Russia has been illegally occupying Ukraine for 8 years, and providing significant support to rebels in Donbas. Russia is losing. And will continue to lose. They can't even open their stock market for fear of how bad it is, they cannot raise funds from even China, their credit rating such as it was is completely shot, Russian citizens aren't even sure the Rubles they have in the bank are accessible anymore - Rubles which are worth a lot less today than they were a week ago, and Ukraine STILL won't back down. No amount of propaganda and newspeak is going to change that comrade. yeah it's been there a bit now. this is from last night. Declaring one's independence does not violate international law. Kosovo did it. Russia is taking steps to defend the Ruble. Increasing the interest rate to 20% will help. When you have such little debt as Russia, high interest rates are manageable. Last I checked, the Ruble was around 98/USD. For comparison, it got to 115 the last time sanctions were imposed. China may not need to buy Rubles right now. However, if Russia really needed that kind of support, it's not clear that China would say no then.

And what's your opinion on the war crimes he's committed? The world either overestimated Russia's army or underestimated Ukraine's willfulness to fight back when given weapons I worry that he'll use nukes before he gives up. I have no idea how the world will respond to the war crimes. I don't see us removing him from office. Possibly just sanction the hell out of Russia even more so that the people rise up to remove him and the sanctions
February 28, 20223 yr "Russia isn't targeting civilians!" ... "but only because Ukraine is installing military operations in civilians centers!" https://twitter.com/i/events/1483255084750282753 Oleh Synehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, called the attacks "a war crime," saying "the Russian enemy is shelling entire residential areas of Kharkiv, where there is no critical infrastructure, where there are no positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that the Russians could aim at."

And Russia's options with the sanctions are very limited, and none of them remotely equal to what was there prior. Even China is refusing to throw more good money after bad. I know it pains you to admit, but sanctions - the sanctions Pop-Pop has been working with EU allies on since October - are working. Biden done good. It doesn’t pain me it’s a fact that sanctions aren’t going to get the Russians lol I pull back in this

February 28, 20223 yr 2 minutes ago, SNOORDA said: It doesn’t pain me it’s a fact that sanctions aren’t going to get the Russians lol I pull back in this the sanctions do two things: 1. it puts tremendous pressure on the decision makers in Russia who are sensitive to the trashing of their economy to make a change 2. demonstrates clearly what the economic costs of attempting such an invasion in the future are going to be if Putin actually thought the West would come together as it has and introduce sanctions as strong as it has (and as strong as Biden promised they would be while those like yourself chuckled at him), then Putin truly is incredibly stupid. if, after the Ukraine situation is worked out, Russia was to try and do this again, they would even stupider. in addition to the above, the sanctions are putting pressure on those who ramped up economic ties with Russia during the last decade to roll back their dependency. I know you badly want to be able to not credit Biden for this. it's more clear with every post. As badly as the withdrawal from Afghanistan was, the way Biden has handled this situation has been very good.

February 28, 20223 yr 96 enemy (Russian) tanks, 20 hailstones, 8 fuel trucks near Lebedyn were burned to the ground by artillery and accurate strikes by Bayraktars. It was a Russian gas station. The positions of the "hailstones" were also destroyed. edit: Lebedyn is between Kharkiv and Kiev. My uneducated guess is that they were on their way from Russia to Kiev on/around highway H07
