No fantasy, you've posted the pictures in the past.  Don't deny it, be proud of who you are.

I have posted pics, but none of me in a public park with a lute. I'm fine with me. What's your problem again?

You were doing something fun and he has never experienced that.

Yesterday, the White House tweeted out a message celebrating yet another triumph:

Seniors are getting the biggest increase in their Social Security checks in 10 years through President Biden’s leadership.

Sadly, this tweet has vanished.

The New York Post:

Twitter, which was purchased last week by billionaire Elon Musk, appended a note to the claim that said: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know.”

"Seniors will receive a large Social Security benefit increase due to the annual cost of living adjustment, which is based on the inflation rate,” the note said, linking to the Social Security Administration’s website for an explanation on the Nixon-era legislation behind the increase – known as COLA.

Administrations often take credit for stuff they have nothing to do with, what a shock.

I just can’t…

When will they learn to not have a dumb kidnrun their twitter?

Another 261K jobs added in October.  Biden's closing in on a million jobs added since the Republican talking point about "only gaining jobs lost during the pandemic"  blew up in their face.

Total jobs gained under Biden around 11 million in less than 2 years.  Unbelievable jobs president, certainly the best in American history, though you could make a very convincing argument that he's also the best that ever will be until the end of time.

Best to back to Trump tweeting from his non-secure iPhone from NS briefings, right?

Election deniers vs inflation deniers.

What a great nation we live in.

This ^^^^ from a "guy" who dresses like a medieval minstrel and plays a lute in public parks.

I think he’s posted pictures of himself in a kilt playing bagpipes if my memory is correct.  You were close…

;)

I suppose we can survive in here if you do post those pics though I'd be just fine if you keep them to yourself.

Here's the answer again.  The answer is Corporations make Record Profit and drive up the cost of inflation by artificially inflating the cost of goods.

Now let's see where your answer is to my question? Waiting.

You need to look at the profit margin RATES not the absolute number.

101 example - If you sell a product at $100 at a 10% profit then your profit will be $10.  If inflation results in you doubling the price to $200 with the same profit rate then your absolute profit will rise to $20 but your profit rate will remain at 10%.  So in relative terms the profit level is exactly the same in this example and in the end of the day the relative terms are what counts.

The narrative for this topic, like any other, is at risk of being manipulated by the choice of perspective when it comes to the numbers.  You know, Mark Twain's old quote about statistics.

btw - You're welcome.

Tech industry starting to wobble.  Several, e.g. Apple/Amazon have recently announced hiring freezes.  Today Meta announced 11k employees to be laid off

There are some interesting parallels to the DotCom bust. I see a lot of people looking to buy the dip on tech, and I think they could be waiting a long time for a recovery. Most of these companies aren’t really growth stocks anymore. They’re mature, and their revenue growth isn’t going to be what it once was.

The rotation to commodities is a real opportunity though…

The lesson here is that the "digital economy” only works if the "real economy” is strong and the cash flow and valuations actually make sense.

I also think you’re going to see the same thing that is happening in tech spread to other white collar jobs. There is an entire class of superfluous but highly paid workers that essentially boils down to ESG and every company that divorces itself from them will have a competitive advantage.

Yeah I saw parallels to early 2000 tech issues a while back and posted in this thread. At some point the bottom line needs to help support the valuation for the more market share growth strategy types. Also, the guys already killing the profit line are just easing the gas pedal a bit to align with the cycle but it still has an impact.

They told me Biden's plan to curb inflation wouldn't work.

Nah... It was because the Phillies lost the World Series.

Probably more the aggressive rate increases. Very little about the Biden plan is likely to impact inflation much, and certainly not on this short a timeline.

This election news is so welcome because, if for nothing else, this buys Biden and the Dems time to prepare for 2024, which suddenly looks like a good opportunity. Inflation has begun to decrease without a recession, and I would expect things to stabilize over the next couple years. The Senate map also looks generally favorable for the Democrats in two years.
