Here's the truly hysterical part -- the current situation is ideal for the US. Russia's military is engaged and has been seriously degraded to the point that they have to bring in foreign troops. We a

It’s been pretty obvious for years that Donaldev Trumperov cannot go against the wishes of Putin. All it takes is one phone call from his idol and then he falls back in line. He bullies the weak and sucks up those that have and show strength. That’s probably one of the only things he learned in school. Electing this imbecile twice is a tragedy that Shakespeare would have been very proud of.

Yeah, the only thing I can think of is if maybe Sweeden offloads some of their older gripens to Ukraine, as well, to speed up some deliveries.

The biggest things that are gonna be a factor: Taurus capability if Germany gets their head out of their a**, and Meteor capability. The last one has me salivating.

We will need those somewhere at that point but yeah should have been done earlier.

Swedish press is talking about sending some older versions sooner but unclear at this point when or how many.

I mean the rest of Europe has a decent enough amount of the superior F-35’s to be able to cover, I think.

The good thing about the Gripen is that it is specifically designed to go against Russia. Not up to the overall level of a F-35 but there are some nice unique qualities. Of course you are well aware of that.

man, i miss abra.

and all of the trumpers being in here bragging about how their daddy was going to end this quick.

It’s a capable airframe but the Nordic countries always have a hard on for operating off of roads.

In theory it’s cool, but if you actually have to do that in practice you majorly Fd up ten steps ago and you kept Fing up each additional step.

The best thing about it is the meteor.

I’ve driven on one of their road runways several times back and forth in the way to my buddies summer place on Sweden’s west coast.

They have only gained Ukrainian territory

More meat for the grinder

Plenty more tanks where that came from

Tbh the F-35B would probably have been a better fit for them via a via austere operations.

Better range, stealth, and don’t even need a road to takeoff.

I mean I get the whole national pride thing. Problem with euro countries is that every nation has their own thing when realistically there either needs to be a: one big EU force, or b: regional NATO forces with standardization (Nordic force, Franco/German force, Poland/Baltics force, Canadian/British force, lazy freeloading Mediterranean force, etc.). Standardized equipment amongst each force.

Yeah, a deeper level of coordination and standardization is needed. In the end, it is a good thing that there is more reliance on equipment from Europe even if the equipment isn’t as good. As long as it is good enough.

Agree on the everlasting procrastination of the Taurus by the German government. It’s so typical of the Germans to wait and see if someone else goes first in providing weapons on the battlefield. While Merz was in the opposition, he practically screamed for sending the Taurus. Now he is Chancellor and you hear crickets…

On one end they are bringing back the draft because of the danger Russia is posing, but on the other end they are not dedicated enough in stopping Putin’s imperialism by supplying enough weapons to Ukraine.

Getting all of Europe together in a "United States of Europe” is never really going to happen. Too many differences in all kind of things. They shouldn’t have given the EU so much power over a bunch of national interests. Should’ve kept it basic with all having the Euro, trading and the ability to move freely within the borders.

With the imminent threat posed by Russian aggression, I agree that a Euro force should be implemented. When you think about it, NATO is actually supposed to be exactly that. European NATO countries have to figure out a way to function more independently from the US. The dependency has made many countries free load off of American forces / strength. This includes countries like Germany and for surely the Mediterranean countries. They are really worthless in that regard. That was even evident during WWII, as Italy was for the most part a worthless military ally of the axis powers.
