They do.

Commercial Drivers pretty much have a zero tolerance policy

BAC for normal drivers is .08, for commercial drivers it is .02

Fair enough. The protocol by which drug tests return a positive result merely for the presence of THC metabolites is asinine, though.

Transportation and industrial jobs still do, which makes sense

Lemme be clearer:

There are still office jobs that test for weed? I am certain at least 50% of our employees would fail.

A FedEx Ground contractor told me he had five people fail drug tests in a row.  Lulz

Any job that requires a security clearance.

I know someone who had a pretty lucrative offer rescinded from Booz Allen Hamilton because they smoked weed in Amsterdam and failed a drug test when going for a security clearance for the DOD.

I don't think many. My wife's last 3 jobs (the 2nd she is bailing on after a year, company is run like ish) she was not tested.

In industry, most jobs are still tested as far as I know.

If you have any sort of accident in industry you get tested for multiple drugs and a breathalyzer immediately. I've had to wait with guys for a person to come and do the tests at 3AM, and you cannot let them out of your sight until they are tested.

Basically anything in the public sector

At my dad’s last job they did random drug tests. Guys would get suspended for 2 weeks without pay for a failed test, then called back in on Monday because the shop was busy if they were a good worker. They’d also test my dad periodically just to boost their percentages because they knew he’d always pass.

Worked for chemical manufacturing plant in research dept. For safety reasons and that we had government funding testing was a must.  In my 35yrs only got tested twice.  If you failed you would get retested.  Fail again you have option to go into treatment with probationary period.

So your dad wouldn't have good weed?

Well if he's in PA 35% of his salary being put into the pension by taxpayers.  Yes the school district has to put in that amount to fund PSERS in addition to the salary  So for every dollar he's paid by tax money an additional 35% also has to fund their pension.  Defined benefit plans are a dinosaur that crushes a  school budget.

Yup. He is the parasite on the system not the companies battling to actually make profits.

now a coherent anti trust argument can be made. But thats not what Rocker is arguing.

I worked in a chemical plant as the lead operator for about 25 years. Was only tested when hired. But any type of mishap that went on record wad an automatic on the spot test. I was fortunate enough to only have a couple very minor forklift "rubs" in my time there that didn't need to be reported. Some guys had multiple issues a year though, driving a lift in that type of job is very different than in a warehouse. Lots of tight areas and odd sized loads that need to be moved around.

I probably worked my job for longer than you have ever held one.

And to reply to this post, no, my second career as a stay at home gamer is great. Not a thing to complain about, life couldn't be better.

She may be odd sized, but I doubt the area is very tight.

Ignoring the ad-hominem, I basically don't have a say in the matter, so this is little more than self-important drivel, not to mention a non-sequitor.

My argument has simlpy been that businesses are contributing to inflation beyond simply covering their own ass. This is a fact and any attempt to act like it's all on the consumers/fed is just the other side of the coin of someone blaming it all on corporate interests. In this case, you have the corporate sector trying to whitewash their own recklessness. Don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining.

Anti-trust is a big part of it. We have done very little to enforce these laws over the last years. If there was more truly free, healthy competition, a lot of these problems could be mitigated.

Ha. Nah -- it's not 1984 anymore. Most people have edibles in their desk though.

Coke heads have energy, but they also make really stupid mistakes. That they kill themselves doing it, is not a good selling point.

An electrician at the first plant I worked in electrocuted himself. Wife sued for a few million, autopsy showed he was coked up. She didn't get a dime and even lost the work life insurance policy.

Not surprised. My experience with coke heads, is that they are the ones saying, "Hold my beer" and waking up in the hospital. Poor impulse control, poor decision making skills.

Now a local manufacturer that I have a 15 year working relationship just reached out to me.  Their CFO is leaving the end of June and they are interested in me taking over for him.  They hold some patents and basically print money.  Must be an accountant shortage out there, too!
