These clowns thought a 190k man buildup was only to be a "shield”.

Well they’ve helped their country become the most isolated country on Earth. And the most hated.

Yeah that video with the molotov cocktails was from 2014 in Odessa.

Fair enough but hopefully we can expect that the same is going on now.

Long article today in Swedish press.  An interview with an expert who has spent her entire career studying Russia in a Swedish defense institution and someone who loves Russian culture and has tons of Russian friends.  Lots to unpack from the article.  Back on Jan 10th she gave a long speech and ended by saying that "no one can say we were not warned" as she predicted Putin would roll into Ukraine in the very near term.

Her basic summary is that Putin has planned this for years and that the entire motivation is by the Russian govt and military's desire to re-establish Russia to its once great position as respected (not liked) world power from the Soviet empire days.  She says Russia sees the world being dominated by five countries as regional powers US, Russia, China, Brazil, and India in their own "spheres of influence".

She  points to many things along the way that helped set the actual timing.  Trump's actions in the WH weakening the ties with Euro countries was one such point AND another was the total failure by Biden in Afghanistan.  Both emboldened Putin.  Other things like Trump losing the re-election, Merkel no longer head of Germany, Macron needing to campaign, and Boris suffering from post Brexit fatigue all lined up the ducks to set the actual moment.  She said she knew in her heart the day was near when she saw how Putin treated Macron when Macron went to Moscow in early Feb to discuss the situation and Macron was forced to walk from his jet to the terminal.  She said that never happens with a state leader and that there is always a limo there to pick up the leader as they step off the plane.

Hitler had great ideas too. Had dogs. Hell of a guy.

It is more advantageous to Putin to do it now.

I thought Hitler was a cat person?

(Hungary is open to SWIFT)

Today I spoke again with the Prime Minister of Hungary, V. Orbán. And he once again assured me of his support for far-reaching sanctions against Russia. Including about blocking the SWIFT system.

Unconfirmed tweets (so nothing really) that Valery Gerasimov (general of the Russian army appointed by Putin) was dismissed.

If that proves true, definitely a Russians in disarray moment.

They need to start airlifting supplies to support the defense if Kyiv. Like Berlin. (This is not my idea, but it absolutely makes sense)

Those people are brave and deserve nothing but respect. That is true patriotism. I don't even have words that do it justice.

Will be interesting if Putin brings in armor vehicles and tanks into the city in the next few days.

This could backfire bigly if the Ukrainians are set up for guerrilla warfare with molotov cocktails, RPGs and whatever else they can get their hands on.

We have seen time and time again that  well organized guerrilla warfare take out armies. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens again.

It’s tough to get reliable information about what’s happening.

The biggest unknown variable is the collective will of the Ukrainian people.  Many people in Ukraine wanted to separate and join Russia before this happened.  They had some major economic hardship.  We are all pulling for this image of a Western, Democratic taliban that relentlessly grinds against the Russian forces.  And the American media outlets (for once Fox News and CNN are pushing the same narrative) are happy to show images and clips of heroic Ukrainians fighting back. But I’m not convinced that Ukrainian patriotism/identity/nationalism/whatever you want to call it is going to result in hundreds of thousands of armed citizens persistently willing to lay down their lives in the way we’ve seen in the Middle East.

I just worry that the insurgence will not be as widespread or persistent as everyone hopes.

10 Russian battalion groups (BTGs) are heading to Kyiv. About 11,000 soldiers, with 100 tanks.

Kyiv needs resupply. Who knows if the Russians threw their weakest units as cannon fodder at Ukraine to soak their ammunition supplies, only to be followed up by experienced fighters.

Yeah, because the media is telling them that and they're stupid.

That's not the question my friend.  The question is "why".  The answer is not good for Trump.  Quite the opposite.
