Looks fantastic. I do a spatchcocked whole chicken pretty regularly.  Everyone should know how to roast a bird.

Yeah I make it about once a week. Me and my son like the dark meat. Wife and daughter like the white. No fighting lol.

Even when you use stuffing, stuffing and the bird cook better separately.

Went with roasted chicken tonight (family favorite). Rice and spicy corn with a little diced bacon. Was gonna make a nice tall glass of grass juice, but then I remembered I opened a Malbec a couple days ago so I had 2 glasses of that instead.

Solid looking bird. Spatchcocked is the way to go, it cooks better and is fun to say

I like that. I usually use the leftover carcass and meat to make a stock and do chicken soup for work the next day or so.

Yeah. You can cook it hotter and faster, it doesn't dry out as easily imo.

I did a 16lb turkey this weekend. It came out delicious, but the handle on my really old poultry shears broke so I had to buy a new pair.

I do the same. I'll vacuum seal 2 or 3 carcasses with the giblets, freeze them and use the crockpot to make a few quarts of stock like once every month or two. Makes a great gravy or soup.

I can’t stomach the thought of him running again. Like moderate Democrats, moderate Republicans are sick of having to be associated with the party extremists.

If he runs, he loses…again. There are choices that have a viable shot at winning…why the party would throw him out there again is mind boggling.

Wow man that’s pretty Fing gross. I agree with Toastrel on maybe 1% of issues, but I respect the hell out of his sacrifice and service he gave our country and am grateful for it. While I don’t support the decision for us to be there, I sure as crap will support the men and women going.

No, a lot of them voted for him specifically because he isn’t Trump.

Well Toastrel isn’t going so why are you supporting him?  What sacrifice has he made?

A far bigger one than any you’ve ever made.

Spatchcocked chicken is super easy.  Rub the bird with a mix of oil, herbs and crushed garlic.  Sprinkle with some salt and pepper.  Toss it on a baking tray and cook over high heat (400+) until the thickest part of the breast (right next to the bone) reads about 150.

You can get fancier with it of you want but that's the gist.

Do you spatchcock yourself? Or get a butcher to do it?

That seems like a personal question.

Usually get the butcher to do it.  I've seen it precut in stores before though if that makes it easier.

The one time I cut it myself I used the spine and some mushrooms to make a real good gravy though.

How do you know?  For all you know he was one of those guys torturing people in that prison

It's easy if you have a good sharp set of shears. That 7.5 lb chicken I just posted took 30 seconds. Just cut right up both sides of the spine. Flip, spread, and push down real hard on the breast. Done. I put a small pat of butter under the skin of both breasts and each leg/thigh portion. Brush with oil, season and cook.

It's definitely the best way to cook poultry. Removing the cavity and "flattening" it out makes it cook faster and more even.

Go ahead. Please enlighten me with your sacrifice equivalent to military service.

0 = 0 … you brought this up.  You want the war.  You tell me.  I don’t claim to have done anything.  I don’t advocate doing anything

Nope. Wrong. I said while I disagree with going there, I will support every single one of our troops.

You said, "what sacrifice?” By saying this you were implying you don’t view military service as a sacrifice. So I’m asking you what have you done or not done that you actually consider a sacrifice? Pretty straight forward.

You will never get a clear answer from that idiot. He is one of about a half dozen people here that will talk all day, but when asked a simple question they go out of their way to talk around it instead of giving a direct answer.
