March 4, 20223 yr This would be a serious mistake by Biden. You absolutely do not want to push eastern powers into siding with Russia.

And Putin isn't going to gaslight me into treating it as such.

If you refuse to consider the interests of your opponent because you think they’re evil you will make a lot of mistakes, and those mistakes will lead to war. Like now.

Yea Putin doesn’t want Russians, what he claims Ukrainians are, to be close to the west because they might see how great the west is doing, so he’s trying to move Russia’s border right next to the west.

Especially with a state that has shown a willingness to use military force to bully its neighbors. Again - it's like a kleptomaniac neighbor who claims they're offended by your security system trying to bully you into getting rid of it.

Maybe not from our perspective, but his perspective is different. Whatever reason NATO was formed for, and yes it was formed to be a defense pact, when that organization keeps advancing closer and closer to his borders, do you really think that he’s not going to perceive that as a threat, no matter how benign our intentions are? in other news, I just had the pleasure of trying to explain to my 8- year old daughter why we’re not sending our people to help the Ukrainians, without telling her that if we did the Russians could kill most of US within hours. Coming out of two years of Covid anxieties I don’t want to add that to her plate. I had hoped that she would grow up in a world different than the one I did where we occasionally practiced hiding under our desks, but it’s starting to look like that’s not to be. F’ing BS.
March 4, 20223 yr So Russia has attacked a Ukraine Nuclear Plant which is now on fire. They are saying if the reactor melts down it will be far worse than Chernobyl. Congrats to the Evil Dictator Putin. https://www.yahoo.com/news/live-updates-fitch-downgrades-russias-074543182.html Live updates: Russian troops shelling nuclear power station The Associated Press Thu, March 3, 2022, 2:45 AM The latest developments on the Russia-Ukraine war: ENERHODAR, Ukraine — Russian troops are shelling Europe's largest nuclear power station in Ukraine. What the hell kind of timeline did I get stuck on that I’m watching a mechanized infantry assault inside the fence of a nuclear power plant. In real time. From seven time zones away. Edit: According to NotWoofers, reactors 2 and 3 (the closest to the fighting on the camera) have been safely shut down.
March 4, 20223 yr It takes a special kind of stupid to attack a nuclear power plant in a country you would like to take over.

Decisions made now are for future generations, which clearly these old bastids don't care about. Sorry, late to the party as I was at work today. I agree and will go you one better to go along with this: You can only hold 5 government offices for a max total of 20 years. Once you hold an office you can't hold it again. So if you start out on your town council then you have to move on to another office as you can't ever hold that office again. Then maybe you're the mayor or your town/city. Again, move on. Then you're on your state senate. Then you're a US senator/congressperson for your state and finally POTUS. And now you're done in politics. Retired. And you can't work as a lobbyist either. You have to go back to the private sector. Maybe if there were no lazy fat cat career politicians to sponge off our tax dollars and they had to go back to the private sector that they'd do a better job in office? No more Strom Thurmonds and Arlen Specters serving for 50-60 years. Know why? Two of the most offensive words in any language for politics is "status quo". That's all career politicians do is keep the (their) status quo. Life changes. The Universe is always changing. Have to be able to keep up with it and our Founding Fathers, while not perfect since some were slave owners and only allowed for white land owning men to initially vote, they had the wisdom to know things change and made The Constitution a living document that could be changed as the times changed. We need loads of changes before we lose this World.
