Just a national embarrassment. Pathetic.

It’s almost as if we knew the Chinese would do exactly what they did, and were wanting to give Russia an easy out by letting them know we knew their hand.

Here's the truly hysterical part -- the current situation is ideal for the US. Russia's military is engaged and has been seriously degraded to the point that they have to bring in foreign troops. We a

Is it really that hard to figure out why we dont want to cede access to space to the Russians, and prepare ahead of time for the inevitable militarization of space?

I hope you found that adorable.

We already had USAF Space Command, numbnuts, but yeah we should be super worried about ceding access to space to the country with aging military equipment that's currently struggling pretty heavily in Ukraine. Time to stop waving the pom poms for Putin, comrade.

China gave intel to the Russians, about Russian troop positions... As if the Russians didn't already know where their troops were stationed?

I agree. It was the plan all along to let the Russians know we had their plans figured out.

Are you justifying?  Or "just saying"?

Just saying, bro. There are obviously legitimate grievances in play here. I just wish we were exposed to legitimate news here, rather than state-sponsored propaganda.

uh, they were sharing the "intel" publicly. there was no secret that Russia was preparing its military at Ukraine's border.

if the US hadn't met with China to try and put diplomatic pressure on Russia not to invade that would have been worse.

this is why you and your ilk are a joke. you eat up every bit of propaganda and spin from right wing hacks without actually trying to put together a cogent thought of your own on the topic.

My God, Republicans from 50 years ago would roll over in their graves if they saw these type of opinions from their party.

Yup. Frigging morons.

Somalia, Syria, Yemen....just nice little places with absolutely no other factors in terms of why we'd intervene.

Hell Im scheduling a cruise and a few excursions through the Horn of Africa this summer, I hope to get up to Syria next Fall!

Whens the last time China pit diplomatic pressure on anyone it didnt want to?

Not sure I agree it was intentional.  Russia doesnt need anyone to tell them we have intel on them, they know it already

Bro, you're defending Russia and their "legitimate grievances". You're too far gone.

it doesn't matter, in that situation the US is obligated to try every diplomatic option available to prevent a war. even if it means appealing to China, understanding the likelihood of them pressuring Russia to not invade is low.

the implication from the Breitbart jackhole was that some sort of "intel" was shared with Russia. which is preposterous because the intel was out in the open.

Acknowledging they have legitimate grievances and supporting their war efforts are two different things. Hey, if you want to remain ignorant as to why this is happening, that's your prerogative. It is easier for some people to comfort themselves with a dumbed down version of events and say "this is only happening because Putin is a fascist hitler authoritarian dictator!" In fact, I think Van Jones just tweeted that.

Yep. It's pretty clear their military is overrated. The will to fight is not strong. The cause among the troops is not strong. Russian equipment is inferior in comparison to ours. Ukraine is doing the best they can. Now there are reports Russia is willing to meet to talk about neutrality.

This is wishful thinking, the Russian's are on the doorstep of the Ukrainian capital some 500 miles from their start line in less than 3 days, against an opponent that is dug in in their own cities that's pretty good, you'd struggle to do it faster, the equipment comparison is based on General Dynamics marketing materials and American exceptionalism rather than any sort of field test, I suspect in practice the equipment would be pretty much a wash, we'd have better stuff in some area's and they'd have better stuff in others, just because you can pot shot 50 year old export T72's in Iraq doesn't mean you can roll over the 2015 variants and T90's that Russia have developed since.

Russia were always going to negotiate eventually and frankly we should thank the Lord for that, because the alternative is World War 3, but the Western powers need to decide what NATO is for, because all the signs are that for the last 20 years it's been nothing more than a stick to poke Putin with, I suspect Ukraine's neighbours won't need much persuading to leave NATO and  be part of a neutral buffer zone, because they've already seen Georgia and now Ukraine left to twist in the wind when the rubber met the road of actually defending them rather than just posting missiles there.

Bringing up their legitimate grievances during their unprovoked invasion and then trying to disassociate the two after you brought them up in the same context. Boy, you're a special kind of stupid.
