We had a grand opening sale because we just opened another store and the bacon that was 3.99 is a local pork manufacturer. Otherwise it varies from 6-8 bucks The eggs are always cheap around here though. Even when we don't run a special they are 1.50

March 19, 20223 yr Damn, just had pork roll and egg on a bagel this morning, that's 2 for 2, haha. Add some pepperjack cheese and onion to take it up a notch.

The way I see it, Taylor ham is just a brand of pork roll. Along the same lines as "Crescent" is a brand of adjustable wrench but lots of people call all adjustable wrenches "Crescent wrenches".

I don't think I've ever really heard anyone call an adjustable wrench a crescent wrench... I know what you are getting at though, like a bandage is called the brand name band-aid. Whipped cream is always called cool whip.

Around here, almost everyone calls every adjustable wrench a crescent wrench lol. Same with tongue and groove pliers. They are all called Channel Locks, even though that's a brand name. But yes, calling it Taylor ham is the same as the examples you also gave. I was trying too hard not to use food as an example lol.

So Taylor raced to get its name changed to pork roll and to be the only to be able to call it pork roll. That's the debate

My mom always just called it pork roll when I was growing up. I think it might be a dialectical variation. People in Philly say pork roll and people in South Jersey/DE might more commonly say Taylor ham. I like pork roll better anyway. It sounds unique.
March 19, 20223 yr If there is going to be a major food crunch, it will likely happen in July. Something to keep an eye on.

It's right on the damn box: The rebranding caused an issue for John Taylor and his company {established as Taylor Provisions in 1939}, as they scrambled to trademark the new name, pork roll, for its cured, smoked creation. It would prevent other companies from competing with the product, and make Taylor's ham the only pork roll on the market.
March 19, 20223 yr Just now, TEW said: If there is going to be a major food crunch, it will likely happen in July. Something to keep an eye on. It's the supplies to package the food that's the issue not food itself. There is more than enough food but not enough workers and supplies to package it and ship it out which is another problem in itself. That being said yes it is supposed to get worse especially with the oil prices.
