If we can't stand up to Russia there's no way we'll stand up to China. And it doesn't matter who sits in the oval office or what kind of economic clout you imagine we still have. For all their faults, both China and Russia have been meritocracies, with their resources and policies controlled by iron-handed rulers. The US and its Western allies are plutocracies controlled by (often idiotic) nepotists and self-serving media pundits, divided by tribalism. We've been lucky to be protected by geographical distance but that's no longer a big factor. As crazy as it is, our biggest "war time" asset would be the tens of millions of armed citizens who'd make occupying our country nearly impossible. Unless they were hypnotized by tiktok. You make it sound like China could invade Taiwan and the U.S. would be helpless. That’s silly.
March 5, 20223 yr i will be the 1st admit that I am politically ignorant, however, I've been watching a lot of news regarding this war. Mostly I'm going back and forth between CNN and Fox News. I know CNN tends to lean left and Fox News is right wing. My question is, why does Fox News seem to constantly ridicule the Biden administration and question everything the Dem party does/is doing, instead of uniting over this? Can't political agendas be put aside for the sake of saving lives?
March 5, 20223 yr Hearing similar sentiments from others on social media as well. Sounds like we are coming to a defining moment soon here.

We’re not helpless, but it would be Ukraine all over again. We aren’t getting in a shooting war with China over Taiwan. 14 minutes ago, JohnB said: i will be the 1st admit that I am politically ignorant, however, I've been watching a lot of news regarding this war. Can't political agendas be put aside for the sake of saving lives? Short answer is, "no.” Long answer is it depends what they’re ridiculing /questioning. Probably some legitimate things to criticize and also lots of things that aren’t. This is the politics we live in. Of course it was the exact same way with Bush and Iraq/Afghanistan, so it goes both ways.

We are watching some apocalyptic fiction come to life for the innocent people of those countries. If people have the means they need a 72 hour kit and 30 day supply of food, water, and meds. World is crazy and your families may need it.

On Ukraine, this is a very NSFW conversation between Ukrainians and Russians in radio: Language is Russian presumably but English subtitles This is great, we’re seeing real life call of duty conversations happening now.

March 5, 20223 yr I'm shocked, SHOCKED I tell you, to find that the Russians aren't negotiating in good faith. "But what about the Minsk agreements?!?!"
March 5, 20223 yr further down the thread: no idea if true or misinformation. but given what's being seen it wouldn't be shocking to see Russian soldiers who already weren't keen on attacking their cousins in Ukraine from causing "operational challenges" throwing ish-fits over dangerous amphibious landings.
March 5, 20223 yr Interesting walkthrough of how Russia is in contrast to the West. Nothing groundbreaking but interesting nonetheless. It's a bit long and is in Finnish with English subtitles.
