Yeah there is some fat that can and should be trimmed in IT to be sure. Elon's approach is stupid though. It may work at SpaceX or have worked in a past generation in IT, but he's signaled to every competent developer in Silicon Valley that Twitter is a terrible place to work. Everything is relative, but nobody in SV is going to treat talented dev staff as Elon is and be able to attract talent.

Well we weren't talking about Elon in this discussion but yeah, he's taking a huge gamble by blowing it up.

November 28, 20222 yr If he keeps it up, the only "talent" Elon is going to be attracting, are all the passed over right-wing rejects that were too stupid to work at Parler or Truth Social.

In addition to all of those jobs that are now empty they are taking all of their capital and using it to live rather than making it available for investing. At the same time the millennials are hitting their prime spending years. All of that means rising interest rates and big worker shortages, especially in the trades. None of that will change for years. The shift of boomers from investing to divesting is a pretty big deal. They have a LOT of wealth. It’s going to be a headwind for markets for a long time. End game is monetization, of course.

Another big takeaway is that wages are still 7.6% over the same time last year. There are still 2 job openings for every applicant, which is an improvement over the hyperactive ratio we saw earlier but still indicative of upward pressure on wages - which will encourage the Fed to be more aggressive on rate hikes. Better but perhaps not good enough to slow the Fed's inflation busting moves IOW.
December 1, 20222 yr Anybody else noticing the weir shortage of cream products in the PA area? Half n Half, light cream, heavy cream, - some days can't find them anywhere in the area.

I don't have anything else to offer except we had to use half and half instead of heavy whipping cream for mash on Thanksgiving because they had nothing better. But figure that was more related to Thanksgiving than a general shortage.

They are changing the packaging and putting the same UPC on it across the board to make it simpler instead of every chain getting their own version of it

When I look for substitutes for half and half, there is no cream, light or heavy. Been going on here longer than just thanksgiving Montco area
