Javelin was developed in 1989 and Russia hasn't developed any counter measures to their fixed wings aircraft in that time?

Embarrassing

Javelin is anti tank. Stingers I think are mainly what they're using.

Which means the planes are flying below 10k feet. Speculation is that they're out of smart missiles so pilots are having to fly lower to get any accuracy out of what they have.

Wow. So now what from the Kremlin? Doesn’t look like they’ll have enough to overwhelm or occupy.

Pretty sure they mean 100% of what was mobilized to the border, not literally all of their combat power. But yeah, it's starting to seem like the longer this is drawn out, the more likely they find themselves in a scenario where they'd be lucky to chip away Donbas and call it a win to save face.

Yep, though in a pinch, it can be direct fired at a helo as an unguided rocket.

Some select tweets from this guy's longer tweet thread. Trying not to repeat too much of what's already been reported here.

By the way, it sounds like this was 2 teens who carjacked a car in a rich neighborhood and blew past the security checkpoint probably thinking it was a roadblock for them..... 17 year old in custody and another on the loose

OK?

Thats a lot different then attacking Russia like the other poster suggested.

People shouldn't want to go to war with any nation

They are lucky that wasn't a Marine base.

Generally speaking, people don't. My guess is that the average Russian would be against the invasion, if they were allowed to have such thoughts.

Haven't been on a base in years but I remember they used to carry rifles. The teens are lucky they didn't open fire

Or, decades of corruption and skimming off the top has left a hollowed out military.

Plenty of the Russian equipment that has been confirmed to be lost only entered service recently.

These aren't cold war relics they're tossing out there.

I was referring to Americans wanting to do more than supplying Ukraine and sanctioning Russia

I still can’t wrap my head around that.   I mean it’s hard to believe that isn’t propaganda of sorts (the skimming leaving the military thin)

if it isn’t old weapons and vehicles then it’s poor use and/or operation of them.  Either way it’s hard to believe that Putin’s military was being siphoned off for yachts.

It's Russian tradition. But probably only a part of the answer. And maybe a small part.

I think the reality is that Russia's economy has been such crap that the military was underfunded, coupled with Russia's reliance on projecting strength and using the threats to bully.

One of the FIRST things to go in EVERY military budget cut I had to suffer through, was training.

Training, especially good training, is very expensive.

Plus, there's money to be made selling a government big vehicles, but not as much money to be made maintaining them.

That’ll do it

I'm not sure this is true. Seems to me that groups of people are pretty eager to kill other groups of people when they see an advantage to be gained.

I mean, it's not that hard to understand. Russia is a land of corruption. They allocated plenty of money to upgrading the military...and then the oligarchs bought yachts instead. So Putin thinks he has this updated army, when in reality all the money was embezzled.
