthers for losing to a team who was lead by Rock Paper Scissors guy.  Actually Friday they were doing a whole segment on some of Sirianni’s silly quotes.  Not just the RSP quotes.  But the "knowing what to do” quotes.  And competing quotes.   The guy isn’t just a laughing stock in Philly.  He’s gone National.

That’s ok, their team actually traded draft picks for Sam Darnold.

Isn't he the QB that stepped out of the back of the end zone for a safety twice in the same game???

That's really really really really bad...

As for hurts tossing a freebie out of bounds, that was really really bad.

Let's look at Reagor's entire professional career up to this point. I'd say describing him as lacking football intelligence is an apt description.

I’m not doubting that.  Carolina sucks.  But we need to celebrate that "hard fought win” or at least that’s what we were told the other day.

I may have missed it on Sunday, but how was the game?

There's an upper limit to that though I'd say. Like Sanders going out of bounds twice under two minutes. How can you coach that out of him? It's just....borderline special needs stupid. I'm glad they pulled him, but my god, how it happens in the first place is insanity. I can maybe give a free pass for it to happen one time....but twice? On the same damn drive???

You think it would have gotten corrected the first time he threw it away on 4th down. I think he just put everything he’s got into that one throw which leads to a highly inaccurate throw. I don’t think his intention was to throw it out of bounds.
