JJAW and Reagor are the biggest reasons people hate Howie I think.

Well and selecting Hurts as well.

Add Sidney Jones to that.  If I am the GM of the Eagles, our current skill guys are Alvin Kamara, DK Metcalf and Justin Jefferson.  Add Goedert and Sanders to that group, and we are still rolling along with Carson Wentz at QB.

Bottom 10 QB after giving up a top 10 qb

Worst talent on defense in the league

worst WR core in the league in a passing league.

Worst depth in the league.

ya... fire howie is correct

Who?  If you're referring to Wentz he hasn't played like a top 10 QB since 2017.

Only one I agree with is worst WR core but not sure that's true right now.

Defensive help on the way

Interesting.  I like that he didn't check down, but I wonder why he didn't throw it to DeVonta?  Guessing that wasn't the primary read?

I would think Ertz is the first read as a double move. The read was fine, but the throw was horrendous.

I always respected Mayocks eye for talent, but I have not liked the raiders draft picks the past 3 years.

That’s what makes him the usual Lurie adviser.  Dorsey, Donahue, Caldwell?  Mayock is a natural for next in line.

Sure, but that wouldn't account for lack of inside runs.

How would you defense the Eagles?

1) take away the inside run

2) take away the throws outside the hash marks

3) spy on Hurts, force him to beat you with his arm throwing down the middle of the field

Athletic offensive tackles are worth their weight in gold. We’ve had a good offensive line for the better part of many poster’s lives. I don’t think people realize the protection problems most teams have right now.

True, but he's a UFA after next season, and (1) I am not sure if he's in our long term plans and (2) sell high, we might be able to get a lot for him.

Not Andy too

May be an image of 1 person and text that says "BREAKING NEWS Leaked emails from Kansas City Chiefs head coach, Andy Reid, reveal more than 10,000 Grubhub receipts."

We haven't gotten there yet.  But is the scuff on Howie going away a little?

  • Hargrave is proving to be a great signing.
  • Mailata (although this is on Stoutland, Howie still had to pull the trigger)
  • Dillard has gone from bust to competent.
  • Taylor is seeing the field.
  • Wilson sucks, but Nelson and Harris are playing their roles.
  • Watkins in the sixth round and Gainwell in the fifth round.

Yes, the cap situation is a mess, mostly due to his "keep the window open" approach.

And Jones, Reagor, and JJAW will probably never be forgotten.  But the talent acquisition is trending more positive than I think we give him credit for.

Winning Day 3 in the draft is not enough. Way too many misses on Day 2 and mediocre selections on Day 1.  Look at all the resources spent to get to Hargrave at DT.

Or hurts handing the ball off on RPO's like he should

Yup too many times this year he's missed that read where could have been a big gainer had he given to the back on the RPO.

Last week he checked into an RPO and gave the ball right into a middle blitz for a loss,🤔.

One would think hurts could read that RPO better seeing as it's a heavy college offense yet seems he's struggling with that basic read

I actually really like Smith and Watkins. Reagor is up and down. Hurts has been missing Smith open a lot

Slay and Hargrave have been stellar. The others have been meh

He was a top 10 QB in 2019 with scrubs. He had better stats than Mahomes

Not really new news, but interesting none the less

Then you're going to have a salary cap problem paying all your DBs with inflated INT stats.

Yup, which is exactly what teams are doing, they've been taking away that inside run and when they don't hurts isn't reading it well.

And he doesn't really have the throw velocity or accuracy to consistently beat defenses deep down the middle.

Teams are giving up the slant which is where the spy also is and giving him the 7-10 yard outs and he doesn't really have the velocity to go opposite out across the field to get it there so it's always short side out when he does take it

It's been frustrating to watch, and maybe I'm watching the wrong things and I'm totally off base and others have seen differently if so I'd like to hear people's opinions.

I think losing both starting guards Brooks and Seumalo plays into it quite a bit.  Normally I'd say unless the defense stacks 8 in the box you should be running up the middle as long as it's effective -- hard to argue how effective it can/would be without Brooks and Seumalo in there, though.  Stoutland might be suggesting that Dickerson and Driscoll don't have some of the lane assignments yet and need more practice, continuity before implementing certain plays designed through the middle.

When both were healthy Week 1 the Eagles passed 35 times and ran 24 times against ATL, which is much closer to the way "fans" would be happy with.

The dillard situation comes down to this. If he is good to great the Eagles are going to extend him.

It becomes more murky if he’s just competent or slightly above average. Because you look at what Vaitai got in free agency two years ago. He was considered a competent left tackle (with versatility) and he got $10 million per season. Now we move to the end of next year where you’re probably going to have to pay dillard. The salary cap is going to go up and contract numbers are also going to go up. Which means you’re likely looking to pay dillard $13-$15 million per season just based off increased cap and salaries.

If he is just competent/slightly above average (not good to great) I have a feeling the Eagles are going to draft a tackle over the next 2 drafts and let Stoutland work with him to become a starting caliber right tackle rather than pay that price tag.  And if that happens then you’re either going to let him walk in free agency or you have the opportunity to try to get some type of value for him. Now I wouldn’t do that at this moment because you don’t have that luxury with Lane Johnson being out and you haven’t drafted that tackle yet and you also don’t have enough data to make that decision.

Take away the inside run? The 2-4 times a game the Eagles run inside?  Sirianni already has that covered.

Pick 1 needs to be Jordan Davis

Passing.  Total is a far bigger discrepancy.

 Projections after 5 games:

Hurts: 4,641 passing yards, 24 TD passes, 10 INT, 870 rushing yards & 10 rushing TDs.

Wentz: 4,495 passing yards, 24 TD passes, 3 INT, 247 rushing yards and 0 rushing TDs.

Now look at ypa and ypc

One costs 155 million to suck the other doesn’t.

Real simple choice for the time being until we get a real one.

Yup losing Brooks and seumalo right away hurts and while Driscoll isn't much of a run blocker at guard Dickerson should be, even though he's a little gimpy, it's supposed to be his strength and his first start he was graded as the 2nd top run blocking IOL for that week but they only ran it 10 times and I'm not sure how many were Inside vs outside.

Mailata is also a much better run blocker than Dillard so that effects run game as well but not to the point that o e only runs the ball 3 times

3 times is insanely idiotic.

If he keeps playing well, you exercise the 5th year option at some point and buy more time until we have a better handle on the long-term picture.

Fans hate the cap number, but only being locked in for 1 year is a steal.
