Sounds like Rattler was benched. He's taking 2nd team scrimmage reps. Take him off the draft board.

George Washington owned slaves.  Should we take down his statues too?

Most of the Southern founding fathers owned slaves.  They were for the most part rich plantation owners.  The Northern founding fathers were a bit different in makeup with many professionals and tradesmen.    Already quite different economies. But we have Madison, breaking from his fellow Southerners to thank for the Constitution and most especially the Bill of Rights, whose origins trace to state Constitutions, including Virginia’s.  (An interesting bit of history is to look at how the states varied in their versions of the Bill of Rights at that time, but I digress).

I would suggest that, based on his writings, it is likely that Washington would be appalled at there being statues or monuments in his honor.

Why would you memorialize a fictional boxing hero?  The naming of things in the South and the erecting of statues from the 1890s-1920s was probably a combination of recognition to veterans of the war, a bit of rebellion because they were out from the thumb of Reconstruction and a bit of continuing to fight.  Now, when you look at the placement of the named places, some of it was probably designed to "keep” blacks down.  (The saying I heard growing up in the Deep South was "putting them in there place”.  Hopefully that doesn’t offend anyone.).  By the time my high school was named Robert E. Lee with our team named the Generals and our colors of grey and gold with a dance team in uniforms that looked like Lee, well that was pure 1960s racism and why there was a need for the Voting Rights Act.

It's a joke bro

As far as Hurts goes, I think it's proper there is in-depth debate and discussion as to his performance.  I try not to get too upset when he doesn't play well, and try not to get too amped up if he does, such as Week 1 against ATL.  He's a first-year starting QB (not a rookie) and he will have good games and bad games.  The Eagles will need to make a decision this season on where the organization is headed in 2023 and beyond, and the QB decision is central to that overall strategy.

When the Eagles decided to have Hurts start the last 4 games last season my position at the time is the organization needs to use that time to evaluate what his ceiling is.  Due to circumstances around Wentz leaving, the Eagles now have another 17 games to evaluate Hurts' ceiling again.  Howie has said before -- the goal is not 10 wins, the goal is not winning the division and having a wildcard game -- the goal is home-field advantage for the playoffs.  To accomplish that, you need a team to win 13+ games.

This brings me to an interesting question (or a few questions):

-- Will Sirianni have the power to dictate who his starting QB will be in 2023?  Lurie and Howie allowed Doug/Frank to draft Wentz in 2016 when they already had Bradford and Daniel signed and under contract.

-- Does Sirianni see enough in Hurts to tie his job security to Hurts' development?  Nick is saying the right things publicly to support Hurts, but any HC should do that.  I believe Nick's maximum job security is 2-3 years, so he has to be honest about who and what he wants running his offense -- this is his big shot in the NFL

-- Will Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, and/or Deshaun Watson be available via trade after this season?  We know Howie will inquire, but how much draft capital will he be willing to give up for any of the above?  I've given my opinion before that all 3 of these QBs are in a position to dictate trade terms, and none will be willing to come here -- JMO

-- The Eagles evaluation of the 2022 QB draft class will be interesting.  Most here say it's a weak draft class which I'm inclined to agree with.  I have a bias against 6'0 and 6'1 QBs without really strong throwing arms, so I don't see a lot in Howell, Rattler, Willis, etc.  Willis is a dynamic runner with a good arm, but he runs too much for my liking.  You'd have to run a similar offense with him that they're trying to run with Hurts, and whether he could do a lot better is arguable at this point.  Ridder looks like a young Kaepernick to me; no thanks.

-- Does Hurts do enough this season that there is no available upgrade in 2022?  Possibly.  I'd rather use the draft capital to build a defense anyway.

I absolutely expect that if Sirianni survives into next season and, IF the Eagles project possibly into the future, that he will be afforded an opportunity to opine on QB options.  Hopefully, Sirianni realizes his future is going to determined as much by who is QB next year as to building up the defense.

Without Washington there is no USA. Regardless of how he personally would have felt, he is deserving of much more than a statue

BUT, he also owned slaves.   Hence why I asked, should we hold him to the same revisionist history standard of being a racist?

Side note: Mount Vernon was a really cool place to visit. They do a pretty good job of acknowledging his history with slaves.

He had something with his hand.  Sure.  Will it effect his ability to carve up our defense like Dallas and KC did?  No.

Yup. It's silly watching the national media play it up like he might not play tomorrow or its going to be a major concern. He had the same "injury" and played all last week while throwing over 400 yards and 5 TD's. Gotta build up the drama so they can slobber his knob all game I guess.

Wrong. You're only a racist if you talk about a bad play or say he sucks.

You are likely right.   And I read earlier you are a lot more than just a racist...  You really should be more careful what you post online.

I'd like to see something over the deep middle... maybe a deep crossing pattern just for fun.  I'd like to see the middle of the field get exploited.  But, I think we will see Brady put up 40+ on this defense, and this offense get some garbage time points, and end up in the range of about 28 points.
