Even if China is willing to do that, I have doubts that Russia is eager to become dependent on China. Those two are not natural allies either.

It's a relic of early twentieth century military realities that no longer hold. As we have seen, the US can't even sustain an occupation in Vietnam, Iraq, or Afghanistan. Russia/USSR couldn't do it in Afghanistan and they won't be able to do it in Ukraine. Machine guns are cheap and soldiers are expensive, so eventually the population wins. Perhaps robots and drones will change this but for now it's no longer the war that breaks an empire, it's the occupation.

We don't have to nuke Russia to stop them. We only have to arm whoever they attack.

So are you going to go join Ukraine's foreign legion, or are you all talk?

Look at their resolve

they have the character that you lack

Um, yeah, those conflicts have next to nothing in common with our situation vis-a-vis Ukraine. In fact, they couldn't be any more different.

For anyone that looks at videos on Reddit, be extra cautious clicking on "War is Hell”. Jesus, I’ll never forget what I just saw.

If you can't share the link on the board, would you PM it to me?

Okay, good for them.

Are you a keyboard warrior or are you actually willing to put your life on the line for them?

Just as he planned! Can't you see? He knew this would happen and is exactly what he wants! Sit back and take notes. This is all a masterclass in world domination. This is what success looks like.

Bone spurs?

If I or my family were at risk, I'd fight, but we're not, and I'm not pretending to be the baddest ass this side of a Marvel superhero.

I own shares of defense corporations. Rather than dying for other men's profits, I aim to profit from other men's deaths.

What happened to Russia? This confirms that there’s a nosedive to the 1970s USSR. Holy crap! Even China isn’t this bad.

Yeah it's weird. He seems hell bent on blowing past Xi Jinping standards and giving Kim Jong-un a run for his money.

Though I now look back on fond memories of when TEW and Solz would argue that Putin was beloved by his citizens and wasn't a dictator akin to Xi and Kim. I wish I could go back to the old boards and dig up those posts. They would've aged so well.

I mean, you could start with the fact that we were the invaders, we didn't have popular support, and those places weren't democracies. It is precisely the opposite in this situation.

For those who are of the mind that Putin won’t stop with Ukraine.

Russia is the invader, Russia doesn't have popular support in most of Ukraine. In those respects it's exactly the same.

Ukraine having been a democracy probably makes Russia's task even more difficult.

Hey bro we're either honest about how the world works or we're not. Powerful men have always thought and will always think that way. That's why there have always been and will always be wars, slavery, famines, genocides, and so on.

Yup, a pattern indeed.

So over the weekend at my store we took all the Russia liquor (Vodka) off the shelves.  I thought maybe this was just something the owners at our store and our sister store did, but turns out a bunch of stores in our area decided to do this together.  It doesn't do anything to hurt the Russian economy as this stuff was already paid for by the importers/distributors, but if businesses keep turning away goods from Russia it could produce a small ripple.  It really needs to be the importers/distributors to stop bringing product over to at least get the attention of these Russian companies and seeing as how Putin's propaganda machine is about to go into full effect then they need outside reasons to make them ask the question "Why?".  Why do you not want our products anymore?

We did bring in this Ukraine Vodka to replace the Russian ones.  And FYI, Stoli is not a Russian Vodka.  Not anymore.  They now operate out of Latvia and Ukraine.  So you can feel guilt free drinking Stoli.

I'm reminded of that rather frequently. She'd be too good for me even if she weren't so good-looking. I got to stay on my best behavior....

If you ever get back this way, let me know.

She and I are thinking of going to Germany this summer but we'll see if that works out or not.

I mean, if I were The Decider, we wouldn't be in NATO, but since we are, we have a duty to retaliate and I would uphold that duty with conventional forces. If Russia pushed the nuke button, I would retaliate as well. I think I was pretty clear on that -- I would end life on Earth sooner than I would submit to an authoritarian ruler.

We'll only be free as long as we're willing and able to kill men who would enslave us.
